I have eaten at McDonald's in Malaysia and USA. For some reason, McD in Malaysia tastes so much better. Here is why! We visit a local McDonald's to do an in depth comparison of McDonald's popular items between both the countries.
Thanks for watching! We are Logesh, Rachel, Zaden and Kyren from the Kumaar Family.

Bro , to answer your question. Yes. Back then, in Malaysia , people usually just left their tray on the table. But now, I think people already gain some awareness of fast food etiquette, so we always clean up the table by ourselves walaupun ada staff yang mengemas. This not applied to Mekdi je, it applies to any fast food restaurant. So yeah, our people changed. And that's good.

I've been clearing my tables at fast-food joints for the longest time! It does help that I was a student worker at the university cafeteria while studying in Winona, MN. My first job there was in the dish room. And not all students cleared their trays. Some still left it on the tables. So it's not just a Malaysian thing. There are some folks around the world who would not think twice about leaving their trays and other trash on tables when dining out.

@@mintoh10 You earn my respect! One user even said that these kind of people are "pretentious" because they only like to clear their tables at fast food restaurants and they never do the same thing at ordinary restaurants! No wonder if most Malaysians are too afraid to dine-in at ordinary restaurants nowadays, unless their stomachs are really hungry!

@@madkhaliqfarhan If it helps, me and my hubs would stack our bowls and plates when we're done eating at regular restaurants. My hubs would pick bones and stuff off the table if there were any, and I usually like to wipe the table off a bit after we're done eating. Make full use of the piece of the serviette (napkin, tissue paper, Kleenex...). It's not about being "pretentious" or something else. It's just common courtesy. Easier for the staff to clean up, and the next customer(s) gets seated faster. It really should be a norm. Oh! My hubs worked part-time in secondary school (back in the 80's) at McDonald's Malaysia. So we've both worked part-time in F&B before.

I believe Rachel was right in saying that street stall's burger vendor in Malaysia such as but not only Ramly's burger is as soggy as the one Logesh was saying abt Big Mac he was eating. Anyway, the Ramly's brand company mainly manufactures n sells burger patty etc under its brand to these stalls vendors.

The MCD nasi lemak is pretty good. I grow up with the best nasi lemak in West Malaysia, especially Kampung Baru, then returned to Sabah for good where the nasi lemak is one Malay dish that I try to avoid (I haven't found a local nasi lemak that 100% suits my taste bud). When McD first introduced nasi lemak to their menu, I was skeptical at first but gave it a try, and I was like, finally, I can have nasi lemak in KK, the sambal is close to the right flavor, not as spicy but having it with the spicy fried chicken is good enough.

hi kumar and family, not sure if you are aware of this but fast food outlets like KFC or McD are what you call tray service outlets. this means that you order and pay at the counter, they give you your food on a tray and you bring it to your table and have your meal. after having your meal, you need to clear the tray by disposing of the contents on the tray into the trash. the only thing that you dont have to do is wipe the table. this is the complete opposite of what you call table service, which you will experience in most mid to high end restaurants, where there are waiters that will present the menu to you, take your orders, and clear your plates after you are done with your meal. i used to study and work in the hospitality industry, so in food outlets like McD, it is somewhat of an etiquette for customers to clear their own trays in fast food outlets like these.

McDonald's is no longer a "luxury" food in Malaysia IMO. It's more of a hot spot for young families with young kids OR young adults/students. You can have a full and satisfying meal with like RM20. Two pieces of fried chicken cost like RM10 and nowadays even kedai mamak can sell fried chicken at that price. And ohh fillet-o-fish burger is awesome!

I think McD's food is pretty consistent all over. The burgers in the US at least try to look like the illustrations in the ads and menu, the ones in Malaysia are somehow squished smaller! But taste-wise... I think a quarter pounder here and there tastes pretty much the same. The game changers are the localized menu items, e.g. McD Malaysia has a "Spicy Deluxe Beef Burger" which comes with a spicy mayo sauce, and options like a fried egg! And the beef patties are bigger than the standard patty. The Spicy Chicken Deluxe sandwich is also my go to favourite here, made with a boneless chicken thigh deep fried and coated with some spicy chilli powder. Great video as usual guys, keep em coming!

To this day they are pretty adamant Msia's kfc and mcd are better. For one American kfc's coleslaw sucks n tastes like water ( their words ) whereas the Msian one is creamy and tastier. The American kfc chicken is a lot greasier and makes them sick in the tummy ( again their words haha ) Msian mcd's fried chicken is way much better than the American one and the Big Mac here makes them want to throw up less after eating.Yea kids dont mince their words lol According to them the best thing about Msian mcd is their prosperity burger before chinese new year and ofc the deal breaker is you can find nasi lemak in Msian mcd 😃

I was about to try the new Spicy Deluxe one here in Malaysia's McDonalds and luckily I got to hear your review first before eating.I totally agree with what Logesh said about the sanitary issues at the McDonalds in Malaysia since we sometimes even had to wipe our cutlery a few times before eating to make sure it is totally clean. What can I conclude from this is that McDonalds has made some improvement on their service and the renovation of their outlet. But honestly,I am freaking surprised that the price of the McDonalds food there are so cheap. In Malaysia, especially by using delivery service like Foodpanda,we have to pay at least RM 4.00 above just for taxes and packaging only. Plus,we don't even get to choose much option from the Happy Meals menu provided here,we only get to choose our beverages and additional things like french fries and stuff but of course, including additional payment while Happy Meal in America even provided apple slices. After all,it's been so long that I got to comment on your video,Rachel and Logesh.Hello once again from Malaysia! I have been saying that for years. I am a Malaysia and one thing I want to say is Malaysia is a food heaven with we have like good Chinese, Malaysian, Singaporen, Thai, Indonesian and lots of foreign foods. So with much food, Malaysian are trained to be picky on food with so much choice so only food with really good taste will sell. So if any foreign fast food, it better be good or be fine-tuned to at least satisfy the picky Malaysians. My family also felt after we emmigrated some 12 years ago to California and felt that American KFC and McDonald are not as good as their conterpart in Malaysia and have stop going there.

