A diamond will reflect gray and white sparkle and only reflect rainbow (on to) other surfaces. If you are looking at what you think is a diamond and it is sparkling rainbow in the diamond than you are looking at a fake CZ and not a diamond.
@annamae859 Жыл бұрын
Hmm, neither diamonds nor moissanite should give off a rainbow sparkle without reflecting off glass or a highly polished surface. In their own right both stones 'sparkle' is white and grey tones, the moissanite will have a little more sparkle. If your moissanite is giving you rainbow vibes I fear it is probably an inexpensive Cubic Zirconia. 🤷

The only natural Earth mined stones I prefer over lab are rubies, sapphires, and emeralds in their typical colors as there is a noticeable color difference in the Earth vs lab specimens.
@usfanlovesminho5085 Жыл бұрын
I like rubies but the problem with a natural ruby over that last decade or two is the better quality ones are just not around unless you go to a crazy high end store. The rubies I see in local and chain jewelry stores have such a large amount of flaws, or the color is that dense cloudy red or it has so much glass infused that I think they are ugly. For that reason I would go with a lab ruby because they look like the gorgeous rubies I had no trouble finding in the 80's and 90's.
@monicabroussard840 Жыл бұрын
Yes and diamonds are a terrible investment but rubies and emeralds are truly rare my boyfriend is buying me a 2 carat moisonite for Christmas. I cannot wait. I already ordered the band to go with it. My own opinion but diamonds are pretty much worthless I mean they are portrayed as a rare stone but found so often and companies just control the flow of them into the market to get an artificially high price they also had very little resale value because no shop will pay full price for the diamond but rather want the base metal but on the other hand Moissanite is the same in regards to resale but you lose a lot less money in the end also Moissanite is really rare in nature on the fact of the size of the stone being too small to use for jewelry but very rarely Is it found on earth away from meteor impacts so we have to make it in a lab and another point I have is that Moissanite is just far better than diamond in every aspect other than hardness I mean if you wanna add another statistic it hold up against heat better than diamonds too so I’m team Moissanite all the way

Natural Diamonds (carbon) are plentiful on earth. They are not rare. Still LAB grown diamonds are costly and expensive. Where as, natural Moissanite (silicon carbide) is much much rarer than diamond. Still lab grown Moissanites are cheaper. Why is this? 🤔 Plus, Moissanite's characteristics are also way better than a diamond. So why it's cheap in market??
@junzheng254 Жыл бұрын
Because Moissanite is more rare than Diamond, it can not supply the wedding ring market. Diamond is not rare gem, just Russian diamond mine alone can supply 3000 yrs of diamond per current market consumption speed.

Hey Fire & Brilliance, I need some help. I've been viewing videos about diamond vs moissanite and have a question. I understand moissanites have superior fire and brilliance, however, a video I saw talked about how although it may shine and sparkle more, it's not as CLEAR or SHARP as diamond sparkle. This is because moissanites are double refractive and diamonds are single refractive. So I'm curious, is there any way to make a moissanites sparkle clearer like that of a diamond? Or is that not an option? I'm confused on which to choose based off of that. Moissanite being superior in fire and brilliance but diamond being superior in the actual quality of the sparkle. I'm new to this so correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just trying to learn and figure this out.

Less than 1% of natural diamonds are conflict diamonds (and you can get certificates), so it's not much of a concern. Environmental impact is legitimate though. Natural diamonds have limited supply, therefore they can appreciate in price. There's also value in the millions of years needed to create them. But if you value how sparkly something is, or you can't afford natural diamonds, get moissanite.

There are millions of carats of natural diamonds that are held back from the market to give the appearance of scarcity and to keep the prices high. The only diamonds that appreciate in value are large and exceptional stones that are far beyond the reach of the average person. With any normal diamond, when you try to sell it, you would be lucky to get 30% of the amount that you paid.

I find the white color of a diamond more appealing compared to moissanite which comes of as a bit to flashy for me. I'd say as long as you stay in the lower carat range, it's personal taste, and when in higher carat i'd say moissanite because of the cost.

I think it nonsense to compare a moissanite (which is also lab grown) to a lab diamond. This is a matter of preference in which stone you want. People that go with a lab diamonds either like diamonds but don't want to go natural for whatever the reason whether it's to save money or it being an environmental issue. Moissanite is a completely different stone that is very very inexpensive (much less than a lab diamond) so people choose them for either price or they just want a moissanite because they like that rainbow sparkle I personally like diamonds and would by a natural or lab diamond and would not even consider mossanite. Not that I think mossanite isn't pretty, it's just that I like diamonds better. It is personal preference and nothing more.

Moissanites are sold now at $5-$10 for a 6.5mm (cart size) . I mean perfect D color, perfectly proportioned and machined cut. Lab Grown Diamonds are sold now for $300-650 for a 6.5mm (carat size) depending on where and who you buy them from, but they are rapidly on a decline in prices too. you might get something for a LAB GROWN Diamondvas re-sale. but for Moissanite, you will get ZERO! THIS VIDEO IS INFOMRCIAL.

Moissanite is dirt cheap. Lab diamonds due to supply and demand are dropping in price but so are moissanites so I doubt a lab diamond will ever get as cheap as the cost of a moissanite. I'ts all about personal preference anyway so it really doesn't matter at the end of the day.

