about a week ago I was feeling like my skill isn't improving significantly like before anymore despite training on kovakks every day. after that I played in an extremely intense overtime comp game under pressure and pushing my limits. in multiple occasions where I am needed to clutch the round in it and stayed calm not raging even after losing winnable rounds. after that day, I feel like my aim, confidence, and game sense really had a significant boost, I also have been able to enter a flow state way more often than before now. sounds really stupid but at that moment I felt like I was pushing my mind and skill onto a new level of strength. this guy is really spitting facts. vouch+1 dont lose to pressure, stay clam.

Honestly, i wish i found a video like this years ago. Even though my friends tell me I am good at shooters, I always feel like I'm bad and not improving, even when I do all the aim training, learning the mechanics, and improving game sense. Now I realize I just have a terrible mindset, which makes sense why i don't have as much fun as I should. Thank you

OMG THANK YOU FOR SHARING THE PING PONG STORY, so many people see better players and just take that as them being bad with no way to improve its so annoying to remind new players that they just haven't put in the same time commitment yet 24/7 amazing video, to add my own comments about my experience with this mentality (as it applies to rhythm games more so than fps) everything in this video is absolutely 100000% accurate and i can vouch with my own personal experience, ill also add that it generally just makes the game more fun, it changes it from this race with everyone around into this journey of personal growth, its honestly insane how much mentality can affect stuff like that... anywho rant over good video as always west, only bangers recently

also something relevant to the topic of the video; even if you're not excited when you lose it's okay. Being actively excited about anything for long periods of time is unsustainable and exhausting, as long as you aren't _very_ upset when you make a mistake and learn from it, thats all you really need to get better

I'm not a Valorant player, but I play Counter-Strike 1.6, Counter-Strike Source and Global Offensive sometimes, and even other less competitive yet difficult to learn nonetheless games like Splitgate and Halo ranging from Halo 1 to 3. I've played dozens of good players throughout my hours registered in all of these games, and while I can agree that playing better players serves you as lessons to get better, I can't help but also think that when playing against a lot of these people that were 100 times better than me, I saw myself literally looking at my screen and thinking like "this is literally unhuman, this person I'm playing against right now must have some raw talent that came with them at birth or some biological factor that I don't" because literally no matter what I would do or think of doing, even on my mind, I would get countered and outperformed resulting on me dying. I didn't rage at that either, and don't rage at all, but I'm not sure either, having a mindset is great but not everyone in the world is as good as a lot of these pro's that just make it look like playing the game and owning everyone is easy, and to them, tbh it probably is, because they're not overworking their brain or focus to do that, it's just their natural. I know it probably isn't anything else but the large amount of hours they spent playing which led to them becoming very experienced and trained players, but I also can't see myself grinding hard and stressing myself just for the sake of being better at a game that I already enjoy.

Well to be bluntly honest, there is one way to always hit flow state. Maybe not orthodox but it’s out there. 1 Prescription away from human aimbot for 10-12 hours nonstop. It’s cringe yea but i’m just mentioning that it exists in the world and many pros are on it.

Just explained me. Except I avoid playing with better players 1 on 1 entirely in case I lose. I usually will just block anyone who beats me in 1v1. I regress severely every 3-4 weeks & idk why. If my aim improves it’ll be godly for 3-4 weeks then it’ll regress back to being beyond garbage for up to 2 months before I see improvement again, then the same thing happens. I’m pretty much torturing myself & it’s deserved tbh

My biggest obstacle: Having fun while losing to a better player. Playing through waves and waves of cheaters throughout the years it's always in the back of my mind someone may be cheating. I think it's far less these days than cs 1.6 days but still always in the back of my mind at high mmr on any fps game especially. I would 100% have fun playing against a player I knew 100% wasn't cheating but that isn't possible to know for sure.
@WestProter
@WestProter Жыл бұрын
Always assume not cheating unless 100% teleporting, invincible, flying, etc. If they aren’t blatant enough to be 100% sure, play for learning to play better, and assume they aren’t cheating. Even if they are you’ll still learn to play against those with better mechanics or predictions.

Try to teach yourself not to get stressed. Practice staying calm. That is what you are learning/growing on. Also I know a guy who finds he can release strain in his muscles from stress by tensing a different muscle like his leg. Idk if that works though.

I’d try other playlists as well. Hnas work ok fast flicks, others work on precise control needed for games. Makes sure you follow hnA instructions when you do play, and don’t treat shaking like it’s not an error, it’s still an error, you’re just pushing speed enough that it will happen.

tbh this is something which i try to keep up throughout my game and sometimes even in my life. but when my teammates and some of my friends say i'm trash or make fun of me if i did a dumb play or if i whiffed, my morale goes down pretty bad and i become tilted easily when they say this type of things and as a result i perform really badly. my question is how do you counter this? like the one where you mentioned the ping pong game and all where your entire floor roasted you, how did you respond in that situation? If the cm is higher than 30, experiment with 5cm lower (min 30cm), if you don't like it, don't stay, most who switch like it. Regardless of how good or bad the sens is, you need to practice a lot. Focus less on these factors and more on highly focused hours of practice.

@@WestProter no, it's great. I think learning about aspects that have large to minute effects to your skill that isn't specifically "just go aim train" or something. Even as a casual player, getting better at a game is more fun and hence is learning how to get gud. I do have a question about a certain situation. I've noticed a trend where I play as good as I realistically can and feel like breaking a skill cap for about a week then suddenly my aim and game sense goes down dramatically. I've never change anything in the middle of these "good weeks" and I'm sort of confused why this happens? Usually the first day of throwing is like ok sure bad day it's fine but it continues and takes ages to get even near to the level I was playing at. Any explanation or solution? Thanks!
