In my view Levi's are too caught up in the fast fashion business. I wish that they would go back the core of a well made pair of jeans that lasts 10 years. There is nothing better than a well worn pair of jeans that have faded with time, not these stretch jeans that lose their shape and you throw away after a year or two.

honestly, I won't give up on Levi's yet because they still produce some great denim even if they aren't manufactured in the U.S. It's just heartbreaking to now classify them as a hit-or-miss company because not too long ago having a pair of levis meant having a piece of clothing that will last you a lifetime. Now you have to go in-store to see if the quality is really good or not for you to wear your entire life.

Old Levi's (20years +) lasted almost forever. As I have replaced them with new 501s I have experienced rips, and belt loops detaching. Never had a chance to fully break my new ones in as they wore out in a matter of 18mo to 2 years. I expect this from washed/distressed jeans but not shrink to fit. Who makes quality raw denim now days?

The Levi's CEO is absolutely correct at 8:05 when he says they lost their mojo. I have been wearing and collecting Levi's since the late 1960s and have many dozens of jeans. But I haven't bought a new pair of Levis in around 20 years, not because they are made overseas, but because they are made from paper-thin sandpaper-rough poor quality cotton. No matter how much fake fading or factory holes are added, you just can't make a decent pair of jeans out of cheap cotton. Levis is getting so cheap that they went back to single stitching, which can unravel, just to save thread. The Levi's story is a great example of American business. It is a 150+ year old company that spent generations refining their jeans in an attempt to produce the highest quality product. The result, the Levis 501, is one of the greatest products ever created. But cheap foreign competition changed the equation to how far can Levi's lower the quality and still get away with charging a premium price. So instead what is being sold is ersatz Levi's and its time to cash out through the stock market.

As a teenager in the UK I bought my first pair of Levi jeans. They were expensive (3Pounds/pair) In about 1967/8 they changed the material. We had to buy them 2 inches too big so they shrunk to your size--not anymore. They went crap and lost their niche in the trendy stakes. I think the jacket quality lasted a little longer---the jacket cost 3 pounds 5 shillings back then. I now live in Thailand and laugh at all the fakes.

I will forever love Levi’s denim, especially the 511s. However I don’t like that they’re mass produced and how there’s flaws in every pair of jeans. I’ll wear my pair from time to time, but my loyalty is to Japanese selvedge denim. Construction wise, it’s just legendary, and the fabric is like no other. Most don’t even know the raw denim scene, nor selvedge, and most wont like it once after they encounter it. Brands like Iron Heart are AMAZING and imo the best at the denim world. Price is insanely high but you’ll understand once after you’ve worn them for the first time and how they really for years and years. Just my 2 cents.

I use to by Levis back in the late 60s. Levi shrink to fit made of good strong heavy denim it would shrink to a perfect fit. The dye would blled out and over many years would take on a look that can not in any other way but wear and wash achive. Many pairs worn over years. Then we got the preshunk nothing compared to the original, over the years they have changed the denim used and every year the material get thiner does not fade and then they add prosses to try get the fade look. look so crap, Ripping introduced what rubbish, add elastic in material, made with recycled plastic etc. No wonder there maket has hit the bottom. Just go back to making proper levis. And ones they now say original made in japan are no wear near as good. All we want is good old style hard wearing LEVI jeans like in the 60/70/80S

me ow Levis isn’t the best and obviously Calvin Klein isn’t either. Nudie, Acne, Naked and Famous, and unbranded have one of the best denim.

@@ayyy3606 A pair of Levis last me well over 7 years and is still going strong. Sure the color have faded but the stitching and the shape of the jean is still there. On the other hand brand like Naked and Famous and unbranded jeans lasted maybe 2 to 3 years before the crotch area needs re stitching already. I usually wait till there is a sale on Levis and just grab a pair of two.

Michael Yun Naked and Famous is on the cheaper end of high end jeans, same for Unbranded but I seriously doubt that the crotch will break on selvedge denim that easily. I’ve seen people with Levis have their jeans practically destroyed after only a year or 2.

🇺🇸 Buy vintage USA-made Levi’s items on eBay while you can. Same price as the imported Levi’s sold now, much better quality fabric, fit, and durability. Jeans are a commodity sold in Walmart, Dollar General, etc....Levi’s brand is completely irrelevant today. Walk into a Levi’s store at your outlets mall and listen for crickets.

"Levi’s brand is completely irrelevant today. Walk into a Levi’s store at your outlets mall and listen for crickets." Completely untrue. In Europe, where Levis had a spike in sales for 3 years straight, most preteens, teens and young adults have been obsessed with the Levis Batwing logo shirts for the past 3 summers now. You couldn't walk around any European metropolis without seeing a Levis batwing shirt on every other European teenager/20something guy or girl. The Levis Batwing shirt is a coveted "must have" It-piece in summer wardrobes. Also, Levis outlets are always jammed with European, Asian and foreign tourists buying bags of Levis when I visit fashion outlets in California.

M j G I have a completely different experience in the USA, particularly after Levi’s started manufacture overseas in Bangladesh, Asia, after 2004. Most commenters on this video agree (see below). But, you’ll have the opportunity to buy Levi’s stock this year; it’s a one-trick pony company, but if you feel invested in your thought about gangbuster sales, buying the IPO of Levi’s should be a winning idea for you. 😃 💵 I’m not being facetious...It could make you rich if you are right. Peace, MjG

Levi’s are not Levi’s anymore and haven’t been for a long time. A pair of Levi’s lasts less than a year these days. Compare a pair of 47MWZ’s to Levi’s 501s. It’s laughable.

Although I grew up craving a pair of Levis and wore them when I was young I gravitated towards traditional work pants (for work). However, I will say Wrangler is the company that just hasn't changed their core product and value for dollar is much better than Levis. When I was a kid Wranglers just were not popular in Colorado and Levis were a status symbol of the 70's (as a kid). However, as an adult I would almost be prouder to wear a pair of Wranglers. The stitching and construction I see for Levi's on the racks of overseas military exchanges is appalling and something I'd never buy in a hundred years. The Levi's I grew up wearing didn't need to be researched and bought off the internet. One would go to a store in town and buy made in America denim that was constructed into Jeans in America.

Their main problem is you can find equal of not better quality for half the price. Also why do these companies get involved with politics. Just make a product people want to buy and feel is a good value.

In the past, a lot of time I had to buy Levis men jeans as my size 27-28/32 was difficult to find in girl sizes. Most female jeans were on the short side for me. Now they changed the design and the Levis jeans fit me better. Only I am not a fan of skinny jeans. Although I am quite thin and have long legs, I still look sort of fat in super skinny jeans. I prefer boot cut ones. I have some CK, Diesel, and RL jeans. They all fit me better than most Levis I have. I once wanted to buy some brown jeans. It was impossible to find that in any store I tried.
