Way to go Jimmy and Pauline. I have to concur with you. Malaysia is SEA-lite for westerners, affordable modern metropolis for other Asians without the hefty price tag and cultural melting pot for the forward thinking digital nomads. It really has so much to offer. I just love the cooled down evenings after the monsoon rain where the streets and commercial hub come back to life. Amazing!!!

I stayed in Perth for 2 yrs. Found it extremely boring. It's beautiful but shops close at 5. Only close later 7pm on Thursday night , Fri and weekends at 9 and 10 pm respectively. Very quiet after 5. Not exuberant like KL. After 2 yrs, we headed home to Malaysia. We felt so alive back home. Also food prices in Australia was not cheap then and more expensive now

Not verified so take it with a grain of salt, but new king from Johor has supposedly been more critical of the changes to mm2h and is more business friendly toward foreign investments, from what ive seen the most affordable version of new mm2h is the silver option 5 year family visa requiring not a monthly income but roughly $100k investment similar to the previous mm2h where the money is held but can be used after a year to buy property or pay for healthcare

I worry that a day would come where Malaysia becomes too touristy and that has a negative impact on locals in terms of cost of living, culture, security etc. Call me selfish but I'd like to keep this amazing county as a *relatively* low profile destination. For example, very open borders means easy access to some categories of very unwelcome people who abuse the privilege as evidenced by recent raids on undocumented immigrants.

Making Malaysia a starting point for your SEA holiday will be setting the standards pretty high in terms of expectations for the rest of your SEA holiday. I'll advise you to make Malaysia your final stop and make it a longer stay to rest and recover from your previous hectic SEA holiday schedule. You'll appreciate the relaxing nature and yet modern holiday experience in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Just my 2 cents.😊✌️

Great video, Jimmy and Pauline. You've captured the one attraction the majority of travelling KZbinrs miss - that Malaysia is 𝙛𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙛𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙡𝙮. True, KL doesn't have the glitzy allure of Bangkok, for instance. But that kind of showy, ostentatious appeal is for hot-blooded testosterone-laden jocks. So for younger travellers looking for R-rated excitement, Malaysia will certainly lose out. For a touring family, however, Malaysia certainly ticks all the boxes as a family-friendly destination. Once again, great video, and a helpful one as well.
