I'm a new viewer, just found this video - hearing you talk about it and seeing you get so emotional I just wanted to send you some virtual hugs. This hit close to home as my son wasn't/isn't much of a social talker. He's still often quiet/soft-spoken but he's better than he was. Thank you for pointing out that people do change, just because you have met someone doesn't mean you know them etc. Also, people do behave differently around different people and in different situations and places. Lillie Bench While Jamie hasn't inspired me to do anything different (I just enjoy her content, and can relate to where she is coming from), she is part of an interesting trend among the youtube subculture that is actually quite amazing and unexpected (and there's many of us who are part of this trend). And I think that's why I appreciate her channel so much more than your average vlog & hobby channel. If you watch, many of the long-term creators in recent years who have an open relationship with their communities, have come out and talked about this sort of thing, and I'd wager there's even more that could as well. It's a trend in youtube serving as a sort of panacea or tool in pushing beyond personal roadblocks (and yes, it's a struggle, especially when you get big enough to get 'trolls' regularly), but overall, it has had a positive influence on these people's lives... or maybe I'm just projecting my internal thoughts and feelings on these situations lol.

Yes. In a similar vein: I know I undermine my message when I frequently say sorry but saying sorry too much is a part of my culture (Minnesota, US) and I have bigger things to stress about than how often I say sorry. It's feminism to throw out stereotypical "feminine" ways of talking but it's also feminism to own some of the more feminine speaking habits. I just thought you came across as a very sweet, sincere, likable young girl. (I'm old as dirt... someone in their 40s is "young" to me as well). WHAAAAAAAAT honestly your voice doesn't sound weird to me at all, and I'm being totally 100% honest. You have a voice that's on the higher side, but it's not an unusual high, or a bad high, or a weird high in any way - it just sounds really adorable to me, and I think to a whole lot of other people too! I know this video is from a while ago, but you should be proud for taking about this, and also coming from so far, being mute to being on KZbin and talking to a large audience! I also didn't say a single word during school from about second grade to sophomore year and your words "I do not have a practiced voice, I have a voice that has been quiet for a very long time" got me very emotional...idk why... Not only that but I also have a build-a-bear bear on my bed and tsum tsum to the right of my bed (Just went to watch your wedding and now I'm back!) OMG your wedding was too perfect and cute I was literally about to get teary. You danced to You've Got A Freind In Me! ahhh that was cute. I can relate to Arlette's comment and your experiences too. I am very awkward at speaking, I am very self conscious about how I sound both in person and recorded because I was bullied very bad I sort of developed this personality where I just do not feel a need to speak or participate in social situations. So I can really relate to "I do not have a practiced voice" too... my voice is awkward, and quiet, and cracks when I get excited cause I'm honestly not used to speaking for extended periods. Just wanted to respond so you know, you are definitely not alone and I'm sorry that people are so insecure they feel the need to bully you for being unique :( You're very cute IMO and I like your videos.

so true, i was bullied once in middle school and i thought once i graduated, all the humiliation would just be washed away naturally and it wouldnt really affect me in the future, and then it turned out that i hadn't talked for so long that my voice shakes a lot when i talk in front of people and i became so much more introverted. the good thing is, not everybody is that mean and not understanding along the way in high school, i have met friends who are nice and relate to me a lot wish the best for u guys : )

I was mute till I was 6 because of family problems, had speech theropy until I was 10(because we needed my mouth muscles working)and I was perfect at sign language at 6(though I forgot it now). Now I'm 14 going to be 15 this year. I talk with all the end sound's stressed, people at my primary used to asked if I was Enlish or where I was from but I grew up in England and no one seemed to understand that. Then when I was in secondary school I got asked a lot if I was American, I asked them why and they said my accent (my mum said she kept moving every year until we found a nice place to live, so it's is from all over the place). Technically I've been talking for 8 years so my mum says I'm still perfecting talking.

Nothing about the way you spoke in this video struck me as odd or different other than you're a little quiet, but I watch a lot of ASMR videos so that's completely normal to my ear on YT. I also don't like loud talkers! Not everyone is going to like your voice, though, and while that's ok, being rude about it is not. When you see those types of comments, try to see them as a reflection on the ones making the comments, and not on yourself.

I was mute up until maybe freshmen year of highschool and still cant properly express the things i want to say sometimes. Most of the time its a really hard challenge to have an everyday conversation or even start a conversation with somebody. Back then id barely be able to talk to my family and someone trying to talk to me- I couldnt tell if they were trying to make a joke out of me or if they actually cared to talk. It was very hard and still is and i know how hard it can be to speak up. I get yelled at because i talk quiet sometimes even though to me it seems like im yelling. And i talk so much now sometimes to people i think i like so once i start i cant stop, wether im saying things wrong or not. If you ever need someone to talk to im here for you, if you need one of my contacts let me know. And if not then i can definitely support from the comments. Good luck and stay strong you can do this, and as for people in person that dont like you or believe your explanations or just choose not to: dont spend your time on people who are just going to waste it.

I had the same thing as you! I never said a word in school up until freshman year of high school. It's a mental health illness I had called selective mutism. I'm not sure if you had it not but I've had a very similar experience. It's still really hard for me to talk in person to people and I was bullied and also yelled at for not talking when I was little. I kind of had the ~opposite experience, being around bad & loud ppl since very young, my voice quickly became even more loud & abrasive & just sooo not "me", & I've struggled to change it / hide it all my life, no luck. Especially cuz I have trouble talking "too much" too, complicated by "word mixup" issues. But I developed a fascination with voices of all kinds tho, & accents & dialects & tones! So I often spend a lot of time reading random things aloud (by myself, lol), "just for kicks", ie Wiki pgs in "newscaster" mode, or pop lyrics with a deep "country" accent, fangirl cmts in cliche high-pitch girly style, & so on.. anything online really. At least, it can be fun to experiment! ;P

Have a regular conversation and now i talk to much and i have tons of mental illnesses (hate having to say it but its true) and theres been so many problems stemming from everything its like a huuuuge twisted and confusing tree! I just found your channel recently and watching this hurt my heart! I want to send you lots of love! Thanks for being so confident and open. Growing up I never talked either. I never thought of myself as a mute but I think that maybe why I have voice issues now. All through elementary my teachers thought i wasnt smart enough and wanted to hold me back in school because I had no friends and wouldn't talk to anyone.
