Yeah there is a beauty standard for men having strong jaws and it would take labor to "fix" that or make the jaw appear more strong with makeup. However, this doesn't happen nearly as much in practice for men as for women. Women are expected to be attractive not only in romantic situations but even in work and social settings. It gets really old getting ignored in meetings at work or in group work in school because you're not wearing makeup. Men don't have the same pressure that women have to alter their appearance to simply be "acceptable."
@harsh39482 жыл бұрын
It’s not in practice because men are usually kept in the dark about this stuff by women who keep virtue signalling with “just be yourself” and “it’s not about looks” With the workplace, did you know that each inch increase in height correlated with a higher income? Women are expected to constantly maintain a higher level of attractiveness than men, wearing makeup everywhere for example. Men don't have this expectation, so women are absolutely expected to live up to their "ideal" more. But the standard for what constitutes "a good-looking guy" is harder to reach. As the male beauty ideal has much more emphasis on innate unchangeable features like height, frame and bone structure. Additionally, there's less room for men to go up in looks because you'll be socially ostracised in 99% of places on earth if you wear makeup as a man (probably why there are way more women having "glow ups" than men)

Oh and the wide space between the eyes is another indicator of being born a male. It kills me how "women" are considered more attractive if they do have that space but the reality is that everyday women are being compared to transgenders. Idk about y'all. I love big noses in everyone. I got used to it and came to see it as esthetically pleasing. Because back in arts school every statue we had was of the Greek gods. We would usually have to make the portraits of Venus and Poseidon. Greek women were portrayed with quite a big, straight and a bit downward nose, really thin lips and small and round jawlines. Men had a beard, so you couldn't really se a jawline there. But they were not really that different from one another.
