I remember going to a baby showing in high school and I spent the whole time sitting under the kitchen table with two massive Newfoundland dog giving them all the love I could. These guy’s were huge. So cute. So loveable. So gentle. If I stoped petting them they would paw at me!!! I love them so much.

Daisy is a purebred AKC Newfoundland. Her color is most commonly called a Landseer. Daisy is only 8 months old so she still has growing to do as this breed can continue to grow until 2 to 3 years of age. NOT ALL NEWFOUNDLANDS ARE HUGE. Also not all Newfoundland’s have big heads and long flappy jowls. The average weight for a female Newfoundland is 100 to 120 pounds. Back in the day Newfoundland’s weren’t as big as they are today. The average size of a newfie was 100 pounds. Which back then was huge! Like with every breed, breeders have made changes to the breed. Today’s Newfoundland’s have been bred to be bigger with large heads and flappy jowls. Which in all reality is terrible on their joints. Bigger is not always better. Daisy resembles more of a old school Newfoundland. Some old school breeders would refer to her as a “throwback Newfoundland” as she resemble more of what the breed use to look like back in the day. Daisy is charting to weigh around 110 pounds. I’ve seen some Newfies that weren’t much bigger than my golden retriever Buddy. Then I’ve seen some that were so big they looked like bears. Just like people every newfie is different. I also did a health/DNA test on her when she was a puppy. I wanted to see if she was predisposed to any health issues that run in the breed. Her DNA results show she is 100% Newfoundland.

Sadly so many dogs are being bred up or down or for "conformation" show.. Bad breeders don't consider the consequences of that physically or the temperament of the dogs.They've been ruined so much they can't possibly do the jobs they were originally bred for. It's so sad. You are obviously very careful about your breeders. Your dogs are well rounded, not too big/small. Great example that you shouldn't feel guilty if you shop. As long as you do so responsibly.

Everything you’re saying Daisy is so true and I should know because I had a Newfoundland and he was the best!! Not only was he loyal lovable kind sweet friendly and not to mention smart and I do mean very smart. My beautiful handsome boy Blackie understood English and Italian and made me feel so lucky having him as friend. I miss him to this day and will never forget how special he was and all the joy and love he gave me and my family. Newfies are fantastic. The sweetest gentlest dog I ever owned was a Newfie. All the neighborhood kids flocked to him. They would pet and hang all over him and he just loved being the center of attention. I'd sit on the floor and he would come plop his giant head in my lap to get ear scratches and muzzle rubs. What a great dog. Thanks for sharing your good girl.

We have 3 newfs, they are all 'blowing coat'. Never seen sooo much hair, vacuum today and tons more tomorrow :) Carpets had to go and installed hardwood floors. The BEST vacuum to battle the hair is the Rainbow. $2500 but so worth it :)
