Yeah, why is this another My Hero Academia video? It's not like the high view-counts of every MHA video on this channel and many on other channels indicates that there's some kind of _demand_ for this sort of content; I'm sick of it, therefore everyone must be! So I'm gonna complain about it in the comment section before the video's been out long enough for anyone to have finished it!

It’s been 2 years. How do you feel about MHA now?
@timothymclean4 жыл бұрын
@@crystaloccult Still enjoying it. The Hassaikai arc had plenty of tension and drama while developing the antagonists and having a literally meaningful story; the Normal Life at School arc was a welcome break in the action, developed the supporting characters, and introduced a fairly unique* villain that I'm sad didn't get more time to shine (in either anime or manga). Oh, and it has the best fight in the series-Bakugo vs. Desire to Assault Children. I don't remember if season 3 was within the last two years, but it was good too. *I mean, Gentle Criminal and La Brava are basically Leet and Über, but more competent and heroic...but you probably have no idea what I'm talking about, so yeah, KZbin supervillain is unique. Wait, did you assume I was serious about not liking MHA stuff?

How is Attack on Titan as big a failure as Sword Art Online? The only failure is it's anime being so far behind. I agree that MHA is the best battle shounen to come out recently and is really good for new anime fans but it's going to eventually hit that mid point crisis where it'll be tested on it's ability to carry a story and if it keeps doing heros Vs villains then I'll be worried about it's longevity.

Yeah, im noticing a repeat in stuff from other videos here, without any real elaboration here, or examples for your arguments. If you're gonna keep talking about this show, bring new things to the table. EDIT- before I sound like a hypocrite, Why are the fights interesting? What about any particular character do you like, or find unique? Why was the show hyped? A lot of shows have characters, world building,and fights, so what did you mean by working in tandem? How so? I think if you're gonna make this out as a recommendation for someone to watch, it's too vague.
@redpandai17 жыл бұрын
recommendations are usually vague because otherwise, it could lead to spoilers. I mean you can just talk about the first 1 or 2 episodes but theres not enough content in that.
@41dn7 жыл бұрын
Red Pandai true, true, I think he could still speak more about what they like about characters and stuff without necessarily giving out important story events. There's a limit on how vague someone should be about their reasoning. If you just say, it's good. Cause it came out in a time when anime was bad, that doesn't really explain much to me. Look at eyepatch wolf's style for what I mean. It doesn't necessarily spoil any story events, but it's still an in depth analysis on what works and what doesn't, even if you avoid the parts he does refer to. I guess I should say, it's true you don't have to be specific, but you probably shouldn't be as vague as this video or beyond.
@miniman6497 жыл бұрын
+Switch Dog Gonna try my best to answer your questions. Why are the fights interesting? What about any particular character do you like, or find unique? Why was the show hyped? Fights? Because they are often not a battle of pure power and strength, but rather a fight of ideology and will. Most of the times, when a major fight plays out, it is about two characters with conflicting ideologies and their emotion behind their opinions and goals. There is some power-display, but that is not the core of the fight and it is amazing, for me at least, to see emotion behind a fight, to actually feel the characters reason for their action beyond 'saving the day' or 'must fight strong opponent'. As for characters, I like them 99 % of them, because 99 % of them are well-fleshed out characters with their own personality and troubles. Even non-main characters gets their own epic moments and struggles to overcome and VERY few are actually left behind and forgotten, which is VERY refreshing. Hell the main character is not even the strongest or best in the series at this point and he has to actually work towards his goals and earn them, instead of being granted some magical god-power with literal no consequences. As for what it is hyped, I can't say, since I do not know each individual persons reason for liking the show. And for working in tandem. The best way I can explain it, is the fact that everything works together in the plot like a huge spider-web of details. Even small details and ideas many would overlook is brought to attention, like how even the hero-focused society where being a hero is a job, is actually a VERY flawed idea that leads to a lot of false heroes. Or that some super-powers are actually better than others and even in a world where everyone is super, there are still unfair advantages due to pure luck from birth.