The oil used to cook the food makes such a huge difference in the taste of the final product. Corn oil in the US is the worst. Peanut and sunflower are the norm in Asia and Europe. I loved eating at the KFC that was halaal in KL, the chicken was better quality than KFC in the US. The portions were smaller at McDonald's in Thailand than US. In Portugal they use sunflower oil at Burger King and all the fried stuff tastes better, less heavy.

Fast food in Malaysia has become more expensive, in 2022. Fish o fillet has half (the square cheese was cut into half) or is it only at the branch i went ? Not sure. Patty has shrinked too. Fries also less enjoyable, would not be able to finish them unlike during in 1990s. Sad.

In Malaysia, there are people coming over to clean the table after you finished up. But in our family, we clear the table after our meal and its a norm for us, it'll make the worker there have less to clear and it makes us feels good when we do that. I think it's a give and take kinda thing.

Hmm there's a lot of change in Malaysia's McD Kumaar. They now offers some mouth watering food that came on limited time (Prosperity, Korean Burger, Samurai Burger, Blackpink burger (last 2 years it's available fr 😂) and etc.) And there's also a new type of meal, welp idk if it's also available in US or not (it's Ayam Goreng McD and Nasi Lemak McD). Wish you can come back soon to Malaysia Kumaar and have the original old taste back again 😁

McDonalds has been rebrandig and improving their customer experience to capture the Gen Y and Gen Z market. They offer coffee, cakes and provide a comfortable space for customers to work, relax and etc a significantly lower price. The new offering is to compete with other coffeehouses such Starbucks, and etc.

Lot of McD places are upgrading, I don't know it is a global thing or it is a regional thing to come back from pandemic phase. A good place of McD aways has McCafe where we can buy coffee and pastry stuff. To give a choice, I will always choose McD cafe as it is good compare to other coffee house and it is way cheaper from the other fancy place. But yeah, McCafe did not have lot in the menu if we talk about coffee stuff. When I was a kid, I love fillet-o-fish too because the taste of tartar sauce and the fish is smooth. It is way better than thin burger that taste like paper back then. But I did not buy fillet-o-fish for a long time now because the size is too small to satiate my hunger. Here, we always wait for seasonal kind of burger; Prosperity, Samurai, etc.

Probably milder and drier than in M'sia where the preference is always for wetter and more flavour - to simply compete with everything else. I wonder about the condiments available to enhance the overall taste.

I do notice the fast good game in the western (us/canada) is kinda bland from what malaysian are used to. it's not just mcdonalds to be honest. same goes to kfc. first time arrives in NY i can taste that their chicken and their mashed potato (ridiculous portion btw), is kinda bland. Like, lacking salt and umami.. Later i try church/texas chicken, also the same. I feel like hardies/carl's jr and a&w kinda taste right somehow. But they arent that popular both in mys and US/canada. They used to have quarter pounder version of big mac. big bread, big meat, with same veggies and sauce called big n tasty. it was discontinued in malaysia, but i prefer those than bigmac because it has less bread. maybe even big mac isnt as popular as spicy chicken mcdeluxe in malaysia, but since big mac is iconic, they decided canceling big and tasty is the better idea.

Inflation has been crazy in Malaysia and McD meals are no longer considered a luxury since they control their price raise greatly. It is now a place you go to when you want something quick and you don't want to think. It is no longer an occasional special treat like how it was when we were growing up.

Nasi Lemak McD for me is a must try. The sambal... from where i usually bought it... is really what I hope for for a sambal, a bit spicy and soury... not sweet. The nasi itself is okay enough but the sambal is a game changer for me. Its quite expensive for a nasi lemak but I really dont care about it. If it taste good for me I'll eat it. Oh yeah on the chicken side (since I usually buy nasi lemak ayam McD) is dare I say it? Well lets just say I prefer the McD chicken than the KFC chicken for now. I used to like Double cheese burger from McD but lately I'm in love with Double fillet 'o Fish. Some Mcd branch cooked the crap out of it but some just perfect. Yeah since MCO like every once a week I will order McD because it was easy and fast. I gotta slow down lol...

In my opinion, August 31 should be declared as "National Nasi Lemak Day" in the US starting from this year because nasi lemak is Malaysia's national dish and August 31 is Malaysia's national day! Therefore, August 31 is the perfect day to remember Malaysia's existence and nasi lemak is the perfect food for this occasion!

Honestly, back in the 80s, McD's quarter pounder was GREAT. The beef patty was really, really thick -- sort of like burger bakar patty. However, now days the beef patty is so so thin, very dry and everything else been reduced, same with other McD burgers. I no longer go to McD because of this except once a while for their ice cream cone when i feel like it. Plus, many McD restaurants don't sell milk shakes anymore.
