Who else played this lesser known SEGA classic? Were you a fan from before or did you discover it with a more recent collection/re-release?

I have so many good memories of this game growing up. One of my Genesis favorites, up there with Phantasy Star 4 and Sonic.

I bought this game on a whim, and REALLY got into it. I was a big fan of how the whole thing took place in a single dungeon; for whatever reason, I was really into that at the time. I did find some of the puzzles to be a little frustrating - Penumbra will haunt my dreams until the day that I die - but some of them (like the music box) were really cool, and overall, it's just such an incredible journey. The menu music was oddly soothing, too.

I was looking into isometric games on the Genesis, which included Light Crusader. Serendipity that you post a vid on it shortly after. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I loved Treasure's games but this one completely passed me by back in the day -- love to see a rerelease for it on modern consoles
@IDreamOfRetro Жыл бұрын
It is backwards compatible as part of the Genesis Collection released on Xbox One, more than likely the PS4 version is playable on PS5, and there is a Switch version as well.

I first discovered this game in the early 2000s while trying out random games I found on a hosting site and using Kega Fusion. I was shocked Treasure invested in creating an RPG as they are typically known for action games but I found the graphics charming and the music pretty memorable. My only two gripes is that it has the same confusing isometric controls that gets in the way especially while jumping just like many isometric games of the day and the other is the the puzzles. Some of the puzzles are really abstract where I just couldn't figure it out and had to seek out FAQs on what to do while others are simple but very frustrating where if you make a mistake you have to leave the room and repeat the steps all over again. I've never beaten it but overall it's a great game.

Some indie games are too artsy where they just turn into a creepy pasta story instead of a videogame

Oh i love this game. At least i THINK i do. Is this a port of the arcade game Light Bringer? Looks very similiar. Its kind of a tough game to find but ive got it running on a couple of my Anbernic handhelds. Had no idea there were other ports that are probably easier to find and get running at full speed. Really appreciate videos like these to bring attention to rare gems.

It most definitely is not Light Bringer, though they do look similar.
