I was amazed by Lakshya Sen's consistency despite his young age, especially since consistency is often the issue with fast players like Ginting and LKY. Lakshya Sen against CTC is one of my favorite matches of the paris olympics.

I think all of his game work depends on his tactics only...becuz I feel he is quite inefficient on court.....but I don't mind ....he is still good ...all players are good of course

Lakshya was brilliant from the Group Stage right upto the SF. His matches against Christie & Chou Tien Chen were faultless. Until he reached 17-11 against Axelsen, he was flawless. Then nerves struck him. He even had 3 game points against an in-form reigning Olympic gold medallist. Thereafter, he lost to the mind game of Axelsen. He was donating gift points to a player who’ll grab them to the hilt. He started lifting shuttles which didn’t clear the mid-court & he was duly punished. He had lost the first game to Chou also but that didn’t worry him to scratch. He pocketed the next two with consummate ease. But against Axelsen & later for the bronze medal match against Lee Zee Jia (where he had easily won the first game), his game just crumpled at crunch moments. Both were his games to lose & he lost!! But, he’s young, determined & will undoubtedly be India’s baddie hope in LA. He’s a disciplined & humble kid mentored by the redoubtable Prakash Padukone & coached by Vimal Kumar. He’s India’s best hope to pocket a badminton medal in LA, preferably the medal that glows brightest. Here’s a badminton crazy septuagenarian wishing the nice kid nothing but the very best at LA that will make up for the Paris disappointment.

I've always found his short swing quite interesting. I initially thought it was a symptom of a not doing this properly, note that when he has time for a full smash, he still relies so much on forearm pronation and wrist instead of rotating his entire body. But you're right, it does allow him to recover so much quicker

Great analysis! Thanks for producing it. Could you analyse Gregoria Mariska Tunjung’s game to explain why her angles and change of pace are so deadly to other professionals?

Actually he is not like our normal mens singles player in india. In India our most players use deception as a main weapon but he plays more like foreign player using his speed and defence and counter smashes. That was one of the reason he got so much early success when he entered the senior international circuit. His main problem is his mind. Sometimes he just switches off and disappears from the court and lose a cluster of 5-10 points.

Lakshya Sen is the top player right now, but personally I am a little bit more excited about Priyanshu Rajawat. Both have different strengths though. Lakshya is very tactically savvy, has great defence, but has trouble in closing out rallies and his touch is not something quite on Ginting/Naraoka/Shi YQ's level. While Priyanshu has the touch to compete against these players and has a deadly smash/half-smash, his defence is more ordinary (still quite good though). His technique alone seems to be at least in the top 20 of the world to me, but he can... mentally tilt. Also has some big stamina issues (MASSIVE stamina issues). Funny how much these 2 mirror each other.

Lakshya has very strong attacks he just doesnt use in important matches socially when he was coming out slump before olympics qualification as winning the matches required him to be calm and keep patience Have you watched the first match of victor and lakshya with each other in all england 2020 ..he was just attacking all the time ..he did not have that great defence at that time ..its actually praiseworthy for lakshy who used to be only known for his attacks throughout his junior days started known as defensive player by many in senior days as how much he honed his defensive skills