@@miniman649 "Fights? Because they are often not a battle of pure power and strength, but rather a fight of ideology and will. " Welcome to shounen anime! You must be new here. The genre of shounen, aimed at ages about 8 - 15, is all about mixing drama, action, adventure and "timmy's first thoughts of philosophy". That's why in every shounen people talk all the fucking time rather than just fight - the fighting is just a backdrop to their ideologies conflicting. "As for characters, I like them 99 % of them, because 99 % of them are well-fleshed out characters with their own personality and troubles." ...are they? I can't even really think of more then a handful of heroes or students where we even know why they wanted to be a hero... What do they like any why is it special to them? what don't they like and what are the aspects they don't like about that stuff? What drives them to get up in the morning and what things helped shape that? I honestly can't answer that for pretty much every character apart from a core 5 or 6. "And for working in tandem. The best way I can explain it, is the fact that everything works together in the plot like a huge spider-web of details." i just... don't really see it. Maybe I'm spoiled coming from the One Piece manga, where even wind directions, currents, weather, the layouts of buildings and individual islands cuisines and local flora are detailed. Many character's don't even feel like they properly exist when the story isn't specifically talking about them. We can only really guess that AFO is probably plotting stuff somewhere - unlike One Piece where you can get more of a feel for every other marine, pirate and warlords general locations, goals and interactions with each-other far across the ocean. Battles that we don't even see and have nothing to do with the main cast cause ripples that are felt everywhere, and this just doesn't happen in MHA.

okay i'm just gonna say it. My hero academia is awesome right now. But why is everybody giving this show so much credit and trashing all the other past anime? I would never go that far. Everybody who says my hero is doing a great job and saying how hyped it is. Just remember it's still fresh and new. There was a time when we all thought the other mainstream anime was the shit at it's beginning! But as the shows went on for years and years mistakes were made and issues came around. OF course my hero academia is doing fine at the moment. Because we're at the very beginning of this show. And there will be a time skip like bleach, naruto, and one piece and others. And mostly when an anime does a time skip people start to lower the anime and say stuff like oh man the older stuff was better then this. see what I mean? Just be prepared when my hero gets to around 4-5- years old. Things will change.
@ADHDkid3217 жыл бұрын
As of now the manga has still maintained a very high level of quality. At this rate the anime is going to be absolutely fine for at the very LEAST 2 more years, with an almost 100% chance of it being longer than that. Also don't expect a time skip anytime soon as it won't happen until Horikoshi has kind of wrapped up this story which he has stated (the manga) is about a third of the way through... only then would he do one.

I love MHA to pieces but I struggle to fully agree with most of these points at all, apart from it being the best battle shounen since HxH2011. - I think its fights range from serviceable to decent, with enough weight for things to not feel cheesy and enough imagination for them to have a couple of surprises. I mean, All Might's big moment when fighting All for One, the bit that made the villain go "whose been teaching you these tricks? this isn't like you" or whatever - was literally just a really strong fake-out punch. - I think its main characters are diverse but not always utilized properly and the side are characters... serviceable. There are several characters that fall into the confusing cracks between "i thought this was a main character but they just... dont do very much or show much personality..." and "I thought this was a side character but my god are they getting alot of screen time and personality." - It doesn't really feel to me like the one-episode characters carry much weight through the story. Purple mind control boy could easily be dropped and never mentioned again, nobody ever talks about Stain despite him being awesome and I've already forgotten the names of most of the villains. Even when cool side characters get their times to shine everything just feels the same afterwards. They haven't changed much and the world hasn't either. - It doesn't feel like there are many moving pieces. It feels like there is a fixed lens around Deku, the world and the people in it only really doing things and changing when it is relevant to him in some way. This is fine, its a battle shounen story about Deku - and maybe im being a little unfair, as in my head I'm mainly comparing it to One Piece, which has so many moving pieces in the world that even if the Straw Hats didn't exist the whole vast planet would still be just as lively. Its easy to imagine the story moving without them, helped by the fact that usually wherever they go the story focus is more on the people they meet and how they change their lives rather than their own lives changing. I think My Hero Academia is a damn good show. I've spent an embarrassing amount of money on All Might merchandise and I plan to continue until my house is just one massive, embarrassing All Might shrine. But I don't think its particularly like... amazing. I think it is a battle shounen that has taken the elements of other successful battle shounen - mainly original Naruto (it reminds me ALOT of original Naruto) - and just done them again with a currently popular theme. It's a love letter to all the simple joys of shounen aimed at the 8 - 15yr old crowd without pushing itself in any particular direction. The characters are enjoyable enough with some stand-outs that are hyper interesting, some stereotypes that are fan-favourite's and some oddballs. It has enough weight in decisions to make the action feel tense and substantial without being too harsh or too difficult to write. My Hero Academia is just... enough. Its good enough in a point of time where there haven't been many other options. It doesn't do very much wrong, but it doesn't do anything that amazing either.
@EqualsThreeable7 жыл бұрын
My Hero Academia is my newest favorite anime. It is not overrated, everyone is rating it appropriately, however it is overexposed. Everyone and their mother wants to cash in on the KZbin Craze (Insert Favorite Show/Movie) Analysis Extravaganza. Too much exposure isn't bad for MHA, but it will annoy your fanbase, it really only serves to advertise the show and please the fanboys like myself.

