This is causing the housing market and the overall cost of living to go up drastically. Causing it where a lot of Puerto Rican’s can’t afford to live there which is forcing them to leave their land and move to the states. This happened to hawai when we turned it from a territory into a state. A ton of rich Americans moved there causing the overall cost of living and the housing market to go up dramatically. A really big amount of Hawaiians had to leave hawai and move to the states due to the fact they can’t afford to live in their own land anymore. If Puerto Rico ever becomes a state and more rich Americans come in which is a high possibility many more Puerto Rican’s will be forced to move into other states due to the cost of living.

Taxes in Panama are territorial. So if you made money outside the country you don’t need to pay taxes for that here. Also we have the highest minimum wage +$700 Our custom tax also known as IVA or ITBMS here is %7 for most goods (there are exceptions), 10% alcohol and 15% cigarettes. We are cheaper than LA and somehow similar to Orlando or NY (I went there I see everything cheap but because some prices were very similar to ours) We use the American Dollar Even tho we have the Balboa it’s just for symbolism the dollar is the main one We also have a lot of benefits for pensioners, retirees and soldiers. The best ones I heard. Sometimes more than 20% off in almost everything. No matter if you are local or foreigners. But the con part honestly, the public services are awful (except the subway), so have a good insurance for the private hospital. That’s actually cheap compared to USA. And for privates schools we have the best private education in the region. You need a car here it’s not a luxury it’s a need. A 4x4 if possible. Because we don’t have 4 seasons we have 2 “stations” the dry and wet. So as a tropical jungle environment. We have rains from may to December. But mostly in the capital. A lot of people here speaks multiple languages and our Spanish is pretty different and we put some Spanglish on it. Also French. Culturally, you can actually call a black person “Hey black person” and he will reply normally. Yeah we are 80% mixed so you can call the Chinese, Chinese, the black black and the white white. And the fat fat and so... We call people by obvious adjectives. It’s silly but that’s our thing. And yeah people think we are rude because we don’t take things too seriously until a foreigner critiques our beautiful country. Btw no need to loose you citizenship here. We have benefits for all. Hurricanes typically cut power to the island, and according to what happened in Maria, the island got cut out completely and took more than half a year to recover. If you live in popular cities like San Juan, or a town close to there, you'll be one of the first to receive light. If you live in the mountains, you won't get flooded, but electricity will come slower, or risk getting flooded but receiving electricity faster. It depends on the place you'll live, but it doesn't mean floods are common like in Texas. It's really nice here, we have a distinct culture, and we have a lot of big stuff over here, like the world's biggest JCPenny, in Plaza las Americas! YOU better have spare generators, spare SOLAR PANELS secured in a spot that wont let them get broke or ruined by flooding, as well as the DC to AC converter, and battery packs. Plus keep tons of bottled water, Level 3+ bulletproof vest, and the CONDOR AIR-FORCE air rifle that shoots .30 caliber pellets with enough force to penetrate and kill a wild hog. You dont need a gun permit or back ground check for that. IF You can own AR15's there, and handguns,..Id suggest you get one.
