Nicely done ! Bought a KTM 390 ADV three weeks ago for the very same reasons. Before test riding one, I would have never looked at anything smaller than 500 or 600 cc but this bike is a little gem, it puts the biggest grin on my face every time. See you out there !

Hey Jeremy, thanks for taking the time to comment .. I know exactly what you're saying. I did my online research but until I actually went for a test ride I was not so sure due to the CC Rating. Less than 5 minutes into my test ride I was sold on it. Went straight back to the dealer and ordered mine, which was luckily sitting in a box in the workshop. Happy riding!

@AdventuringNZ2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting Tom. At 7500 miles you would really be getting to know yours. I've only just clocked up 900km (roughly 600miles) and loving it. I'm adding bar raisers, stronger bash plate and a headlight protector, but that will be about it for now. Happy riding!

I moved to the 390 from a 1190 Adventure R, I went through the reasons why in one of my recent videos, but weight was one reason & no regrets so far 👍🏻

I've recently moved to the KTM890 Adventure as my wife has taken over my 390. That is my story and I'm sticking to it lol. We needed a 2UP bike in the family and I really have enjoyed the KTM, so Bye Bye GS and hello 890 😀 also no regrets so far.

Ya they are great bikes. The tilted pegs have never bothered me either. I really can't feel the pegs through my boots anyway. The angle seems to give you a better position seating down. I have had my bike for a year now, done just under 10 000km its been fantastic. Ridden all over the lower south island. The seat is comfortable, only starts getting a little sore after 5-6 hours on the bike. Wouldn't think there would be too many seats that would be better after that time.

Hey Tuatara, Good job on the 10 000 - I'm just clocking up my firsat 1 000 kms LOL! We're just itching to head way down south and have a look around on 2 wheels. We will probably trailer our CT125s down and camp/explore/camp/explore ... repeat :-D

Hello from Canada! Just wondering how you find that bike in the loose rock/gravel? I have a CRF250L and it's pretty squirrely in that stuff. Really like the KTM 390 Adventure and they're on sale at my local shop. Thinking of getting one. By the way, beautiful countryside! I hope to get there someday soon.
@AdventuringNZ Жыл бұрын
@CatDad1971 Thanks for commenting and yes we are lucky to live where we do. Loose rock and gravel doesn't seem to be a problem. We've gone 2UP up some quite difficult tracks and all good. The great thing about this bike is you can go highway speeds all day long and then ride up some rough stuff as well. We've been to BC Canada and loved - can't wait to go back! Happy riding 😀

Thanx for the review. I am a 50 years old total beginner and thinking to buy my first bike (I am 1,83 cm high with 105 kg). The cb500x is on the top of my list but also the ktm 390 adventure and the CFmoto MT650.... Difficult to choose, want to have a practical bike for commuting but also go on some touring in my country with enough power and not 'difficult' for a beginner as me. Ride safe and regards from Serbia 🇷🇸✌️

Hi Alen, I'm a little shorter at 176-ish and about the same weight and 52 (so far) .. my 6 foot tall son still found it a great size for his frame. My KTM390 is perfect for what I wanted to do with it. Off-road orientated adventuring for me to go solo. It does everything I have asked of it so far. Light and forgiving ... have I mentioned fun! I'd say go for it and don't look back.

@@AdventuringNZ Thanx a lot bro, did you do duo with your KTM? In my country the roads are very bad conditions and i want a reliable bike for some small touring and commuting with enough power as the KTM have.
@AdventuringNZ2 жыл бұрын
@svaralen Not sure what you mean by "Duo" but I have set my KTM390 up to be off-road orientated for solo riding and I can confirm it does a really good job of both shingle and tar roads. I've taking it off-road for a quick play but nothing too serious yet. I fully expect it to be just fine off-road based on how it performs. Enough power for me and light enough to manouver around as well as light enough to pick it up when she falls over. I would not hesitate to tour back country roads or commute on this bike.

@svaralen I understand now Duh LOL! Have a look at Big Rock Moto's latest review of the KTM390 @BigRockMoto kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHPRmpWLgaeArZo as he shows what the KTM390 looks like with a pillion. We are going to give it a go, just haven't yet. We have a GS 800 Adventure for our 2UP adventuring :-D

Cheers! I did 2 things: I relocate the Mic to be ponting vertically in my helmet (probably a little sheltered) and also I raised the windsheild to the top position. Was really pleased with the set up on this trip except you can't hear the motor so much.
