They are blind to these things". We have reached that point today. Everybody from the President to the the lowest Hustler is building flats, selling Chicken and eggs, stealing farm produce from one another and generally mingling as Hustlers, people oblivious of Class and good things of life. There were ample spaces for Children to play and we used to have inter-estate "Football Competitions" using a ball made of scrap paper. There was no overcrowding then because people lived in the rural areas. Now, everyone has migrated to town, and the small towns in the rural areas are dying because of lack of population while the Major towns are deteriorating because of increase in population. Do you know that Ruiru is the THIRD most populous Town in Kenya. All the farms are gone and if Uhuru subdivides his land and sells plots, Ruiru would be the 2nd most populous tow after Nairobi in 10 years.

What do you mean when you state that goodwill is corruption? You can always take a walk to the next landlord if you are not comfortable with paying goodwill. Goodwill is not a purchase price. It is the value built into the property due to its location, previous tenant and loyalty.

But this is normal even in developed countries...ive seen people buy a beach front apartment at a premium only for another developer to block it, kenya is a free market but to be honest that building is too close for a residential building i don't think stopping it is the solution I think we should by law enforce terracing residential buildings above certain heights to alow natural light for everyone as opposed to stopping the construction boom as we have a big housing deficit.

Bottomline houses have to be built and given our population growth it only makes sense to build more highrise buildings.Better do more high rises than converting all agricultural land in Kiambu into commercial land for rental houses. Given houses expensive the houses/rents are in Kilimani or Kileleshwa it is very unlikely that the people renting the houses will be poor .There are also thousands of people who grew up in Kilimani or Kileleshwa and it is very unlikely that they will go and rent houses in Eastlands,so let them live in the areas that they are comfortable in,meaning more high-rise have to be built.
