Everyone wanted to buy Michael Franzese's gas because it was cheaper. It wasn't stolen gas, but gas that he never paid taxes on, because NY allowed you to pay the tax on the honor system(By the time they figured out taxes were owed, that company was out of business and Michael was nowhere on the paperwork. He was wholesaling all over the Northeast. When he retailed it, he collected the tax and kept it. Brilliant. He made tens of millions of dollars a month. He made so much money, but the Feds were all over him and locked him in the hole for other things. They were going to make an example of him, but he had never done anything too bad and they couldn't get him on the gas tax scam, but they knew about it.

I worked at my great uncle's gas station in Highland, NY in the summer as a kid. I remember meeting a Sicilian girl and her father delivered gas for Mobile. She was a sweetheart but had to break it off because her ex bf and she made up. I didn't realize why her father came by with his wife and daughter to smooth things out. My Uncle told me his gas was delivered in the middle of the night at a much cheaper price. He loaned money but was low profile. He got his gas from Michael and that crew.

@Brandon_0932 ай бұрын
Only reason he got caught was because his partner snitched. The FBI knew what he was doing, but had no idea how he was doing it. His partner getting arrested was shady, there was no extradition in Panama at the time and his partner was wanted for his own personal tax issues, so he fled there. So the feds ended up sneaking down there and kid napping him and brought him back to the us. Don’t think that’s 100% legal but the government is gonna government.

When a guy like that gets to the top without any violence, he's looked at like something very special. There were other families interested in him. Everyone liked him and that can be a problem for a mafioso. Inspiring jealousy. Hold on... And Michael kept his cool and did that very well, but he's an example of the racketeer getting in good with the mafia against all odds. Michael had some rough moments, as he will tell you. Definitely the GOAT. I get the feeling he could have done something like his wine or whatever he's into now then. He would have been good at anything. Mike and the Colombos weren't into the drugs. They had a very strict policy. Some guys did the kiddie dope (Cocaine, when it first came around the cops didn't take it very seriously), they called it "kiddie dope". They Colombos were especially not into the drug trade. More than any other family. It was too dangerous to be a guy dealing in that crew. I knew some guys partying with it, but not doing what the Gambinos, Bonnanos, in NY, Vito Rizzuto in Canada and the Trafficantes in Florida. That was a whole thing for a long time. I get the feeling they made the laws about no drugs in the Italian Mafia just to stop the competition. They didn't want the Colombos dealing and competing with them. So they all told them nobody is doing it and it is against the commission. That was how they made a monopoly.

MF has a channel on KZbin with hundreds of videos. And it just so happens that in every single video he says his name. Luciano and Lansky weren't all that rich. Capone absolutely was, and Carlo Gambino, but even Frank Lucas made more than any of the other Italians outside of them. Lansky definitely was involved with making a lot of money, but it wasn't all going to him and he had less than $60K when he died. You're also right, though, that even with Michael being a helluva earner, he's not on that level, either. He was making a bit over a million a month in gas and his other ventures, but he was a Capo having to kick up and he wasn't running all that long.
@remokelm18383 ай бұрын
Franzese did NOT steal the gas. He got the gas from the same sources every other gas station owner gets it from. But he just kept the taxes. I mean there is a certain amount of tax on every galone of gas which the customers pay of course and as a gas station owner you kinda have to forward this tax to the government but Franzese just didn't and kept it instead. He could do it for about a year before the government came down on this particular gas station and if they did he filed bankruptcy with this gas station and opens a new one a week later. So imagine that ... people are filling their cars with gas at your gas station and you just keep the taxes that are attached to every galon of gas. Now you're doing it with literally hundreds of gas stations for about a year until the government wants the taxes. You close the station then and just open a new one over and over again. So you don't have to steal the gas because you're making millions with the kept taxes. Therefore you can offer cheaper prices of course which is why everyone buys his gas from one of your gas stations. This is how it worked.

The greatest mobster of all time was a man named Tommaso Gagliano. He was the ultimate and greatest mafia boss of all time. When he died in 1951 he wasn't even on the radar with the FBI. Gagliano kept an extremely low profile and had alot of buffers. Thats one of the hardest things for criminals, especially gangsters, bank robbers and heisters, serial killers. They crave some form of attention, notoriety, reputation, power or something close and end up getting too much of a rep and end up on the wrong radars and get snapped. Tommasa and a few others I know of make me wonder how many proper criminals have never been caught and some probably we will never know of. I know this old guy, never been arrested or even pulled over, grew and sold weed under the radar for over 40 years, I met him when he was 80, his advice was: Never get bigger than you can handle alone, Don't shit in your own backyard, Always trust your gut and never care for the money, once you start doing things solely for the money you are fucked and its a matter of time before your dead or locked away.

The gasoline wasn't stolen. Long story short, he bought the gasoline legally but didn't pay the state tax. He was pocketing the tax per gallon. He would open a new corporation and use it to buy the gas, then after a short period of time he would stop using that corporation and start using another to purchase the gasoline. He used so many shell companies the authorities just couldn't keep up. He said he knew eventually they would catch him.

This guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about and I’m surprised Jonny isn’t catching it. Dom was on your show before and told you that he was the one arrested for killing Randy right before he was about to kill Mike the nose.

Why you make all your videos you gotta get paid to watch now? Already paying 22 a month for youtube premium. Loved your show too was putting people onto it

@@franksindoneii5410 now by "instantly" do you mean the 10 minutes it took for you to go ask your mommy to read my comment to you, then have her write such a succinct reply?

@@franksindoneii5410 and you don't need to tell her to put a clown face at the end of her sentence. Lol i know im being addressed by a clown! Lol! No legit mobster has ever made such a ridiculous claim that the son of a mobster who rates incalculably higher in every way. Is "the greatest mobster of all time". Thats such an unbelievably asinine statement i didnt even bother checking out the only person who's ever made such a stupid claim.

Are you sure you’re not confusing mobsters with gangsters, or tough guys? When you’re talking about an organization whose ultimate goal is MONEY, 8 million a week is not exactly something to sneeze at. many sources including FBI files have those numbers documented, and to think he accomplished all that in the time that he did without being a gangster or tough guy.
