In the darkest days of the Pride Lands during the reign of Scar, Nala ventures away from her home in search of help. She travels far and wide, across deserts and jungles, with no food or water. She forges ahead through it all in hopes of saving her home and eventually Nala makes a discovery that is worth the journey that will save everything and everyone she loves: she finds the rightful king, Simba. During a time of great sorrow and destruction, Nala took it upon herself to seek salvation and succeeded, but how did she make that decision to go? What lead her to leave her Pride to go on this long, dangerous and uncertain journey? The truth... takes a dark turn.

Yeah sorry Scar, it's just that you're not really that kinda type. Nala was right to reject him because c'mon look at him he's crazy, lazy, corrupt, selfish, arrogant, abuses his power and has no respect for the pridelands (more importantly the Circle of Life) which is a common theme of the movie as we all know. And PS, Scar was and always had been unfit to be a king.

the hyenas didn't overhunt...they just over-consumed! scar said to them, "stick with me, and you'll never go hungry again!", as well as "it's the lioness' job to do the hunting!" so i just assume it meant the hyenas got first dibs on all the food when they moved into the pridelands and destroyed the balance of things.

@CarolinaMouse
@CarolinaMouse 5 жыл бұрын
@@PlanetZoidstar Actually she serves the plot by being the one who gets the ball rolling on SIMBA COMING BACK TO THE PRIDE LANDS!!! She is his connection to home when she comes into the jungle chasing Pumbaa as evidenced by when she pins him..for the time in the film for those of you keeping score. When she pins him, he instantly recognizes this otherwise stranger to him as his childhood best friend and things progress from there both in terms of Nala and Simba's romance as well as the overall story itself. Do not devalue Nala much less her importance to the overall plot with such sexist and moronic comments just so you can not only be proven how wrong and uncouth you are for saying such a stupid thing that i'm sure you only said so your pathetic self can get the attention you so stupidly crave and think "Hey if I said this silly lil thing I'd get attention" when really things like the statement you made should not be made without proper research and rewatching first to see if such a statement is true when...it's not in this case. If you watch the movie and REALLY pay attention you would have and perhaps one day you will (though I highly doubt it at this point and rate) that Nala is not just a lioness who does, yes, give Simba an heir...oh wait, she really gives him an heiress first (Kiara who you meet in the sequel and is the one who will succeed Simba as queen of the pride lands in time) then an heir by the name of Kion whom you meet in the Lion Guard series. But she is his connection to home when she comes back into his life and is the one who starts getting him on the path to go back to the Pride Lands and take down Scar-Rafiki just reinforces her and what she did in talking to him, telling him what's going on and pleading with him to come home and take his place in both the pride and in the Circle of Life as king...with Nala as his FIERCE and equally important queen.
@PlanetZoidstar
@PlanetZoidstar 5 жыл бұрын
@@CarolinaMouse You might want to rewatch Nala's scenes. She tries to get Simba to come back to the Pridelands but he flat out refuses, they have a fight and he storms off. He even then sulks by convincing himself going back wouldn't fix anything and that he can't change the past. He only comes back after seeing Mufasa in the clouds and Rafiki tells him he can run from the past or learn from it. So Nala had no bearing on him coming back. You could cut her out entirely, have Rafiki and Mufasa show up and nothing would change. And no, my criticism against Nala and her relevance to the plot has nothing to do with her gender. It's simply stating the fact of her irrelevance to the narrative. The romance between Simba and Nala was rushed and underdeveloped, considering how quickly they fall in love. Like, what, a few hours? I don't count Simba's Pride because it retcons the ending to The Lion King and I have a hard time buying Scar had a whole faction of loyal supporters who were not around or even mentioned in the first movie. I also do not count The Lion Guard because that retcons both movies. If we're meant to take TLG as canon then you need to explain where Kion was during Simba's Pride. Also Kiara would not lead the Pride, Kovu would, since The Lion King is a Patriarchal society.

Well, I already knew that but I wanted to hear Isaac explain. And for all those who think Vitani is Scar's and Nala's daughter, no, she is not. What Scar did was attempted rape, because Nala escaped early enough and got exiled. Also, Scar only now got the idea of having a queen (and cubs) so the posibility of raping Nala early is excluded. If you think Nala is her mother because of Vitani's eyes( they are actually violet) or fur, there is this thing called a recessive gene. Sorry for any wrong spelling!

But then just after the opening circle of life song I was blown away and enchanted in a matter of seconds. and through that a learned there's a certain amount of magic of watching something live. all the actors were really into their roles and when the song be prepared came the actor who played scar began passion singing and looking at him you could really tell he was really getting into it. After you watch the play you should make a video on your thoughts about it. I'd love to hear it :)

Meh. Nala is overrated. The movie tries to make her seem strong but she always buckles under pressure when it matters most: Slips down and needs Simba to save her. Cowers while Simba at least tries to scare off the Hyenas. Says she will fight for the Pridelands but doesn't stand up for Simba when Scar accuses him fot Mufasa's death. Only joins the fight when Simba turns the tables on Scar. Not very indepentent.

