Lewandowski is living proof hard-work with progressive improvement can trump the most talented players. He didn't break out like Haaland, Messi, Mbappe. In fact, he was average at best, dismissed as a kid. He had to constantly, tirelessly work for the beast he is at 36. He never was rated as some kind of natural talent but a professional, a goal machine. It's a good inspiration for young kids who don't see themselves as talented they can look at him as proof talent doesn't matter if you cannot back it up by consistent work.

What I mean, when I say talented is being shoulder to shoulder with the most prolific players this generation if not history of football. He wasn't rated as such. He made his breakthrough late (round 23 years of age) and gradually. In fact, a lot of clubs didn't want him unlike your Messi, Ronaldo, or Mbappe or Haaland or any other generational player whose natural abilities made them desirable from a very young age. If you watch his biographical documentaries he said many times he was met with rejection due to lack of any distinct innate quality such as speed or height etc. What makes Lewandowski special is his work ethic, and professionalism. All managers that worked with him say his most distinctive quality is his professionalism in training and in games.

I wouldn't agree he was "average at best" - in Poland he was top striker and with every team he was going he was evolving - messi evolved faster be cause barcelona is way more developed club than any polish team. It's completely rational that you grew faster in better environment and better competition. Barcelona has the same squad as last season, arguably a worse squad on paper since now we don't have Cancelo and Felix so no proper depth for the fullback positions or left winger position and they are best team in the world this season. All because of the immense trust and confidence that Flick has for his players. He has unlocked players like Raphinha, Peña, a declining Lewandowski and Iñigo by putting all his trust in them.
