Great information. Thank you! My family and I are looking to make the big move to Portugal next year. Not sure where we will end up yet, but Madeira is one of the areas to consider. We will be in a similar situation as you guys since our 22 year old son will be moving with us as well. I often get worried about having him move to a foreign place where he does not know the language and does not know other people his age. How’s it been for your son? Has he been able to meet people his age?

So true about being drug along by your stuff. The cost of maintaining a home and vehicles alone can consume a huge amount of one's budget. I rather invest more in time with friends and exploring God's beautiful creation. Madeira seems to be an excellent choice to shift our priorities from stuff to people and adventure. You are so right about shedding the materialistic life and collecting experiences. Maintaining all of our “stuff” is exhausting, time consuming and expensive. We seem to spend the first 1/2 of our lives accumulating stuff and the remaining 1/2 wasting our money on maintaining it. Yours is a powerful message and so glad that Wolf could join you.
