Who are we?
We are Adam (North American) and Bernardo (Brazilian) and we are husbands whose paths crossed back in 2016, when we both still lived in Brazil. Since the very beginning, we shared a common passion for travel and nature, which has only grown over the years and led us to this unexpected journey on KZbin, which has allowed us to connect with an amazing community that we’re beyond grateful for. “Go out and make memories” is our motto of living and a constant reminder for us that true happiness doesn’t come from the material wealth we accumulate, but from the memories we create and share with our loved ones throughout our existence. We invite you to join us in our crazy journey in life and hopefully we can inspire you to go out and make some memories on your own. Welcome aboard! #2foreigners

We’ve fallen in love with this new knife that helps us a lot in the kitchen and while we are camping. Make sure to go to huusk.club/2Foreigners to get 70% off on your Huusk knife. This is a special video for us. We find bad that we weren’t able to celebrate our birthdays this year so we decided to plan a special birthday party for us so that we would have a fond memory of our birthdays this year. We just didn’t know it would turn out like this.

(cont.) ...Your 30's do NOT 'su-ck'; It is the transformative Years in Ones' Life, and it shows how much your are NOW ready to settle down, stabilize your union, & to decide and prepare for your future(s) TOGETHER...We NEVER 'figure it out', we ADAPT, and, you "MEN* are now realizing that....in your THIRTIES.... We all watch you, because we are seeing the GROWTH of you Two, individually & collectively; "Husband & Husband" are already over that hump, and your union will be just as strong as theirs, because of it..... ...But, still find time for your individual traits, which also help your Union, which will only strengthen...SO, Thanks for the Love (8:24), the 'slips' (19:04), and, the RUMPS (7:02) ...nice to see SOME things don't change!! Whenever I want to smile, I watch you two...lucky to have found you! Now, Bernardo, your editing is brilliant - I am retired from the Directors Guild where for the last 45 years I've directed Episodic TV and Movies and I cherish your beautiful instincts. Your camera work and music choices guided by your tender heart is extraordinary...and I should know as I've literally worked with hundreds of editors. You guys remind me so much of my husband and myself. I lived in a cabin in the mountains and he just showed up on my doorstep during a storm. Happiest 15 years of my life. Not without its struggles. The first 4 were my getting through cancer and his getting through meth addiction. Once we survived that, we felt there was nothing we couldn’t get through. He had been sober 8 years when we were wintering in Tucson. Someone offered him coke and he slipped. The coke was cut with something. He died that night. I didn’t leave our cabin for 3 years and gained 70lbs. He wouldn’t want me to suffer as I’ve been. Watching you reminds me of what we had and my life is not over. We never missed a day looking into each other’s eyes and saying how much we loved each other. That’s one comfort I’ve had, knowing how much he loved me. You are so lucky to have found each other. Cherish it.

Hi, Arthur. Nice to know you’re from Rio Grande do Sul, a lost place the world knows nothing about, in southern South America. RS differs from São Paulo, Rio, Bahia, or Minas Gerais, which have an identity in some rare spots on the planet if any. But RS exists, and there you are, following the guy’s memories. But as a Brazilian, Bernando is aware of RS and would certainly show his empathy if he were to read your comment, something a bit difficult among hundreds of others. I have commented on about twenty of their videos, but the boys must have read only two of them, not out of disregard but due to the number of subscribers captivated by the quality of their posts and by the charming humbleness of the couple. Go on making comments and engrave RS on the map. I believe that one of the statements at the end of the video that stirred you was Bernardo’s affirmative sentence when he says: “One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in the past couple of years is that I get to decide what my own version of happiness looks like.” He meant that it is up to him to determine what is relevant and on what foundations to elevate his life to satisfy the very needs that beat within him. It's not anyone else's concern. Hard time? Who doesn’t go through that? I don’t want to underestimate yours, for our troubles are always the most unbearable in the world, for they’re ours, and only we can deal with them. A&B’s memories have been a source of inspiration for many who follow them and sort of therapy as examples of ways (courage, willfulness, and boldness) to resort to for warding off suffering. Tell the guys about you the way they’ve shared their “hard time” experiences too. It helps smooth our pains.

