I switched for good about 60 days ago. My I miss office and I probably do depend on Steam/Proton, but so far it's been a really good thing. Linux Mint Cinnamon

Been Linux now for about 25 yrs and as my only operating system since 2019 and never looked back.Tried many versions and love them all and cussed them all from time to time.I could never use Windows or Mac again as they are both too controlling and the Microsoft spyware is intolerable.Great channel Josh love your content.

I love your channel. I switched from Windows 11 to Kubuntu and also Zorin, which I love. I still have a W11 dual boot for some resource hungry games, but I'm "living" in Linux with no regrets. Thanks to you and the Linux community for being there to help.

I use mint and ubuntu! but now starting to cross over to other flava's! thanks to you and chris titus both of you I've been with since day 1. I watched when chris made that decision to use linux about 5 yrs ago and he has never looked back. I got more into you when I checked out your online course.

I started using Linux in 1998. Used Desktop Linux almost exclusively until 2008. Now, I have to use all 3 major OSs for various tasks and home lab so i can better do my day job. As long as its fun, i will keep an item or OS around.

I just switched to Linux from Windows. I'm using Nobara and absolutely love it. I had been wanting to switch to Linux since I was 15 in 1999, but never had the chance until MS finally pushed me over the edge with Windows 11 and all their crap. I wish I had pulled the trigger on this years ago. I'm never going back to Windows, ever.

Lifelong Mac user here. My gateway to Linux was using OS X (based on BSD) terminal commands. Later I got into PC gaming and got fed up with Windows 11 so I wiped my disk for desktop Linux using Steam with Proton. Now I split my time between Linux and MacOS and power my network on OpenWRT.

Full disclaimer - I’m a huge desktop Linux supporter and run it as a primary OS for personal and business. WTBS, I don’t think DESKTOP Linux will ever go mainstream and will struggle to cross 5-6% global adoption. Nobody cares about the OS they run. They just care about applications. And no, Linux doesn’t have applications OR they are a second thought for developers particularly proprietary developers. MANY programs even though available for Linux are crippled on Linux like MS Teams, Discord, Davinci Resolve, Slack, etc. And I don’t want to even get into the Wayland vs. X issue. In the end, mainstream people don’t care. Desktop Linux will always be for enthusiasts.

Honestly, I don’t think I want Linux to go mainstream. Look at canonical and Ubuntu, they’re closing the source code of some of the software. That’s not a good thing…

@@robotron1236 I don’t want it to go mainstream either. I want to be different 😂
@robotron12362 ай бұрын
@@drumpf4all Exactly. Ubuntu/ Canonical exemplifies everything wrong with linux getting popular. They're literally closing the source code of certain software which is the exact opposite of what Linux is supposed to be.

Why is discord crippled? Works fine.

@@sebastianbauer4768 way more features on windows version than Linux. Linux version was an afterthought for the discord devs.

Left the IT business 12-years ago. As of late, I see a business opportunity in Linux migration, integration, install, support, and networking. I have been training up on Ubuntu Server, and the integrating of it with Window$. _So many commands, so little time._

6:58 Linux is the default OS for most supercomputers. It won't be long before it doubles its share in the desktop market, because Germany is starting to replace Windows in many offices with Linux (OpenSUSE, I presume).

Blender 3d f.e. showcase really what can be with a powerful standard linux fundament base.... But open source means not really its all free no money, no cost ,, I can have it free lets take it let other do all the work & give it to me and take it without thinking....... Open source means Community.. I hope ppl. spread the information more thoughtful with a little bit more thinking that no cost is not the only thing and thats why is fun ...sry thats to simple ... hope ppl. even see more than cost in open source and communicate it in a much much more brought way... Community driven developement need also money even its way more important than ppl often think spec.when a big donator or fund is not all around.. The open source systems need every hand from dev. to testing to spending to funding to helping others with informations etc. . We need software that is not controlled by only a tiny minority.. Its so important...
