Nairobi is just overrated. Poor leadership and corruption will destroy the country. Even some areas in Kajiado, Ngong, and some rural areas in Kiambu, western, nyanza look way better than these so called posh estates.

I am an old guy who was an avid reader of "James Hedley Chase," way back in the 1960s. In one of the novels, a fellow was complaining as follows:- "Look at these people, they are oblivious of good value of things; Good Wine Good Food and Good Social Classes. They are blind to these things". We have reached that point today. Everybody from the President to the the lowest Hustler is building flats, selling Chicken and eggs, stealing farm produce from one another and generally mingling as Hustlers, people oblivious of Class and good things of life. That is the reason we no longer have Low Density Areas in our cities. Everywhere is a Slum these days.

I grew up in Nakuru and in the 1960s and 70s. In those days, there were only Government Estates, Nakuru Municipal Council and Kenya Railway Houses. There were ample spaces for Children to play and we used to have inter-estate "Football Competitions" using a ball made of scrap paper. There was no overcrowding then because people lived in the rural areas. Now, everyone has migrated to town, and the small towns in the rural areas are dying because of lack of population while the Major towns are deteriorating because of increase in population. Do you know that Ruiru is the THIRD most populous Town in Kenya. All the farms are gone and if Uhuru subdivides his land and sells plots, Ruiru would be the 2nd most populous tow after Nairobi in 10 years.

In the realm of urban development, Kenyans continuously evolve, reshaping their housing and infrastructure over time. What was once considered posh in areas like Buruburu in the 80s changed, what was once considered posh like Kilimani and kileleshwa will change, paving the way for new neighborhoods with improved amenities. It's not rocket science to understand how our communities adapt and transform, creating new standards for modern living.

School education does not change any of that because it is deeply engraved in the mind of an African not to have long range urban planning. @itsTheTruthTeller No, this is not proper - this is unplanned development. Properly-planned development of a city would provide infrastructure such as transport, and that would inspire building even further away from the city. There are no resources such as roads, sewerage, water, among other resources required to serve this high population.

@@kandisphere8828 @kandisphere8828 @kandisphere8828 @kandisphere8828 @kandisphere8828 so tf what if it's not proper?! It's fu**king growth and better this than remaining stagnant and not growing at all. There's transport and it's affordable. There's small towns and neighborhoods surrounding Nairobi proving that people are building further away from the city. Roads are there the previous government even built an expressway to prove that we have a good road network. Our sewer system is old and needs overhauling and we have water but the only thing stopping it from reaching ALL taps is because of cartels. The point I'm trying to make is we're not perfect and getting to that utopian cosmopolitan metropolis that you want takes time but at least we're working at it...

Given houses expensive the houses/rents are in Kilimani or Kileleshwa it is very unlikely that the people renting the houses will be poor .There are also thousands of people who grew up in Kilimani or Kileleshwa and it is very unlikely that they will go and rent houses in Eastlands,so let them live in the areas that they are comfortable in,meaning more high-rise have to be built.