Isn’t Porto Alegre in Rio Grande do Sul? I’m trying to teach myself Brazilian Portuguese, and the program I use, Fluenz, is taught in the first two levels by Sonya Gill, who visited the city and talked about the accent there.
@carlosdegodoy1022
@carlosdegodoy1022 Жыл бұрын
That’s right, Eric. Porto Alegre is its state capital. It’s a city of 1,500,000 inhabitants with particular idiosyncrasies if compared to the rest of the country. Perhaps the heavy Hispanic influence has given the state its own characteristics, and so has the massive presence of Italian, German, Polish, and other immigrants. These groups sought out this southernmost area due to the climate similarity to their places of origin. Brazil is known for the ease with which its people establish friendships and closeness with acquaintances. It is certainly not this that would give a sympathy award to the circumspect natives of Rio Grande do Sul. This self-containment is perhaps a heritage of the state's more recent European colonization in its history. Brazilians themselves usually say that the "gaucho" is closed in on himself and arrogant. Maybe; I’d rather say that once the caution and mistrust of the first contact are gone, the "sul-rio-grandense"(*) becomes a solid and faithful friend, not a fickle one. The peasant guasca(**) is usually like that. The metropolitan regions are more cosmopolitan, where one may find a variety of behaviors regardless of the country. (*) Inhabitant of the state of Rio Grande do Sul (**) A redneck; the same as gaucho, but more rude and busy with the work of the countryside and with the animals; by extension, devoid of social refinements. Here is an enthralling dissertation by Ondina Fachel Leal you may download. It depicts a sociological portrait of this biped that populates the pampas from Patagonia to Rio Grande do Sul: lume.ufrgs.br/bitstream/handle/10183/69822/000024763.pdf;jsessionid=7D9CE4DBF4E52BE5281F1F97EE16ADC4?sequence=1 *_Note of a catty-dirty-malicious mind like mine:_* The title of the V chapter of this weighty and puritan college writing of patient research, academic analysis, and worked out with great care and nicety of detail doesn’t mean what it seems to mean… although it means it at first sight, at second sight, and at third sight. After all, it suggests significantly venerated in the macho popular culture of the self-respecting authentic gaucho, whether in the cold pampas or China's Gobi desert. Porto Alegre is not a special spot; it's like thousands of cities in the world, neither better nor worse. If you dream of going there someday, don't expect to find a Dubai-like jammed with stunning architectural buildings or religiously well-behaved citizens. Now and then, it may suck like a kind of Bangladesh. Some stuff about the city: www.iheartbrazil.com/things-to-do-in-porto-alegre-brazil/ So you’re studying Portuguese. Studying a language without much teaching available on the local market and with few people interested in it isn't something easy. When such an offer of Portuguese learning does exist, the tongue is the European Portuguese, in fact, the Portuguese of Portugal. The Portuguese spoken in Brazil is not available because few people in the world realize that, even though the country had been a colony of Portugal, its language has a variegated phonation and its own particularities not found in other countries of Lusitanian heritage. Although they are the same language, the big difference is the phonetics. There are differences in modulation and rhythm of speech. The grammatical structure is the same, but in semantics, some care has to be taken to avoid ridicule or puns. Even in Brazil, because of its extension, these differences are vivid. It has been said in Brazil that the ugliest accents are those of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia and Rio Grande do Sul. Of course, this was said by someone who is neither Paulista, Carioca, Baiano, or Gaúcho. In any country where there are many accents, none of them is right or wrong since it supplies the needs of relationships, coexistence, and all individuals do communicate with one another. A standard would have to be defined to filter the "wrong" ones. This standard would be a mere political-administrative decision without any philological support. It would be something as postulating that the correct Latin today is Romanian. Spanish, Italian, and all others of Latin ancestry would then be impugned. Every language is in permanent change. It is like in geology: where there is a calm sea today, there will be a mountain thousands of years from now. Any being who lived through this span would not perceive the movements of change, and the landscape for it would always have seemed static in its place. Ugly for each of us is what is not a mirror. The tendency of separate - not necessarily isolated - human groups is that they develop their tribal lingo oblivious to the irritation of grammarians, who want to freeze what is dynamic. Communications today, such as radio, television, and the Internet, have immense power to standardize the language but are still far from reaching everyone. When they do, the result may not be the desired one. In Rio Grande do Sul, the informal verbal person of address between family members, people of the same hierarchy, or intimate social relationships had been the second person singular TU. Nowadays, the plural person VÓS is almost used only in epistolary or literary contexts, gospel writing, and novels about royalty. It applies to one or more persons. Spanish, French, and German (DU) preserve this personal pronoun. I find it profoundly beautiful. However, the prolific literary and television publishing production of Rio and São Paulo was like an octopus. It threw its tentacles all over the corners of the language-Europeanized south, hammering out an amalgam of incorrect verbal inflections. Pronoun TU, the vernacular jewel of Lazio's last flower in Brasil, was sentenced to shame and death. What exists today is a messy mixture of TU and VOCÊ, where the gauchos use TU in the third person verbal desinence, that is, the same morpheme for VOCÊ, saying and even writing things like TU É. TU FOI, TU COMPRA, TU COMPROU, TU LÊ, TU LEU, QUE TU COMPRE, QUE TU COMPRASSE, PARA TU FAZER, QUANDO TU VIER when it should be respectively TU ÉS, TU FOSTE, TU COMPRAS, TU COMPRASTE, TU LÊS, TU LESTE, QUE TU COMPRES, QUE TU COMPRASTE, PARA TU FAZERES, QUANDO TU VIERES. It sounds painful to the ear. In this case, it was not the shallow sea that became a mountain in thousands of years but a few minutes-lasting tsunami that shipwrecked a linguistic monument. As I said above, languages are dynamic. Based on this, what is a blunder today may be the norm tomorrow. All this blah-blah-blah was because you said that you are studying the Portuguese spoken in Brazil. Great! Don't give up, no matter whether it is just for pleasure with no practical goal. Read good authors (the classics); the web can contribute a lot.

