Very nice summary of what makes this film so genius. I especially liked the point you made that a film that doesn't have a crazy ambitious plot allows us to just settle back and get to know the characters. This has been the main complaint I have had with every single Pixar film. To finally have a Pixar film that doesn't just say it's about the characters, but actually IS all about the characters? Priceless.

I loved your review. It's so simple and yet so brilliant. Just like the movie. After watching the movie for first time I also became a sobbing mess and since then got a little obsessed. I've been looking for every review or analysis I could find. Watched the early plot drafts and even got hooked on some Luca themed animated music videos ("Lost - Luca x Alberto" by @KitsuKitx has 15M views for a reason, most are repeats). A few tips for the video making. The loud crying was way too loud, don't let memes be more louder than the normal video. Always put outline on the text. Single color text doesn't look good, even if it has enough contrast with the rest of the video. Keep making videos. You'll get your viral hit before your 100'th video. ;)

I agree with you. However, the LGBTQ theme isn't meant to be romantic in my opinion, i see the sea monster reveal as a metaphor for LGBTQ. The theme of acceptance is just so prominent that I think it shines through to those who relate in that way. Especially the line "some people will never accept him, but he seems to find the good ones." man i cried lol. Great review!
