Lockdown football also being the peak of banter era Spurs and Arsenal at the same time was carnage. Spurs qualified for the conference league (a tournament they were only in because they blew a 3 goal lead to West Ham with 6 minutes to go), and although football fans were back, they got eliminated by covid striking the team. Meanwhile Arsenal somehow managed to win an FA cup, get rattled by Neal Maupay, be in a relegation scrap in december and spawn Emi Martinez back from loan hell to go on to world cup glory.

As a West Ham fan, lockdown West Ham was so different, at the start of the season our fans were 8% optimistic about the season, a lot of the fanbase (including me i must admit) thought our season was to head for Relegation before it even started as there was so much uproar about own ownership and how the club sold at the time a high talent in Grady Diangana Lost our opening 2 matches against Newcastle and Arsenal, but the game that really started what was going to be a great season was that 4-0 win over Wolves. We were 3-0 down away at Spurs with 10 mins to go and pulled it back to 3-3 with an absolute screamer from Lanzini. Soucek was different gravy alongside his Czech mate Vlad Coufal. Jesse Lingard was unstoppable when he came in on loan in January. Fast forward to the end of the season we had finished 6th which was beyond our wildest expectations to be in the Europa League the following campaign. Sometimes i even really do have to look back and think was this West Ham team even real 🤣🤣🤣

Probably my strongest memory when it came to lockdown and football was the artificial crowd noise. Here in the US for a super short time, you had a choice to watch the game with or without the crowd noise. During that window, I chose without because I wanted to experience the weirdness that was lockdown sports in its real form.

Lockdown football was crazy as a Luton fan, when the championship was paused we looked dead and buried set for relegation to league 1. Nathan Jones comes back just over a year after he unceremoniously left the club for Stoke and we go on a crazy run staying up on the last day beating Blackburn 3-2 thanks to 2 own goals and a penalty.
