More creators use mental health for clout and/or financial gain as the genre goes viral. I feel people weren't taught how to deal with stress or life's challenges. Tik Tok says I'm depressed or have a mental illness when really I'm just sad and going through a hard time.

Yep This is what the media doesn't understand, this is all about clout and getting big as fast as passible to start gaining money.

It's hard to get mental health help in Canada. Companies in Canada (Kindryl, ISM) deny mental health issues and disregard doctors notes. Our society is letting people down.

Playing on hard mode. Previous generation was spoiled - easy life. Cheap houses. 6k for a house with an average income of 3k (1950) ooooh tough.

Is this an ad for tiktok now that US is raising concerns on this app, really, this is a bit of a stretch.

Over 1 billion users in 154 countries...I don't think they need an ad on CBC. Canada has as many people as one city. I think this segment is more like info for older people to let them know what's going on in the world.

I've gone to therapists a couple times, seen 3 different ones over the past 5 years, but Eckhart Tolle, Alan Watts & many others through books, podcasts n KZbin have helped me much more. My point is there is help available, independently, and we should not rely on someone else to make us better.

Interesting that all the ttok creators featured on this story are mostly women. Are we seeing women speaking for the first time?

Yeah, we call that a SAFESPACE, where everyone living or thinking the way you do... but that doesn't mean it is still not a problem that you need to solve.

At the end of the day, people need to remember that Tiktok is just another entertainment platform. Twitch is mainly gaming, KZbin is a mixed bag, and TikTok is alternative stuff that don't see on KZbin. There's other platforms as well, like odysee, but that's a decentralized take on KZbin. Creators want views, so they can hopefully make enough money from the videos to quit their job. If they can't do it on 1 platform, they move to the next etc. Creators tend to go over the top on their content, as they hope it will pull in an audience. If folks are struggling with personal matters, they definitely need to contact someone trained to help them work through it instead of playing it up for the views. Many folks have taken their life because of mental health issues.

At least the users are helping each other. The app maker would think of it. This is a full generation offering their complete inner psyche, to possibly be exploited, on a personal level. Or, are they networking to figure out ways to get time off without getting fired.
