Love the concept of the Gospel scene occurring at dawn. MM certainly is an Apostle to the Apostles - we need one today. Nice development of why Jesus says not to cling to Him; so He can go, prepare a place for us, and let us be empowered by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Peace

It says volumes that the women weren’t to touch him, but the disciples were able to embrace him, yet another piece of scripture denoting the reception of the Holy Eucharist from Consecrated hands, and not to be placed in any unconsecrated hand.

G'day from Australia 🦘 Thank you Curtis. Your podcasts are fantastic. Just returned to the Catholic faith after a very long hiatus. Yes, these podcasts are really helpful and necessary to grow in one's faith and make the Bible accessible. THANK YOU SINCERELY! Keep up the great work.

As a convert, I was placed at the Foot of His Cross...with Mary who guided my intellect and strengthened my faith. After my husband passed away, Holy Spirit gave me St. Mary Magdelene...to learn Divine Intimacy and learn to be a contemplative, with focus on the memory, healing, and forgiveness. Here, with Magedelen, I stay until Holy Spirit gives me St. John the Beloved to learn total surrender of the will and true charity.

Thank you so much for this meditation on St. Mary Magdalene. First of all, you helped her resonate with me in a way she hasn’t before. And you also clarified what for me was always a baffling scripture… “Do not hold onto me for I have not yet ascended to my Father” May God bless you!

Great insight! Mary the Mother of Jesus is Traditionally held to have been the first to see Our Risen Lord, as well as some Saints hold it to be inconceivable that His Blessed Mother would have been second or third in line..God Bless.

According to Blessed Ann Catherine Emmerich Mary was the sister of Martha and Lazarus. Her inheritance was the "castle at Magdala" gained by lot upon her Syrian father's death. She was a very rich spoiled young woman with "modern" morals and allowing the carnal demons enter her. She fell away twice from following Christ before she converts completely.

There is something I don`t understand: if Jesus headed directly from the cross into the hell and at the third day He went to heaven, then why He assured to one of the thieves that he would be with Him on heaven that night? didn´t He spend that night in hell?
@sundayscripturestudyforcat7803 жыл бұрын
Hi Marta - That's a good question. Jesus did not tell the Good Thief he would join him in heaven, but that "this night you will be with me in paradise." Jesus did not descend to the hell of the damned, but to Sheol (or Hades), the place of the dead (it was sometimes called "hell" in the old English translations of the Creed). Sheol was though to be divided into two regions: one where the souls of evil men went to dwell (which some think later became the hell of the damned), and another where the souls of the righteous went to dwell waiting to be freed at the time of Jesus' death, resurrection, and ascension into heaven. This place of the righteous was also called "paradise". We get a glimpse of this in the story of Lazarus and the Rich Man in Luke's Gospel where it is called, "the bosom of Abraham". Thus, the Good Thief went to the place of the righteous dead where Jesus descended, and only later (after the Ascension of Jesus) went to heaven to be with Jesus forever. Hope that helps.

@@sundayscripturestudyforcat780 Thank you very much. I had heard about different 'locations' for the good and bad people before the coming of Jesus, but I didn't know the rest of your explanation. Very clear, thanks.

So Mary couldn't touch Christ Sunday morning until he returned to the Father, yet we know that Jesus is touched for sure by Thomas in the upper room and it's heard to imagine Peter etc, for example, coming in from fishing at dawn and Jesus is making them breakfast, that the Apostles wouldn't have been hugging and embracing him. So he was off limits to human touching until his Ascension? Or post visiting the Bosom of Abraham/Hell/Hades and bring the Jewish ELECT in a Paradise, including the Good Theif, that he had "fulfilled the return to the Father" and thus during the next 40 days could be touched etc again. Clueless on your last point.
