Malaysia is the most popular retirement haven for expats in Southeast Asia and has been a popular expat hangout since the early 1920s. Malaysia’s beaches are also second to none. Its islands, listed in various world surveys, regularly make it in to the top 10 best lists in the world, and if you like jungle trekking and all of the fauna and flora that comes with it, Malaysia’s jungles and parks are some of the best, and biggest, in Southeast Asia.
Malaysia is in central Southeast Asia, and its neighbors, Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia, are great places for weekend getaways. Malaysia’s international airports have direct flights to Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Borneo, China, Taiwan, India, France, London, and The Philippines. You could be sipping cocktails at the Foreign Correspondents Club (The FCC) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital, overlooking the Mekong River, in about two and a half hours.
In this video, Andrew explains why he loves Malaysia.

I went to many countries in the past.. america, canada, france, UK, italy, singapore, thailand, australia, etc.. in my opinion Malaysia is the best country to live. Good cost of living, good healthcare, good food, friendly people and most importantly, they still believe in God (good morality). The problem is many Malaysians don't realize this and there are possibilities for political disputes to ruin all these good things.

I'm in my late 40s and was living in Europe during the early pandemic and seen horrible situation there and also lost my good friends and neighbours. Not sure you are an Asian or ever been to any Asian countries though. It is not just Malaysia, the virtue of helping and caring each other during the crisis also happened to other Asian countries as part of our cultures. As example during the economic crisis in 1998 , Thai people donated all their wealth included women of their gold and jewelleries in helping the government to overcome the crisis. We don't need you the Westerners to validate or recognise us at all. Just look at your own country and care your own people, mostly friends, families and neighbours.

If you notice, Malaysia do not advertise its Islands due to commercialization. There are laws on advertising the islands due to protection. Malaysia plans to be underrated than overated.

The government workers are friendly and competent. IF you leave your arrogance and self expectations outside. The red tape is the system. NOT the people. Unfortunately some Malaysians themselves dont get it and demand things their way. Glad it took someone with outside experience to showcase this

Malaysia is a very pleasant country to live in as it is. It is not perfect but it has many positives and it’s beautiful here. I have lived in the UK. It was enjoyable but the weather was horrible and cost of living exorbitant.

Malaysia is an offordable country to live in. Reason being the low petrol price. Automatically transportation or land logistics costs played a main part in everything. Ron 95 = rm2.05/L (USD0.46/L), Ron 97 = rm3.35/L (USD0.76/L) Diesel = rm2.15/L (USD0.49/L)

I have always loved Malaysia and respect it’s people. As an American investor, I would stay away from the greater East Asian and ASEAN region due to the growing conflicts and the strong likelihood of a greater war in the coming years. I hope that no such conflicts arise as I am generally against wars. I wish peace and prosperity to everyone in the greater ASEAN region.
