A more minor thing in terms of why evolutions are usually better, but in later Gens (where Eviolite was recently introduced to begin with), Knock Off being such a good and common move makes the Pre-Evolutions more likely to be crippled by losing Eviolite compared to an Evolution which is relatively less impacted by item removal.
@wolfekupo5651Ай бұрын
a thing to note, not all of these not fully evolved pokemon always used a Eviolite, Murkrow is already really frail so it would normally run a Focus Sash instead
@geometryemperorАй бұрын
They also added more ways to protect your items from Knock Off, such as Mega Evolutions and Z-Moves, which meant that they could switch into Knock Off. This was what made some of the Eviolite mons better in those generations. Then once they got removed, they fell off, letting their evolved counterparts surpass them again.
@creeperman1295Ай бұрын
@@geometryemperor That reminds me of Dipplin having Sticky Hold which is a godsend on a pre-evolution like that to keep Eviolite. In its case, it's the better attacking stats, movepool, and even ability in Regenerator (most of the time) that put Hydrapple above its prevo.

i've looked through the whole dex and have a few more fringe examples. haunter is technically viable because unlike gengar it didn't lose levitate which is extremely useful for it as a spinblocker, there's a case for basculin-blue stripe since it's faster than basculegion and has rock head so you don't die from two wave crashes, eevee used to have a niche with extreme evoboost shenanigans, meltan has magnet pull which is funny but technically a niche, base rotom is cool since it's faster and keeps its unique ghost/electric typing which is great with levitate, charjabug is obviously a premium funny button for doubles teams with battery, clamperl has a higher special attack than mega mewtwo y with deep sea tooth and access to shell smash, and doublade has no guard so if you wanna use aegislash but hate missing poltergeist that's an option. there's also some unique traits that some lines lose that aren't good but still cool, like how bagon has sheer force and dragon dance which is absolutely terrifying in lc, and numel has simple with access to curse, flame charge, amnesia, etc.

Regarding the sponsor, I have been looking at the Redmagic 9S Pro, and I have some things to share about it that I think people should be mindful of. The good stuff: The hardware specs are truly very good. Higher spec than other flagships from more known brands for almost half the price. The design is very clever, for example there is no raised camera bulge like with other flagships because it makes it easier to hold in landscape mode for gaming. Extremely attractive price for this high-end of a phone. There is no ugly notch or hole punch camera. It has an under-the-display front camera which gives the phone a VERY high screen to body ratio. The bad stuff: Under-the-display camera is not the best. Fine if you don't take a lot of selfies No wireless charging - be aware if this is important to you The Redmagic OS is not as feature rich as some of the others like Pixel OS or Samsung OS. Overall it is a very interesting phone for sure. There is also the Nubia Z60 Ultra "Leading Version" which is very similar, if you are like me and don't necessarily vibe with the "gamer" aesthetic. Regardless, a cool sponsor for Freezai. I'll be sure to use his link if I do decide to cop one!

Uhh, Electivire being better than Electabuzz is debatable. Electabuzz is faster, while it also has the same base special attack as Electivire. Very often, Electivire will enter the field, get hit because it's slower and accomplish nothing, or survive and then hit itself with recoil damage from Wild Charge or Supermeme Slam, accelerating the process anyway. Meanwhile, Electabuzz can put its ok special attack to use thanks to its higher speed, to at the very least do some damage before it succumbs to anything.
@blissbuАй бұрын
They just fill two different niches. Electivire's is "Never ever use an electric attack against my team" and is a better wallbreaker than Electabuzz due to Bulk Up and stuff like that, while Electabuzz is definitely the better fast pivot

There's something a bit hilariously ironic about pikachu's being able to outperform raichu in terms of raw damage, while ultimately being the less viable option due to raichu's superior speed and skills apart from electrical attacks. I, and several people were introduced to raichu in the Electric Shock Showdown episode of the anime, which portrayed it as superior to pikachu in terms of raw damage, but ultimately got beat by pikachu due to pikachu's superior speed and skills apart from electrical attacks. I guess the anime is an infamously poor lesson in how to play the games, recalling the Aim For The Horn incident, but still...

Expected to see Mega Chomp. All other things aside, Mega Chomp having 92 base speed instead of 102 arguably singlehandedly made it worse than regular. If Garchomp had 99 base speed instead of 102, it does not get banned in gen 4. It also does not take until gen 9 to drop out of OU. Ground type STAB to hit steel was strong, but being able to outspeed the many base 100s (which include both Salamence and Flygon) made it nearly uncounterable in it's hayday. About the only thing Garchomp really feared were the Lati twins, and Weavile was set dependent and only semi-reliable. Weavile had a low chance to OHKO bulky Garchomp even with ice punch (virtually none without SR up) and would always be OHKOed back after rough skin with SR up. Garchomp with the Haxorus or Hydreigon treatment of a speed tier just slightly short isn't anywhere near the menace.

Mega garchomp just has a different role. It's not worse, it's different. Garchomp is a fast sweeper with choice band/scarf or a sword dance set. Or he can be a defensive support with Rocky helmet/Leftovers and stealth rock. But mega garchomp is a wall BREAKER. It's still fast enough that it will outspeed most defensive pokemon. And extremely bulky so it is hard to get rid of, especially for defensive pokemon. And you cant afford to wait for toxic to do the job, because it hits way too hard, both physcislly and specially. And it has a great move pool to take advantage of its crazy stats. Stab earthquake and outrage, and then coverage moves like fire blast, Poison jab, Brick Break, iron head, shadow claw, crunch, stone edge. It even gets surf and Aqua tail. Somewhere in there is a move set that will hit your entire team for super effective damage.
