They’re expensive because of the market. You have 90% of a shoe’s stock under the possession of resellers so everyone who wants a pair has to pay that mark up. But without the aftermarket, a sneaker wouldn’t be as much of a flex so it’s what keeps the hype going

I love how the myth of the Air Jordan 1 continues so that even Business Insider believes it. The NBA did not ban his shoe. They banned the black and red colorway because it violated their policy. After receiving a warning, Jordan wore AJ1s that were mostly white and did not violate the NBA policy. So no fine was paid because no rule was broken. He only wore the red and black shoes in two pre-season games and in the dunk contest and he was given a warning after those events, and never fined.

NBA didnt ban the black and red air jordans one, they meant it to be Michaels old air nike shoes which the colour looks exactly like it. Nike also mistook it and thought it was banned because the NBA never stated which model they were referring to. Thats also why the first air jordans one was black and red, to match micheal jordans old air nike black and red shoe and to also match the chicago bulls theme. People pay those prices because they're insecure. They require validation from others. They have 0 style. Sneakerheads are mostly sheep when it comes to fashion. It's an addiction. A disease.

because they are so hyped! That’s it. Scarcity is a factor but not important because if people don’t go nuts over these pairs of shoes, having 1 or 2 or 3000 pairs just doesn’t matter at all.

So initially Jordans cost $65 and even today I would not pay $65 for a pair of shoes. I don't despise sneakerheads who have the money and are independent but the ones living with their parents are apparently lucky enough to be special.

The main reason the resell is more is because it is more limited so that causes hype because it makes people want to have a shoe that less people have and there are less shoes for everyone (supply and demand)

This isn’t really hyp though, Hype is when a vast majority of people praise and talk about it which leads to it being uniformley considered as special. The Jordan 1’s dont have that same effect and is mostly becaue its been engraved with the culture for so long

Michael Jordan didn't actually wear the Jordan 1's in his rookie season. He wore Nike Air Ship in a red and black colourway which was against the nba rules. Honestly, check out the rookie season! I just purchased a pair of jordan 1 mids and sat me back £120 so not that bad in really
@Baraalaydi2 жыл бұрын
I’ll tell you the reason: The hype, the logo. That’s it. Not quality. Not refinement. Not luxury. Skechers are more comfortable at a fraction of the price.
