I LOVED Kwon as both a character and as a villain figure. There are two major reasons why I felt genuinely sad about his death. One, Kreese TOLD him that he had to be heartless. He taught him that he'll be a winner once he lets loose all of his hateful tendencies and rage. What does he do? He does exactly what his instructor teaches him to do, and he loses his mind because of it. He sells his soul to the Cobra Kai mantra: Strike First, Strike Hard... No Mercy. My second reason why I felt sad for his death is because despite all his rage and all his efforts, he still would keep on losing in the end. His rage boiled over when he thought of himself as both the strongest fighter and as a great failure for not being able to beat anyone when the time came. And when the eujongdo impailed him, that was it. He is a man even younger than me (I'm 22) that will never know what it is like to be loving, kind, and caring. He will never know love or friendship. His last thoughts in this world was that of showing no mercy... 😢

A better example is Hawk since he was left to navigate the Cobra Kai philosophy on his own with no one but Kreese to turn to. Yeah Miguel had a redemption arc and wasn't as bad as he was in S1, but that's due to his close relationship with Johnny, which I believe a lack of a close relationship with the right sensei is the reason Hawk got deeper into the Cobra Kai philosophy than Miguel did and took him longer to get out of it.

This is a story about snakes. Snakes bite themselves and die in the end. Ouroboros is a self-fulfilling prophesy. But as Mr. Miyagi said, there are no bad students, just bad teachers. Kreese and Master Kim are both accountable for Kwon's death. Kresse especially. Kresse stupidly fattened his head by making him captain when clearly, he is too prideful and reckless to be a leader. They let him loose and he got himself killed, with his Master's Knife. pure Ouroboros.
@DylansvspАй бұрын
He was likely meant to mirror a young Chozen. Also, he was taught for probably countless years that you need to win at all costs. It doesn’t matter if you have to kill, you have to win. He might’ve been meant to mirror Chozen but there was one key difference: Kwon didn’t get to chose “live or die…”

I also did not like the fact that Kwon was only effective against Robbie while Robbie was distracted - it felt like such a disingenuous choice for an Antagonist that you're building up as the rival for the final season, and it really undermines the image of Kwon, who had a really powerful introduction.

Just say he's a stunt man, martial arts don't work, even a street fighter can tell you that and street fighters have won against "martial artist" and "masters" people only got hyped for him because of his looks, no one would really care and this video wouldn't be a thing if he was like most of the cast, he lost because of his overconfidence and ego, that's the fate of alot of characters with great talent, any fighter would tell you this to, if you go in a fight with ego and arrogance then you are way more likely to lose

Plot beat Kwon. First fight Kwon should've washed Robby. They did NOT utilize Kwon to their fullest potential. Why set up this fierce, ruthless fighter just for him to be getting beat up by everyone in Miyagi Do. I expected him to be similar to how Axel is in terms of fighting. Second fight should've been closer, not Robby toying with him after Kwon beating Miguel. That's the major gripe I have with this part Cobra Kai should've been WAYYYY tougher. Robby beating Kwon and Yoon makes absolutely 0 sense and shouldn't have been in there, I understand it was a brawl but no way Robby taking on two of the best Students at Kim's dojang, especially after Eli had help from Kenny and Dimitri to take out Yoon alone.
@the-ironcladАй бұрын
It’s not plot. Kwon fought with blind rage. When you’re angry seeing red all the time, your fighting skills get very sloppy. You’ll lose to an under experienced fighter because they can keep their cool while you can’t. I think that was a better angle. Kwon’s story was a cautionary tale of what happens when you fight with rage and also shows the weakness of kreese’s philosophy.
