One thing I've learned while earning my KZbin degree in criminal psychology is that switching tense can be indicator of deception. The way it was explained to me was that people will usually tell a story about something that happened in the past, in the past tense because they are literally recalling something that happened before. However, if the tense changes from past to present, that's an indication that part is fabricated because when people are fabricating a story, it is happening in the present so they start talking in the present tense

But you cannot always spot their actions. Thats why this video is all about. If you can spot their actions either directly or from a video footage, then this video is irrelevant in that case. You can't even see your back can you.
@lauramalizia96365 жыл бұрын
I've learned to spot someone's actions mismatching what they say they want. I'm waiting for the Lord to open children and youth to my nonverbal autistic son's father and all his lies. He doesn't want him back and his actions speak so much louder than words ever could! At one point we shared a car and I left him the car the night before he said he was going to pick up our son the following morning. Didn't he go out drinking, in his own words, get so bombed he was flagged and someone called an Uber for him to go home. So now there's no car and no child while I'm waiting for both the following day to go pick up my older son who has a different father, but can't because my car is 13 miles away. Have to now tell him what happened. So now his dad has to drop him off and I have to explain why his brother is not here when he is dropped off. At 15 my older son is just as pissed off as I am and then I am even more so because no 15 year old should have to come to the conclusion another adult can't grow up and prioritize and say, "Wow, Mommy. I know kids my age who do stuff like this and they get in trouble with their parents. What's wrong with him that did this to his own son? I said exactly. He just doesn't want him regardless of the son stories he tells people because his actions speak louder than words and certainly don't match! I'm not perfect but wtf is c&y's problem?! I've been saying this for 5 years! AND a 15 year old can see he wants nothing to do with our son?! Nice..

@tinylilmatt I don't think that's what he's saying. It's that those BEHAVIORS are consistent with someone having anxiety....not that we lie. I couldn't tell a lie if my life depended on it....but I'm pretty sure I do a number of these things....especially when I'm around other people...stiff body posture, feeling uncomfortable, rapid talking or not at all, tripping over my words, getting my story mixed up, avoiding eye contact. My brain doesn't function smoothly when I'm anxious. So those behaviors don't necessarily mean someone is lying, just maybe that they have anxiety.

tinylilmatt even deeper than that...instilled shame etc can be so deep that we CAN fathom having done what we could never actually do. 😳And anxiety can be used against us to make ourselves question our own reality. While these are somewhat applicable to many it falls apart if you are talking with someone who has expertise in the area. I absolutely have trouble keeping things straight telling a complex story backwards without missing some important details. Unexpected questions are not going to throw of a practiced liar. They will just come back to their story line after answering the odd question. If you are a first date it can in fact be foolish to give certain details about your life--who wants a bad date to turn into a stalker?

The easiest way to spot a liar is very very simple. Liars will have an answer for absolutely everything and that is because they are trying to cover their tracks rather than just saying things like "I don't know" or "I'm not sure." A liar will not think when you catch them with their guard down and logically try to have an answer for everything.

Some of the greatest leaders often pause, consider or ponder what to say. I often pause before continuing to speak so as to draw in those who are listening to me. Both me and my wife do this, it helps us to learn to be patient with each other while allowing us both time to recite or recall certain things. We (me and my wife will defend each other) when push comes to shove, judging someone based upon what you think you know compared to what is actually the truth is a very thin line. Careful how you Judge others as you never know who it is you are messing with. If you just blurt out any answer many people will see you as a Fool !!! I'd get worried if a person changed the details of their story from a legal standpoint, not to perish or anything but in a deposition a lawyer would advise you to avoid changing the details of your "story" true or not. This doesn't consider whether or not the person is a liar it actually looks more like the person asking the question is a liar by using diversion and convolution to misdirect and confuse the person. I only bring this up because I've had people do this to me using reverse psychology in order to "cry wolf" me into being the "liar" or the "nut" myself.

@@cwjalexx by "looking to the left side or right side" they mean when they're thinking, not when they're focusing on something that caught their attention. you probably noticed that when people are trying to remember something, they look up or on the side. if someone looks to the right, they're maybe trying to imagine a scenario (lying) because that part of the brain is made for that and if that person is looking to the left, they're trying to remember something (telling the truth) because that side of your brain is for your memories

Oh gosh, no. We have debunked this heavily. There is an element of truth in the idea, of course. But taken as perfection it falls apart and maims the innocent. It does not take into account unique reference points, autism, neck trauma (Even when slight, the ease for me to find familiarity in a certain direction is still there.), placement of other humans and stimuli and other neurodiversities and variables. Much like how looking away while speaking discriminates against us autistic as well as PTS, anxiety suffering etc. But I know what you mean: it can be helpful in limited circumstances, although you would already be having suspicions by that point and so shall not really gain anything from such an observation. Personally I focus on language and continuity (Lack of, in the case of the liar.) but my methods are as flawed as anyone else's and it's fascinating having these discussions to learn.