Okay I haven't watched the whole video since I know my husband's going to watch it too so I'll save it for later, but just getting a few minutes into it, I can totally understand how easy it is to neglect yourself and take time for the fun things that make life special, when you're going through the stress of figuring out where you're going to be, having to do the routines of work, all that stuff that's pressure and doesn't put you in the mood for the things that matter. Maybe channels like this are actually really good and that they go both ways, viewers find inspiration from you, but they also remind you to keep finding yours. I can definitely say that in our mid-30s, we didn't have things totally figured out either. We were dealing with that last big recession around 2010, we had bought a bunch of real estate that we couldn't afford, our business was really really slow, and we could barely afford to go out to eat with friends, some of who were raking in tons of money while we were playing musical condos, renting out our various properties to whoever would rent them and then living in whatever was left over, and that wasn't all in the same city. So every few months, someone would be moving out of one place and we would have to go back there, fix up everything, live there for a little bit, and rent it out again. We didn't want to foreclose on these properties and did whatever it took but it was extraordinarily stressful. In 2013, my husband, who was was born with genetic lung disease, ended up at the hospital with the flu, and it took him 7 months to feel like he was recovered. He was 39 at that point. And the economy still sucked. The following year, we decided to make radical life changes, we adopted a dog, realized we wanted and needed a house with a yard, we were able to sell all of our properties one by one for some decent profit and bought a crazy big house that was totally underpriced and that we could never afford again, and we put all our eggs in that basket. And we we're so happy to be settled in our forties, not having to wonder what was ahead all the time and just having adventures for fun. It's given us this amazing sense of peace instability. And all it really takes is to be settled in a place that makes you feel like home. At the same time, we watch so many of our gay couple friends moving cities and houses all the time, and honestly I don't think being uprooted all the time is good for the psyche. In other countries, people put down roots and get settled in places for a long time, and then they go travel to other places for variety, and I think that's so much healthier. The only tough thing is finding those personal connections that really mean something. People are always over scheduled, working too much, and once you do find really good friendships with people, some of them are bound to move away again, and you have to find new ones. Even if you stay in one place, maintaining really solid personal connections is always a work in progress. No matter how hard we try to control it, life will always be dynamic and never completely static. But it's nice to have a balance of those things we can count on and those things that keep life moving and changing and interesting. Anyway, so sorry to ramble on and on, hopefully seeing our perspective and knowing that it's totally normal not to have things figured out at any particular age and that other people didn't have stuff figured out at 35 is helpful perspective for you guys. The most important thing is that you have each other, that is the most important anchor in your entire life, more than career or finances. Through all ups and downs and stresses and triumphs, my husband and I have always been at each other's side, and every day it's a day we can't wait to wake up to. Keep making each other your biggest priority, make each other laugh, be playful, be sure to call each other cute names, give each other kisses and hugs, and flirt with each other. Everything else will eventually fall into place, and even when it does, there will probably be other challenges ahead in the future. Hugs to you from Tom and David in San Diego.

I think you two boys have an amazing life and have created the most awesome memories. You will treasure them forever no matter what happens. Watching you two boys in your domestic setting reminds me so much of myself and my partner. We have been together 26 years and it’s still going strong. Yes , there will always be times when you think life is getting away from you or you are not allowing time for each other, but you’ll realise just having each other and being there for each other is a blessing in itself. It’s always difficult to see how good you have things when life is going on madly around you. It’s great that you can see that and then step back and take time out. But you boys have built something really special and that will keep you strong no matter what life deals you.

I agreed that as you get older that you eventually forget how to be a kids, how to have fun or simply just take a moment to loved one self. We live in such a fast pace society that is constantly growing, evolving, that at time it so difficult to keep up with all the busy noise of being an adults.

Not only should you allow yourself to relax and have fun often, but you deserve it and it is vital for the nourishment and growth of your souls. Life is tough and honestly, I will be 60 at the end of the month, and I still don't have life figured out. So, I learned awhile back, to just try to enjoy the journey and the answers will come through experiences. I say, always be good and kind to yourself first, then you can do the same with others in the world!

You look like very handsome unicorns in the opening sequence! It’s so nice to see you again. As for having your life sorted in your 30s, I’m 66 and still have no idea. I think that’s true for everyone; but most people mask or deny it by being ’busy’ all the time. Relax and don’t sweat the small stuff. And take time to notice. It’s not always easy, but do it so it’s not forced on you as it was on me (in my mid-40s).

Happy birthdays, guys. It take time to find out what's important to you in your lives, but you've got each other and that's better than any big house, 2.5 kids, pets, whatever. What a scare when Adam slipped and fell, but scariest for me was that cliff you were sitting on the edge of when you were eating your cake. I was shaking the whole time. I don't do heights well and I wasn't even there! ;-)