Greatsaiyakirby You can’t blame her for needing Simba to save her. Nala without a doubt would NOT win a battle with Scar(especially including the hyenas, though they are unstable at this point) and Simba(though he lost to Nala) would most likely be the best chance they have

@@tlkfanrwbyfan8716 Given that Simba didn't really do that much besides fight Scar (who ran as soon as his Hyenas started losing to the Lionesses) I think Nala could have easily beat Scar. This is something i never thought about now that i think of it as odd that she went to the very place where simba is without being told that he is there. Rafiki got a hint of simbas fur so maybe he privately told nala that simba is alive, so she ends up hunting for food around the jungle but most importantly trying to locate simba

Heck yeah, I'd love to see that scene in the movie. It gives more insight to Nala's leaving the Pridelands as well as the continued corruption of Scar. You covered those topics really well in this video, but I'd like to see what the makers of the movie could do with that particular scene. I love your Lion King videos, by the way! It's the best Disney movie of all time, in my opinion.

i knew as soon as i saw the title that this was gonna be about THAT scene. a great analysis as always. even a relatively dark Disney movie like The Lion King wasn't gonna go so far as to have the villain threaten to rape the female lead. they were saving that for Hunchback of Notre Dame ;)

@chelc6101
@chelc6101 5 жыл бұрын
karime Ortiz he wanted mufasas pride, because they had all the land, territory and control, why would scar want to banish himself just to have a pride that's his when he could kill his brother, made with all mufasas brides and female children. Simba was the only male child and he chased him off. Leaving for the banished lands after all that, nah, he had nieces like Nala he wanted to tend to.

Excellent question, something we’ve all been wondering. Hopefully this’ll have been explained and expanded upon in the live action reboot where we actually see Nala leave the Pride Lands during Scar’s Reign.

(😱) Yes! I sincerely hope they include the "Madness of Scar" sequence in the 2019 remake. It sounds like really important information that I wish they had never cut out. Maybe they did it since it's supposed to be a children's movie and that's a heavy topic, but I feel like it adds really important context for not only the plot but also Nala's own character and backstory. I can't wait to see the 2019 remake!

Last week, I watched the broadway musical (lion king) for my birthday! I think why Nala left is more clear in that. Like you said, I think she was already angry and sad because of the loss of food, but it got pushed over the edge when she was basically raped by scar. Ewww Scar!She is young enough to be you daughter! 🤢

I hope they put Shadowland in the Remake of 2019. In my opinion it is one of the best scenes in the whole musical. Also, the madness of king Scar can fit in the new film, but they just have to make it a bit less creepy..... Great video!!

You should do a series of videos about what "new" themes may pop up in the 2019 "Lion King". I think that Jon Favreau could take some of the story in "The Lion Guard" to give an added layer of reasoning for Scar's absconding of the "Throne" of Pride Rock.

If they go for a darker tone as they did with the recent Jungle Book adaptation, I think they’re obligated to have The Madness of King Scar. It fills the minor plot hole of the first movie. I would be pretty disappointed (and honestly a bit surprised) if they left it out, especially now that so many people know about it through the stage show. But then again, they ARE cutting “Be Prepared”, so what do I know 🤷‍♂️

Wotso Lion King's one of my most favorite disneys growing up. I already knew there was a dark motive by Scar why Nala left so far to find Simba. So yes, Nala's journey to find help for her pride more than worth it in the end. Especially after yes, Scar tried something dastardly her motive behind Nala's journey. Which would find more than she hoped in the process. And all the more worthwhile it is with true king returned in the end started by Nala's journey. That's the best lioness ever Nala is to go that far to end Scar's reign over her pride.

Hmmm, looking back on the locations and characters in the 2 lion king movies (1994)(2004) the pridelands seems very similar to the place it's modelled after (hells gate national park, kenya) and the outlands to that of Somalia. The hyenas who reside in the outlands are all dark (a trait of most cushite people of somalia).When Disney sent people to give a detailed description for the movie, America and U.N. forces were entering the somali civil war and the threat of terrorism on Kenyan soil was greater than before ,represented by hostilities of the outlanders to the pridelanders .The movie had some real world facts.

in first version scar wants nala - he want to nala be a queen and i think thats good reason why she left prideland and why in second version vitani hate nala more than others - maybe she watch scene when scars talk about this and vitani has a rancor, cause she think when she small that nala want to steal her dad (really or not really but dad) - Vitani was born on prideland. I think maybe Scar choose nala, cause she was young and pretty and maybe in him youth Sarabi choose Mufasa and he want to revenge on her - hurt one of her lionesses with whom she must take care and the best friends of her death children and she was watching how nala grow up every day since she was born - sorry for my English, that isn't my native language

I learned from watching a few Lion King Videos, about the deleted scenes of the animated movie, that "The Madness of King Scar" song was originally going to be in the animated movie, but they scrapped it because one line Scar said. If they changed that line, we could have seen the song in the animated movie, and we could see the song in the remake.
