I think people keep focusing on the old lil Wayne when he was during his prime. Wayne can still be a beast when performing but from his looks he needs healing, rehab and perhaps he needs to refocus on his career. He doesn’t have that stamina like he use to have. Wayne & Kendrick are two different artists. Kendrick is in a league of his own….It’s his time right now.

It should also be noted that... apparently the city of New Orleans CHOSE Kendrick Lamar for the Super Bowl. Jay-Z's team gave the city of New Orleans a list of performers to choose from to headline the Super Bowl and they CHOSE Kendrick. Don't get mad at Kendrick or Jay-Z... get mad at the city of New Orleans if you're actually mad that Lil' Wayne got snubbed (even though the years of heavy drug use have DEFINITELY had an effect on his abilities as a performer).

Perfect timing as usual brotha…..Dot is without a doubt the best decision for a Super Bowl, just look at how he is basically declaring a complete reset of the rap/music industry after his drop last night. Bro wants to watch and actively participate in the killing of the ‘party’. Drake has been eradicated now he’s coming for the whole pantheon like Kratos in GOW 1-3 😭😭😭😭🔥 P.S: if Wayne comes out with Kendrick and for example is adlibing during the line: ‘F’ed on Wayne girl while he was in jail….’ It’ll go down as one of the best moments in hip hop.

Kendrick's breath control is insane! A lot of his songs have double and triple time flows that are difficult in the studio. If you've ever tried to karaoke a Kendrick song, you'll realize that sometimes he goes into syllable bursts that last a very long time. He does them live with no backing vocals. I think a lot of these rappers are upset because they're scared of what will be expected after Kendrick blazes this performance. Kendrick seems to have an agenda right now of elevating hip hop and I think the industry is fearful.

I find it very interesting that none of the Hot Boys, Drake, or Nicki helped Wayne when he was down. Yet now all of them care about him so much. FOH with the BS. Secondly there was none of this outrage when Beyonce performed there back in 2013. Most of the people talking out their necks are Drake Stans. I don't dislike Drake but facts are facts meaning K-Dot deserves it more than Drake. People need to get out their feelings.
@gamecrazyoo12 ай бұрын
That was their trip to a historic Super Bowl reunion. They lil dream got crushed they don’t give a fuck about Wayne. They knew if Wayne got it he was gonna rely on them to carry . Drake turned it down cause he not that good of a performer he needs his friends and big set pieces etc and it would just end up getting memed , Nicki was never gonna get that look alone her career is past that point and she probably pissed someone off or will. The only way they all get this look and make it look good is as a unit YMCMB.

They’re just mad because if Wayne got to headline, they would get a chance to perform. I’m from New Orleans and I don’t care if whether they bring an artist from the city or not. Yeah, I like Lil Wayne’s music but he is not a great live performer.

I went to a Lil Wayne concert (he and T-Pain were headliners) in the early 2000s. He brought an unsigned or recently signed Drake out at the time. Good show but that's not gon' be the same kinda performance he'd put on these days. Kendrick Lamar is the best choice to headline the Super Bowl. I don't understand what all the noise is about but most of it's ridiculous. Whoever Kendrick brings out or even if he does a solo performance like Rihanna did, bring it on! He'll put on a heckuva show no matter what 🎉 Most influential Kanye West album to me was College Dropout. It took me a while to warm up to 808 and Heartbreak surprisingly since I'd enjoyed some of T-Pain's music (iirc he inspired the sound for 808 and Heartbreak). Nice touch mentioning Dave Free. He's quite the creative and he's award-winning too 🎉

All of this talk about Kendrick not being good enough for the Super Bowl largely comes from a crowd that only listens to hip hop and nothing else. They don’t understand the true scope of the music industry at large so they think that someone who has mostly hung out in the rap world is a bigger deal than someone who has crossover appeal with a Taylor Swift level pop artist and her audience. Wayne, Drake, and even J Cole were referenced in Childish Gambino’s "Feels Like Summer" music video while Kendrick wasn’t since he was on an entirely different level than everyone else winning Pulitzer Prizes. Kendrick spends more time with people from outside the urban music landscape than within it which is what the NFL is looking for when it comes to the Halftime Show. You must be able to transcend the genre you started in completely if you want to be chosen for it. Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent, Mary J Blige, and Anderson .Paak are all more than just hip hop artists so they all made appearances at the 2022 Halftime Show. These are all artists who pass The Grandma Test (ie does your Grandma know who this person is and will they like said artist) and it’s what determines who gets to perform at the Super Bowl.

People who are making this about lil Wayne are just allowing emotions to get in the way of the Truth. Drake and/or lil Wayne would’ve been appropriate some years ago. Unfortunately, they’re being impulsive and reactionary, instead of responding with grace and logic. It is also important to keep in mind that the “host” city receives a shortlist of potential Artists and they determine who it will be. Whether it’s a vote or another method they use, the actual people involved with the City have the final say.

It really is a no brainer to go with dot to headline the SB. Wayne can barely get though 10 seconds of one of his song, it would be a terrible performance. Still a legend but the NFL dont give a shit about that, at the end of the day it is a business decision and no one doing numbers like Kendrick right now. And we all know Kendrick is going to give us a performance we will remember for a very long time and I can almost guarantee hes going to break the record for most viewed SB performance dethroning Riri

As always, great video, man. I feel like Kendrick definitely deserves the spot more than Wayne, cause his performances are some of the best I've seen in my life, and hopefully, I can go to one of his concerts one day. I wanted to talk about your point about being influential in terms of music at around 7:56. I feel as though you can also be influential through your messages, which Kendrick definitely is (btw, I've never really listened to Wayne, so I'll stick talking about Kendrick's music). Kendrick talks about so many things that other people haven't and makes me understand so many things about society I didn't get before. Especially with Mr Morale, I basically reevaluated my whole life and worked and am still working to make it better. His music this year made me understand to never become like the coloniser. Kendrick getting his music pushed out to so many ppl through the superbowl helps to further spread his both incredible work and music so many more youth like me can find it. Also, can someone tell nicki to go away pls 😭

He even said he supports The Green Bay Packers over The Saints? Boy 👋 You're 41 years old now, grow up and detox. Nobody wanna hear about drinking codeine, b*tches, ninjas, or killing your enemies babies. We've evolved, so has Hip-Hop, 50 years in. Time for everybody to grow tf up.
