Ashwatthama releasing the brahmastra by invoking mantras on some grass gave me goosebumps (reminds of similar things in Ramayana (by Ram), and in Mahabharata (by Dronacharya)). The power lies in mantras, not in weapons. Director could have made Ashwatthama use a traditional bow and arrow for Brahmastra too - but this small detail meant that the writers/directors know the scriptures deeper.

as good as this movie is on principle, the premise of the dystopia doesn't feel as compelling as could've been. humanity being conquered by an outside force doesn't say much about us than humanity willingly giving up their rights and lives for a dictator (whether it be a totalitarian dystopia like 1984 or nazi germany or somethingg like Cyberpunk 2077 or Blade-runner). the movie does do this, but nowhere near to the extent that i imagined, and most of that time gets spent on Bhairava crashing a party in the complex.

Basically, Mahabharata's depicts every single character as a mix of flaws and righteous. Whether it is Sri Krishna or Duryodhana. Draupadi was wrong in making fun of Duryodhana. Yudhishthir was wrong in using his brothers and wife as bets. And to those who find Ashwatthama and Karna being shown in a positive way, please understand that both of them were doing their duty towards their friend, Duryodhana which shows their loyalty.
