Someone’s age does not determine how mature they are. Maturity comes down to how people react to different situations and environments based on the experience that they have. If you are wondering how mature you, your romantic partner, or the people that surround you are, keep watching!
Do you want to know what's your mental age? We made a video on that to: • What Is Your Mental Ag...
Disclaimer: Of course, different circumstances will affect the things you or the people surrounding you say, which is why a specific explanation will be given for why each phrase would never be said by a mature person. If you can relate to any of these signs, please do not take this feedback as an attack on your character. This video was meant to be a self-improvement guide for those of you who have been feeling a little stuck.

@@seasaw1749 well not always, it can oftentimes end up being said for a variety of other reasons. some of these are very situational. "whatever" for example can just be a way of saying "it is what it is" when it comes to talking about yourself, for example "this water tastes a little weird but whatever" can signify that you actually are pretty mature in that you can tolerate something not being the way you want it to be. this doesn't apply when it's saying "whatever" to other people but if its something situational like I just mentioned it doesn't necessarily indicate immaturity. Many phrases are simply situational and putting the labels on these phrases make them sound a little worse than they can be.

She throws tantrums like a bratty three year old. Asked her son if that was her normal--yup. I thought it was the onset of dementia. She's 77. She'll take her emotional angst out on whoever is handy. I've gone years taking on a LOT pretty much hardly saying "No". Took me a while, but I finally came with a personal compromise, as I realized the problem was taking on too much emotionally/physically at once. My husband knows when I genuinely can or cannot help and respects my wording of "I'm not up to it right now" it usually means I'm having a hard time focusing on too tired to even stand. So, if I can't he moves on even if he has a lot. I feel this relates to what you said, as I didn't have emotional boundaries early on and took on a very stressful job that wouldn't take "No" but encouraged out of the box thinking. But sometimes you just gotta know when you can't, genuinely. It's give and take. I getchya!

I know it's most definitely joking around, but a reminder that it's not often the words themselves, but like the video said it's the tone and context they have been said. "Shut up" can be a reaction to a cringey joke, "why can't you do it?" can be a genuine question, and I'm sure you can use always or never regarding things things you've liked/disliked since childhood. Really, it's about intent; the words are more a common byproduct of all these bad habits of immaturity.

Hello.I am a 13 going on 14 yr old girl in 8th grade and I struggle with really bad anxiety and social anxiety. Today I went to Walmart and I was buying something for myself and I offered for my grandma to go before me to check out and she told me to go ahead and pay, I nearly had a panic attack while digging to the bottom of my purse to get change and when I have it to the guy I was shaking really bad. My parents and grandparents have no idea about my anxiety because I mainly self diagnosed it and they would say "its just you being shy" or "pshaw you don't have anxiety you don't act like it" I mainly have panic attacks at school when there is a fight between my friends or there is a test, I also tend to have anger issues where I just start lashing out at people during the day. I'm sorry for ranting i just feel the need to tell someone to get this off my chest, I know you're never gonna see this anyway.

Hey, Makayla! For all of this anxiety, I'd say it requires even more bravery for you to say all of that. Don't be "sorry". I'm proud of you, alright? And also, I understand what you're going through. Life can get really hectic sometimes, and we can feel as though we're surrounded by a "void" of sorts. Of course, different things work for different people, but I'd suggest trying to prioritize your self-love before everything else. When you feel more confident with yourself and create a strong foundation to tackle life's obstacles, you'll find progress, one step at a time. Also, listening to music has a way of speaking to the soul, ya know? I don't hesitate to lean on a good song if I'm not feeling too great. Anyways, I hope you feel a bit better about all of this, and of course let me know if you need any more help with anything. :)

I’ve had moments where I’ve said these things, the one where I have said a year ago is “whatever” because I knew I was in the wrong but I didn’t want to admit it in an argument I had caused with my boyfriend. The bright side of this is that I’ve grown to be a better person for my own self worth and my relationship with my boyfriend, I admit when I’m wrong regardless of any situation. The one I have never used is “you are not my mom”.

I am immature but I don't use these phrases. - I assume that others want to hurt me (and rearly Im wrong about that) - I hold grudge. - I care too much about what others think of me. I want fit in so much I don't talk out loud my constructive thoughts, while I cannot keep everything inside and I burst out a pile of criticism, ideas, thoughts and good practices when I'm overwhelmed. - When someone gives me feedback I can only hear that I'm not good enough and the world would be a better place w/o me. - I don't make friends because it is too exhausting not share my thoughts with someone I care, and I cannot be around people I need to pretend to be part of a social life that has no flaws and battles. I'm immature in a different, unhealthy way.

