I gotta get this out of my system. The "low ceiling" thing is so weird. In the NFL, about 95% of QB success is based on accuracy, throwing on time, and pocket awareness. You don't have to have a rocket arm. You don't have to run a 4.5. You have to read, react, and get the ball out on time with accuracy. Pickett does those things. Willis, Corral, and Ridder all struggle with reading defenses and throwing with accuracy under pressure. Howell comes the closest, imo, but I think KP is the clear QB1 this year and I think he'll be very successful as a pro.

Have you been paying attention at all to the last five years of qbs? So many more guys with the raw talent have developed at the pro level and become starting qbs than guys who were "pro ready". The NFL is changing, top level qbs have more effect on the game than ever. You cannot teach athleticism, but you can teach someone to read a defense.
@rellfacts2792 жыл бұрын
@@fryenchill2817 Yet Matthew Stafford and Joe Burrow still were in the SB. Neither of those guys possess that “raw talent”. You got your Josh Allen’s, Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson’s but you also have guys like Trey Lance or Jordan Love who both yet to hit the field because they are still raw. It’s a learning curve.

All you have to do is look at the QBs in the HOF right now, and it's pretty obvious that having a monster arm doesn't matter much. Almost all of the "big arm talent" guys flame out, because they never develop other skills around it. The host also said Pickett has "inconsistent timing" when Pitt almost exclusively ran timing routes this year (as the Steelers also will) and Kenny completed 67% of those throws... even though he only had 1 NFL level talent out there to throw to.

Inconsistent timing? Did you actually watch Pitt last year? Nearly our entire offense was timing routes, and... ya know... Kenny completed 67% of those throws. And he only had 1 NFL level talent running those routes. Also, worrying about Pickett being a one year wonder is wild considering all of the other QBs in this draft were 0 year wonders. At least Kenny has proven he can be great. A guy like Willis hasn't even proven he can competently run a HS offense that is completely built around his skillset... even playing against far inferior talent compared to Pickett in the ACC.

Everyone gets glued to the big arm, run first type QB. Which Willis is. But people forget, the shelf life of those QBs aren't impressive. Willis passing game needs a ton of work. But he also comes with a big bust potential as well. See Tim Tebow, the Geno Smith, Jeff George... A lot of hype, but big busts. I think Pickett is amazing passer, great a reading the defense, quick decisions, accurate and mobile. That type of QB tends to be more value that gets over looked a ton, but wins more. Age? Who cares!! Browns just dumped a fortune on a 26yr old QB to be the next decade guy. And let's not forget Tom Brady. The other qbs have potential, but during college came up short in big games, or lost when they shouldn't have. See VA tech and Sam Howell.

He has the traits of good qbs . Most qbs fail regardless of where they were drafted. So I definitely do not feel the same .from arm to accuracy and reading defense. He is actually comparable to Burrows. I don't think he is Burrows but I'm going to let the man play.

So Daniel Jones 2? His hands are big enough. The hand size only matters if they fumble alot. The age doesn't matter that much either unless he's close to 30. And the Lions and Texans WILL take QBs. Unless they're completely incompetent or the NFL riggs the draft. So malik willis and pickett will be gone.
@moderndaywyattearp57922 жыл бұрын
The Lions have so many holes to fill they won’t take a QB with the 2nd pick. They have Goff while not great, is a serviceable placeholder.

@@moderndaywyattearp5792 Most team that need a QB will wait til the 2023 draft. They can wait because most all of them have bridge QBs in place for 2022. The Seahawks might start a rookie but they do have Drew Lock. Most QBs in this draft have been projected to be backup QBs.

Funny enough I've been saying all of this since last fall. To me here is the bottom line though. I think he will be a quality QB. Maybe a Tony Romo type where he isn't elite at anything but is good at everything. His age, that fact that at this moment he was a 1 year wonder, and having small hands are all things to consider. But I see no reason this person should go somewhere in the 1st round. Particularly with how bad this QB class is.
@kenfresno21252 жыл бұрын
If he's as good as Romo, with the Steelers defense, he may win a Super Bowl before a guy like Jordan Love even touches the field as a starter.
@HALEIWA72 жыл бұрын
@@kenfresno2125 That certainly possible. But let's not forget the Steelers just gave up 40+ Sacks and came in dead last in run defense. Their team has a LONG way to go before they're anywhere near Super Bowl contention.

@@HALEIWA7 They improved their OL in free agency and their run defense was bad because their whole DL except Casey Hampton were injured last year (Tuitt, Alualu, and Carlos Davis). Also ILB Devin Bush was not fully recovered from his ACL injury They will contend this year.
