Been a cop in NY for 40 years, I would trust most wiseguys I met or dealt with on the street before any politician. They weren't perfect, a few had big egos, and tempers, but they had more character and compassion for regular folks in the neighborhood than any politician. When I was a boy and my ol man left, the local crew who owned most of the stores made sure my family never went without food. I never had any money in my pocket and when my friends and I went into the stores for chips and a soda, I waited outside, the old man who ran the numbers always came outside and told me go grab an RC Cola and a bag of chips.

Mr. Franzese, I’d like to ask a personal question about someone not IN the mafia, but “associated” with them? It’s of a suicide many decades ago of a close family member. I have no reason to disbelieve my cousin (his best friend, now deceased as well) who told me after the suicide what was told directly to him. The suicide victim told him in confidence he had no way to repay the mafia by the time agreed upon & therefore believed not he, but his children to be in danger . He told him his only option to save his children was by suicide. Shortly thereafter he took his own life. (I & two others can attest to his belief his children were to be killed, but he would never divulge to us by whom, so I can’t verify the mafia to be truly related). You have stated “In the USA, family members of the mafia are never targeted”-Is this also true of someone NOT in the mafia who owed them money? Could THEIR children have been targeted as an incentive to find the money somehow? If no, I’ll let it drop. If my cousin’s story has a possibly of being true, is there a way to find out? His reasoning to commit suicide disturbs me greatly, still. >

I'm having a hard time I needed to hear this.... Me and my old best mate climbed a mountain in Barcelona on lsd watched the city it was all going amazing. Then we went down into the city before it got dark and he freaked out. He ran into the subway randomly I followed him and hopped the gates in front of security and went one stop, got off he left me acting "normal" saying he needed to go back home. I assumed he needed to go let it wear off he was getting a taxi home (he lived there at the time). He had a bad trip I didn't know what was happening as I was also tripping. I walked 2 hours back to my hotel. It ruined our friendship because he started running around the streets with no clothes on apparently I had to come to pick him up in a taxi some Spanish couple let him use their phone when he was in the streets with no t-shirts or shoes and socks. He now links me to that trauma and gets anxious around me because I remind him of that. It can be a prolific moment in someone's life because of how the drug alters your perception of every event while you're on it. Is what it is, Miss ye Séan bro...