Team Moissanite all the way. I will never go back to natural diamonds. Like explained in your video, diamonds have a bloody past - hence the Blood Diamonds. This is especially true with the De Beers controlling the diamond industry for almost a century and their stealthy marketing of limiting diamond releases (and yes, real diamonds are not rare - they are the most common gems around - you are only paying top dollar for the mining operations and the cut from the jeweler) and the, “A diamond is forever,” ploy. The only natural diamonds I would ever consider is the ones mined out of Canada since you can practically trace your diamond from there-and if it weren’t for those two geologists who hunted for that mine, the De Beers (who were hunting for the same mine), would still control the monopoly! Also, I don’t care for the mining that destroys the environment. I like the way the Gen Z generation thinks, and heard this quote somewhere, “I got 99 problems, but a diamond ain’t one of them!” Lol! BTW, Charles & Colvard certified moissanites have been inching up in pricing and is clearly no longer as cheap as they used be (plus their precious metals are recycled!)…so thinking that a natural diamonds retains value - is only in the eye of the beholder! Go Moissanite!

I prefer the one that takes between 1 billion to 3.5 billion years old. And to me a lab grown is just not my idea of what a true diamond is. And now that they are able to be distinguished by professionals I would not touch a lab grown. And Moissanite, i understand the fire but once again it is not a real diamond. Now I inderstand what would be the choice today maybe the lab is okay. But a professional will tell you that if you are looking for an investment grade diamond to stick with mined. And if you are worried about the impact ? Guys there are a LOT of diamonds ( earth mined) out there. Used jewelry for one. And there are diamonds lined in drawers that have yet to be even released to the public yet. Many people will say a lab grown is the same as an earth mined. But that just is not true. Speak to a GIA grad and they will tell you the difference. And the price is another dead giveaway. If they were truly identical then the price would not be that far off from the earth mined As for Moissanite, yes if you just like fire and could care less whether you had a diamond or a moissanite. Then that is a cool option. We are seeing diamond mines around the world shut down. The Argyle mine in Australia was one of the finest especially if you like fancy color diamonds. And it was most certainly the place that a couple of extremely rare red diamonds. I purchased a earth mined blue diamond probably about 16 years ago. I love it. And yes it is a true blue with GIA report.. I think mow they heat them or irradiate them to get the blues and greens out there. One last thing that so many fail to warn people about are clarity enhanced which around something like ammonia is an absolute no no.
@ed8329 Жыл бұрын
Lots of things are billions of years old. For example, the water in your piss is billions of years old. Also, the only way to tell the difference between a lab and natural diamond is the laser etching on the surface. Otherwise, they are 100% identical because they are the same thing. Same exact chemical structure.

Is the price similar? what about say moisonite vs a white sapphire, I guess moisonite wins or white saphire vs cubic zirconia, Are there any other diamond like gems just made out of 1 or two elements , aside from say quartz?

I can't tell a lie to myself that I like natural Diamond cause natural diamond are forged by time it can be million of years and that makes them valuable. It means as long as you have meaning in your life, you deserve a natural diamond. Nothing instanly in this life, all the things in life there is an effort. Succsess doesn't happen overnight. NATURAL DIAMOND are forever

Sounds like a commercial for diamonds ha. The advertising and marketing are very good. Small part of me is _still_ considering natural, though I'm confident I'll go lab diamond or moissanite. Thankfully we are living in the future where natural is not our only option.

@@KawaiiKandi right, every part of human is natural..ok..for me it's all about taste. I like natural diamond more than lab grown diamond or moissanite

@@m.rizadjoeli357 Of course I prefer natural in general and try to be more environmentally conscious. I want a 1.75-2ct. Just for the gem alone is 8k - 15k so that’s too much for me. Plus with all the environmental damage and possible slavery or underpayment of workers in the mining industry, just makes natural in this situation not the best choice for me. Hope you have a nice day.

I like that. But when they were making my ring from James Allen they told my Husband that they grew a special diamond for each individual.. When u think of it that way, it can be just as romantic. Still true about natural diamonds though, there is something romantic about them. :)

y'all trying to put this out here is beyond the pale. every jeweler talking about lab diamonds are setting up the long con. this is an attempt to increase PROFITS, not provide your clients with QUALITY. this will backfire on jewelers, when the broad public learns the cost, price value preposition involved. shameful really

Couldn’t agree more! I have first hand experience with a lab diamond and trying to get rid of it after it was purchased and never even seen, let alone worn. Reputable jewelers do not work with them. The 5 I called have no market for them. Furthermore, they’re worthless. You can’t even get 20 percent of your purchase price. Paid over 10k, best offer was 2k. I know diamonds don’t resell at 100 percent but it’s usually about 60. Basically lab grown diamonds are either garbage or a toy. Take your pick.

This isn't a con at all! If people want an investment piece for their wife to sell after they break up then don't buy any diamond or moissanite jewlery at all! But as far as value for what it is supposed to be it's fantastic! It's a beautiful symbol of your love and devotion. At these price points what's wrong w that? If you want an investment piece be clear and invest... but don't treat your wedding band as an investment for the day u break up, try an actual investment. I think it's great that couples on a budget are not priced out of great quality jewlery anymore.
