CB's in Amorim's 3-4-3 need a good sense of interceptions and the ability to play vertical passes. Licha does it really well (refer build of his goal against Liverpool this season). This trait and good ball playing ability becomes really really important because if the opposition realises that CBs don't have pace, can't make vertical passes or can't carry the ball forward, they will first block passing avenues to the wingbacks thereby nullifying the system to some extent. The weakest point in Amorim's 3-4-3 is the midfield pivot especially if it comes up against a opposition of 3 midfielders. We need CBs that are quick and can play vertical balls plus jump into midfield to help the midfield pivot when the opposition is building from the back. I'm hopeful Yoro and Licha can be two for the future.

I know he's never fit but I've been thinking that Luke Shaw becomes a back up left-sided CB. The late runs he can make to help create overloads, create chances or score goals almost as a libero similar to how Bastoni plays at Inter, or like how Licha has been in recent weeks. It even worked when Mazroaui was the right CB.

Not the exactly the question you asked AJ, but here is my thought. We need 6 fantastic CB's to be able to rotate between regularly, we currently have 4 solid options in Licha, De Ligt, Maguire, Yoro (Still Developing) in and 1 alternative option in Mazraoui, that covers 5 of our options. Evans and Lindelöf should be moved on. I think our 6th option here should be a new signing for the summer. A no nonsense Centre Back with a Vidic like presence, Strahinja Pavlović. Someone like him alongside Licha could massively complement his on the ball abilities while making up for defensive issues.

Just asking, can you do vid on Amorim having actually tweaked the system without us realising - this happened for me when Goldbridge said we've gone from a 343 to a 5221, because Maza and Dalot are FBs, not WBs and so we've conceded much less goals at the expense of scoring goals.

When we concede from sloppy defending it bothers me. At the moment we don't have any player who is that good on the ball especially the Left side of the defence. I think he can improve with more training. The whole team needs to improve they have all been wanting defensively. I think we should keep playing him but have someone from the academy who can switch with him from game to game. His attacking attributes are too valuable no one else can do what he does.

It's an intimidation tactic and very effective, you can use it when you're unsure what's behind you and to make someone back out of a challenge. His best season was under ETH. We kept the most clean sheets in the league. When he was injured most of the season we missed him badly. When his defensive partners were playing badly it made him also look bad. He struggled after injury but he's coming back to form now. I dunno why u think ETH mismanaged him.