2:13 Well that's not entirely accurate to say nobody cared that people started randomly getting super powers, apparently back when Quirk first started showing up there was a lot of chaos. But now in the MHA world quirks have been around for enough time to make them a mundane fact of life.
@sarafontanini70517 жыл бұрын
perhaps, but still, the focuss of the story and setting as presented to us viewers is not on a chaotic world and more on a world where people having superpowers is the norm, where its not even some big secret kept from the world at large.

Actually world design is not a strength but rather Achilles' heel of My Hero Academia. Nothing is really unique about it as the way the show handles superheroics, which is a carbon copy of anime like Tiger and Bunny or One Punch Man. And aside from these tropes there isn't really much to the world of MHA. It's really visible that author didn't think much about the setting, which is only a background for characters and their interactions. This isn't to say that Kohei Horikoshi's manga and subsequent anime are bad, because I find it pretty enjoyable, however the worlbuilding present in them is kind of lackluster.
@ADHDkid3217 жыл бұрын
Jakub Składowski I've heard this before and I never got it... are we watching the same show? The world building is prettu fantastic. A lot is already done considering it's our world... just in the future. The thing is since superpowers came about... most of our progress as humanity came to a screeching halt, so, realistically, the only REAL changes that would happen are the ones that are a direct result of said super powers... and there's a lot. You get an idea of how the whole hero infrastructure works, how it's an industry and thr way different heroes run their differemt firms, along with a really big scope that comes as you hear about these differemt heroes running firms and you kind of get a glimpse at the vast diveristy of how things work from firm to firm. Idk maybe I'm just rambling.
@jakkubus7 жыл бұрын
+ADHDkid321 Judging from your response, you could've really watched something different than MHA. Because nope, there is nothing even remotely realistic nor consistent about how Quirks affected history and how people approach to them. If a setting can be described as "basically our world but with superpowers", we can be sure that author botched the job as far as worldbuilding go. Appearance of superpowers should actually accelerate scientific and technological progress rather than halt it, given how many Quirks (such as e.g. Mei Hatsume's Zoom) can be used for tinkering. But in MHA they are used exclusively for superheroics/supervillainry, as if there was no other thing they can be applied at. Also powers themselves are often wildly inconsistent (for example nothing about Bakugou's Explosion should allow him to control how recoil affects him) and don't really follow any unified theme nor a system. On top of that I get an impression that the author doesn't really plan more than few chapters ahead, since for example a lot of students from class B (Tetsutetsu, Shiozaki, Honenuki, Monoma or Kendo) should do much better than likes of Hagakure or Mineta during the entrance exam. As for how the superhero industry is portrayed, it was mostly just copied from Tiger and Bunny, so there is nothing praiseworthy about that part of the setting. So to sum up, worldbuilding in MHA is mediocre at best even compared to other shounens.
@ADHDkid3217 жыл бұрын
Jakub Składowski haven't watched tiger and bunny, but it is specifically addressed that had super powers not been introduced the world would have advanced to the point where interstellar travel would be a casual occurence. Society had to grapple with the the chaos that ensued from people spontaneously getting these weird powers... and it STILL is. You can see the cracks that were purposefully written. Scientific advances slowed because for awhile humanities focus was on adjusting to the changes, which is realistic... and now that things are better yes people are using quirks to advance the industries (like how ochako wanted to work for her parents construction company given her quirk). Also horikoshi has planned out the entire story for now... I don't know where you got the impression he hadn't but trust me this shit is planned. Why exactly wouldn't bakugo be able to control how his recoil affects him? It's been stated that all the thought that goes into it is difficult but that he's amazing dor being able to control it so well.
@jakkubus7 жыл бұрын
The fact that it was stated in-universe doesn't make it any less bullshit. Sure, if people suddenly started to exhibit powers, there would be chaos indeed, however the world certainly wouldn't return to the status quo before that like it was the case in MHA. Despite informing audience that people with superpowers work in some industries, none of them seems to be more advanced than IRL. That's my biggest issue with the worldbuilding in this anime/manga. The only impact superpowers had on the world was appearance of superhumans, while people DID NOT adjust to the changes. It's not even remotely realistic scenario at all. What was planned? Plotholes and inconsistencies? It was either barely outlined or Horikoshi is just terrible at planning. Because his ONLY power is excreting and igniting an explosive sweat. No explanation was given why on one instance a big ass explosion doesn't even flinch him, while on another he propels himself with smaller ones.
@ADHDkid3217 жыл бұрын
Jakub Składowski those big ass explosions ALWAYS hurt him, they just don't always show it. Thats why deku is amazed when he realizes how much it hurts when he uses his gauntlet... he keeps doing these big explosions but it seems so easy... despite bakugo CONSTANTLY mentioning that every time he makes a big explosion it hurts. Also what plotholes? I've read over the manga twice it all seems pretty air tight.

