Why Naruto's Power Scaling is Misunderstood

[ 4:36 ] tbf Yea Naruto's arsenal didn't change much going into the timeskip, but it was mainly about improving him on Shinobi basics. If part 1 Naruto got in a Genjutsu it was GG's. Jiraiya taught him on how to counter genjutsu, much better chakra control for both his own and kurama, different varieties on shuriken jutsu which he didn't use much previously. Getting stronger Naruto had to learn the basics first but yea he didn't really get much going into the timeskip. But yea I agree with the take just dropped my 2 cents

Actually the biggest factor in naruto that never gets brought up is behavior. I noticed this a lot in the Itachi match ups. More often then not, itachi baits his opponent into hand to hand with a clone so that hr can use tsukoyomi or another powerful genjutsu on them, but no one actually discussed this as a tactic that he could use to beat even high level opponents who would likely be wiling to open with a taijutsu exchange before using any jutsu. Even someone like Minato would be susceptible to this tactic as he likes to gauge his opponents begore going all out, which i feel could actually lead to his his downfall in this situation.

Your assesment of Itachi's fighting style is _fine,_ but Minato does not gauge his opponents before going all out. Minato is one of the most bloodlusted characters in the entire series. He almost exclusively goes for killing blows in the fights we're shown (e.g. he mercs that one stone ninja in Kakashi Gaiden, during that same mission he takes down an entire platoon in a matter of seconds, he immediately tries to kill A with a stab to the back of the head/neck, he aims for Obito's head after teleporting the nine tail's Bijuu bomb, he doesn't even let Obito finish talking after the Rasengan lands, and he slashes Obito with a kunai before even recognizing him as an edo.) The man is straight up all gas no brakes in every fight.

for people who say that Hashirama beats Itachi just because he is more powerful than Itachi, being more powerful than someone doesn't mean beating that person, even if Hashirama doesn't look at Itachi's eyes, Itachi can summon his crows that can use tsukuyomi, and Hashirama isn't an uchiha so he can't get out of tsukuyomi, there's also no proof that Hashirama can react to amaterasu, I really think Itachi's susano wouldn't be a problem because Hashirama can simply use wooden attacks that come from the ground. Hashirama is stronger than Itachi, but in a battle he would probably lose.

Hashirama has bringer of darkness genjutsu which negates itachi’s own ability to use genjutsu. Some of hashirama’s wood style absorbs/surpresses chakra The Taya mirror and susanoo are made of chakra

Sir, you are thinking of Tobimaru, his brother, Hashirama cant do that jutsu. Yes, some of his wood style can suppress tailed beasts but we have seen that it doenst hold people dont as much with Madara as a primary example

Okay I just looked it up. He does perform it in the manga but yet it's his brother who does it in the anime. Now that technique itself is a genjutsu which itachi would clearly see through, the reason it worked on hirzuen is because he didn't have the defense against it or someone to disrupt his charka flow

Yes but that's more of a writer issue in that Kishimoto showed that to get out of a genjutsu at the time, you needed to release yourself and it wasn't till the timeskip that we saw other methods. I'm not saying it's easy peasy but if anyone can break out of a genjutsu in the verse, it would be Itachi

I feel your making a similar mistake with jutsu as power scalers do with things like attack potency. You are placing the concept of rock, paper, scissors ahead of everything else. True, certain jutsu are better at dealing with other jutsu, but it's really about how it all comes together with the tactics of how they deal with each others strengths and weaknesses. Any skilled and powerful ninja can beat any other, provided they can figure out a way to work around the oppenents strengths and take advantage of their weaknesses. For instance, if Ninja A has some advatange due to having a particular jutsu, does mean an automatically win. Ninja B is just forced to be more clever, which does happen in the series.

Yes i understand the logic you are applying in terms of intelligence or battle IQ being a factor a lot more in Naruto compared to other shows. The problem is that when you do VS battles with Naruto Characters fighting non-naruto characters, they lack the information of any techinque in Naruto and thus certain abilities that might not be as effective in the Naruto verse will be game-changers in other fights

@@TheOldWeeb not exactly my point. There is an overemphasis on power and abilities. Not much thought goes beyond X is too strong or Y abilities doesn't matchup well. It's kind of boring to think so unimaginitively about how a fight might go. In truth, its not the character's battle intelligence that we need to look at, i am saying its more about the way we use our own to explore the likely possibilities of their abilities, and what it takes to exploit weaknesses. Then try to figure out if they can do those things. The truth is the best way to figure out how any matchup might go, you have to almost think, " if i had these abilities, how would i go about the fight." Without examining this, all you are doing is a weird combination of comparing percieve power levels and playing rock paper scissors, which is boringly straight forward but totally lacking in how a fighter might process a situation where they seemingly have a disadvantage.

I disagree with a lot of this video although I do appreciate a delve into the naruto verse. You don't have to speculate how strong naruto gets. In part 2 kakashi redid the bell test and naruto and sakura performed far better this time actually being able to get the bells. The logically conclusion is that although they may not have surpassed kakashi yet they are strong enough together to combat him and maybe even beat him. Also itachi can't beat hashirama. There's no way that mirror can withstand that thousand armed Buddha statue. The point of the guide books is to hype up the series so the wording is often embellished. Also hashirama doesn't have genjustu resistance but he's used to fighting uchiha's. With sage mode he can fight with his eyes closed

Naruto and Sakura got smarter and got new techniques but that's part of my point about how they didn't reach a milestone but simply got new things. I have no reason to not believe the databook statements especially when nothing in the series contradicts the claims

I watch both of those guys and the points I've made about naruto scaling as a whole in the community is my point. They are great in how they scale in the conventional way and I'm saying naruto is unconventional

I agree with most of what you said but you completely ignored phisical strenght and speed and just slightly brushed over chackra pool. If someone who does not know naruto would watch this he could believe guy and lee are equal up until the 5th gate which is nuts, in the gara fight for instance guy could take garra in base while lee lost with 5 gates. The rasengan also doesn not only scale with size, I m preety sure an equal sized ransengan from post timeskip naruto is stronger than a pre timeskip one. Stamina or life force or hp idk also plays a big role. Yeah the ninja ranking are not equal but from what i ve seen when people say jonin level or kagelevel or whatever they also give points of refference and also split the rankings ie peak jonin or low kage are close in power and a fight can go either way depending on their tools but a high kage level and a chunin level is a no brainer. Like you said, naruto was kage level by the end of part one but he was oficially a genin. Who cares about documents??

I didn't ignore physical strength as more so it's not a factor as much in naruto scaling simply due to the conversation Guy had to sakura and Naruto explaining Lee's fighting style. The rasengan does scale if you put more charka in it or give it nature transformations but I am simply referring to the base version which is the one most used by naruto, minato, konohamaru and even jirayia. The gates thing is a valid point but idk who would watch this without some level of understanding already from the show or watched the show and if you think about it. We do put guy pretty high in power rankings simply for the gates

Yes he's fought Madara but he didn't fight Itachi who is superior in genjutsu. The Yata Mirror is stated to reflect all attacks from the front in the data book. If anything tries to attack itachi from the front, it's getting blocked

Considering madara was way stronger than itachi and fought and lost to hashirama, then its easy to assume that itachi couldn’t do what madara did to hashirama against hashirama, itachi has no answer to the Buddha statue for example, yatta mirror isn’t 360 defense

It isn't a 360 defense correct but the Buddha statue 100% does do a pure frontal attack. Itachi simply needs to keep him in front of him and with his fighting style, he just needs to find one opening and he wins