I think most people would handle things in a mature manner, just that sometimes, out of frustration or anger, then the negative words just blurt out. So sometimes, I just close one eye and just try to understand that maybe the other person isn't feeling so good about certain issue in their lives. I am trying to practice self-compassion and hope to see things improve, which I think improvement is a sure thing, as long as I put in some amount of effort.

I have trouble with emotional numbness from derealization and complex ptsd although I consider my emotional numbness a blessing in disguise because it helps me calm down my social anxiety and it helps me to stay calm in any situation. On top of all that I have adhd so that’s just GREAT but it’s whatever that’s just how my life is so I mind as well just accept it and live with it and be greatfull for every small or big thing I have.

A good time to use the question "why can't you do it yourself?" is in situations like the one I often find myself in... I have this friend who's great at saying "okay" when being asked to do something... She's also great at the very next second ask someone else to do the exact same thing... In other words, she tends to delegate the tasks SHE'S been given to others who have their own tasks...

How to react or be with someone who is immature? I have a family, who -most if not always- make me do their chores and work and still is cranky and rude no matter what, just screaming at the top of their lungs and asserts their dominant knowledge even on things they don't know and then when it's wrong, never care how it affected me or anyone... I know people too who use whatever, but this person and so many others I know are like this.. if you can make a video on how to be calm or be persistent with these types of people, it would be great ❤️ btw I love your videos 🥰

It's funny, that one of the great breakthroughs and growing in my therapy was learning to say "but I don't feel like it" as this helps me not to overload me with work and chores 👀 (I know, you mentioned that the phrases depend on context but I think this perspective is very important for people who think, taking over responsibility means having to work and do things all the time...which can attack selfcare measures.)

You are still immature because you failed to control your emotions. Racist person is more likely to stay racist if you treat them like they don't deserve their voice. They follow the logic of "Ah, you hate it, then it must be the truth". They see at as if you don't have a proper argument and therefore they must be right. This is true for everyone you disagree with, not just racists. It's not about spitting on them, it's about being civil and trying to change their mind respectfully. Just look at the response you got before my comment. They already won the argument because you gave them all the room. You can read people like a book if you just put yourself in their shoes.

@@davidc4396 standing up for what’s right is something that needs to be done at times when it’s necessary, so I won’t call it immature if a person speaks up against something racist/offensive, even if they seem upset while doing so, however you do have good points. I am guilty of “always and never” and its actually because I am angry. But when I am angry its because someone crossed my boundaries, and its normal to be immature when we are emotional. It’s human nature, and its not about mental health too. Its behaviours that humans share within another to socialize, emotions can be difficult to manage and cope with in many situations. But also, being immature will make you more mature. Experiences don’t just happen, you have to actively seek it. Anyhow, thanks for reading it all😅😊

Once I’m up, dressed & clocked in I meet all drama, chaos and stress with genuine positivity and approach my humble work with the same level of ethics and integrity that I would employ if I was say a neurologist with my patients lives literally in my hands❣️

There are premises which telling that Evil can be mature aswell (bible, James 1:15). Besides immaturity don't negates rightness of arguments. You can be immature and still being right. If you shout at someone or calmly talk that don't change basic mining of that argument. It only change your appreciation level but maturity itself is only pigeonholing and labeling for that what we don't like in others.

Guess I'm immature then. I do say: 'whatever' after I try to reason with someone of whom I do not have authority over and does not want to listen. I consider it a waste of time to argue any further after you have stated the facts and they still choose the wrong course of action. I will also use 'never' in the following related statement: I never say 'whatever' to a person after I was proven wrong. That to me is extremely immature and shows that you are closed minded and stubborn. I think it is very interesting that 'whatever', 'never' and 'always' are words listed as words mature people never say.

If that happens on a phone call, I will put my phone away and leave them talking to themselves. I it is in group chat, I will mute them. If it is in a direct convo, I will just immediately wear a headphone right then and there.

Personally saying "Whatever" in a conversation is either my way of admitting I'm wrong because I'm stubborn and wont admit it right away (I will eventually be okay admitting it once I'm over the fact that I was wrong or over the heat of the argument) or my way of getting into saying "it doesn't matter" cause I don't believe them anyways and I know neither of us are gonna stop.