@randox1247 жыл бұрын
No because nothing is ever happening in a MHA fight. There's no true loss if any of them are defeated. Only two fights happen in the show where they truly must fight to save themselves. In Super almost every fight counts to the end of our world. The Z fighters fight to save lives. These losers fight to get a good grade.
@tarantinoburrows14067 жыл бұрын
Jared Salad. Um, most of the fights in this season revolve around a tournament. Why would the teachers allow their students to enter something where their lives could be at stake? And they do lose something if they are defeated, they lose the chance to show off to the Pro Heroes that they're hoping would take an interest in them. You know? The whole reason why the tournament is even taking place. "These losers fight to get a good grade" yeah, they do fight to get a good grade. The show is literally called My Hero ACADEMIA where kids go to school to become heroes. If they didn't focus on the ACADEMY then the show's title wouldn't make any sense. And how would you expect a bunch of rookies to save the world when they're still in school and haven't had a lot of real experience? You're reasoning is stupid. Also, the DBS fights are completely bland. All of them are the exact same thing, punch punch punch shout punch punch punch "this isn't even my final form!!" someone transforms into something else and the stronger one wins (this could be inaccurate, I don't watch or care about the show lol). In MHA all the battles are unique and creative and demonstrate how each of the characters uses their quirks in various situations. These fights are far more interesting than watching two guys punching each other repeatedly on end and even if MHA does do that it's still interesting and intense lol (Kirishima vs. Tetsutetsu).
@randox1247 жыл бұрын
Eijiro Kirishima The fights aren't interesting at all. 80% if this Damn series is nothing but training and school life. This is a school anime disguised as a superhero show. Of course I don't expect them to go out on the field and fight, but a lot of these kids are powerful enough to one off these villains, which by the way fucking suck. To call these "fights" is a lie. They're more if tests if anything. I agree about most of the dbs fights being not too different, but at least it's the villains and story that gives the figths purpose

Mr Memes And both are better than Naruto.

Martin Harhovsky bnha had time to see what works and what doesn’t in the shounen genre so i’ll say HxH>naruto>bnha.

Trident that's the problem. I LIKE manimematts videos but when he post a my hero academia video for the hundredth time for no reason I have to wait another week to see if MAYBE he'll make something different.

It's like the My Little Pony of anime, neckbeards won't shut the f*ck about it.

This show is hella cliche tho
@youngdefiant7 жыл бұрын
it really is, yet all the my hero academia fanboys are acting like its doing something so revolutionary.

There's nothing inherently wrong with cliches. And yes the front portion is heavily loaded with them... but it embraces those cliches in all its glory and honestly that's part of the charm it has brought. It starts brraking down those cliches later though and... oh man the manga... jesus man
@a.dennis48356 жыл бұрын
I found this series boring. It's just a retread of older series without doing anything new or better.
@flobster7 жыл бұрын
Ok i really like the show but jesus you on't need to make every video on it like come on same ideas same everything just make videos about something else please..I'm really getting tired of seeing this show everywhere

Ikr every youtuber milks the anime for $$$. If they said something new its okay but every video is the same fking one
@timothymclean7 жыл бұрын
It's almost as if it's a popular show, and lots of KZbinrs like watching videos about popular shows! How _dare_ KZbinrs cynically milk the system by making content that people want to see?
@SpensaVenture7 жыл бұрын
Timothy thats not the problem. I don't care if everybody made video's about BNHA but every video says the same thing, something we have heard a 100 times already. At least tell something new when you make a video about it
@princeofnightmare89087 жыл бұрын
TheDarkEnrocoNeter well my issue is I’m tried of see it so I usually don’t watch it when I see KZbinrs make videos on this show and my problem is he’s made two videos back to back so I haven’t watched his content in two weeks and I actually like his content that’s why I’m annoyed by seeing a video on this show
