@@outtaideas849 the wii u and 3ds era had a lot of stinkers like amiibo party, ultra smash, a million new soup games, chibi robo ziplash, starfox zero, Mario party 9 and 10, and now on the switch we have the new golf game with barely any content receiving the actual game as free dlc, new horizons was the same at launch being lesser than the previous game pre-updates and had the one save problem, 3d all stars, fire emblem 1 and mario online being limited and barebones... Nintendo made a lot of bad to mediocre games and still does that. But they know people will buy even underwhelming products at full price because they're Nintendo.

Fun fact for ya: The composer for the original Star Fox actual quit working at Nintendo because they wouldn't allow him to release the game's soundtrack on CD/Cassette. Correction: a CD did get released in 1995 but Hajime was not given royalties since he didn't own those compositions and had stop working at Nintendo years prior due to an ownership dispute. He wanted to have ownership like Squaresoft and Enix's composers did.

The problem with that is that everytime the file is reuploaded and redownloaded it degrades in quality. The only way to get true high quality copies is to copy it personally locally from someone's ripped files or downloading raw uncompressed files from a dropbox or google drive. Preservation only comes from true archiving

Gee, for a company that hates piracy, they seem to be completely inept on methods to stop it. Rule 1 of combating Piracy: If you make acquiring a legal version of your product convenient, even if it costs money, a large sum(if not a majority) of fans will buy said product for the convenience alone.

As a Japanese composer, who does cooperate with some game companies sometimes, and does love Nintendo and their music, it's always heartbreaking to hear the cry and the scream from fans outside of Japan. Even though I've been buying their CDs as physical copies of their official soundtracks, it can't be avoided to feel if we had them on KZbin or Spotify. Siivagunner was one of the channels that provide the way to enjoy the music that we love, but as you know it's gone, due to their claim... One thing I might want to point out is, as I understanding the copyright and related law in Japan as a person who have been working with music closely, we don't have fair-use law, and cultural understanding of it among people either - which is sometimes really problematic and I believe it could be the cause of Nintendo's very old-fashioned stance of distribution of their music, although there must be a lot more complicated circumstances. As you and other a lot people pointing out, I really wish one day they change their stance, and at least respect to fans of their music much more broadly...

Shame that you can't get your hands on any of the other anniversary orchestrations, since they are straight fire (seriously, check them out, they are so good. Especially the 30th anniversary. It includes the milk bar from MM, what more do I need to say? I'll say it anyway, since I can't stop gushing about it. It has an epic boss medley, an amazing short melody medley, and a beautiful medley which includes my favorite tracks from Link's Awakening. If you are reading this, please give it a listen)

Whenever Nintendo releases phenomenal gaming music, they take a few steps forward, but then proceed to immediately go back a mile, dig underground, and bury themselves in the Earth for god knows how long so that they can drown out the complaints of fans who just want to play 3 seconds worth of Nintendo music Also, this is only semi-related, but EarthBound music (and content sometimes) is also getting harder to listen to because Sony is going nuts with copyright and that's really unfortunate

As someone who adores listening to music from Super Mario Galaxy, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda all day long...I'm very familiar with the feeling of going to my KZbin playlist and finding 20+ songs suddenly missing. The moment feels like a punch in the gut, realizing the song I wrote essays to is just gone, without any hope of returning. Or the song that cheered me up and made me feel like I could do anything got snatched away. I could provide practically infinite examples, but you get the idea. And I know it's easy to just look up the song and find a few more extensions by other creators, but it's exhausting to look for the same song three times in the same month. I'm tired of having to go out of my way to listen to music. What hurts even more is that the comments of these music videos is full of people coming together and collectively appreciating the music and the game it came from. All these people vowing to dust off their old Wii and play these games again, inspired by the music. Nintendo's all about bringing communities together when it uses Nintendo Switch Online - *hmmmmm* - but strangely cannot tolerate such a harmless group of people enjoying something that makes their games special. Why, Nintendo. Just why. Thank you for reading my essay! Have a virtual cookie!🍪 Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to listen to a Sonic soundtrack now. :)

The only thing I would agree with Nintendo on is having a problem with youtubers feeling they have the right just to include any piece of music in their videos. It takes so much hard work/money to compose, perform and record the music, a hell of a lot more than it takes to make the average KZbin video. A lot of the time you hear video game music in videos that have nothing to do with that particular video game. KZbinrs always make such a big fuss when people take their videos and don’t credit them but they have no problem with taking music to enhance their videos without consent.

This video reminded me of a once existing video that was titled in Japanese, was hard to search for, and was a random Donkey Kong country song. I found it randomly one day, but when I did, there were 91 million before me who found it, and decided it was an internet checkpoint. It was beautiful, seeing how thousands of thousands of people like me, were struggling, but even so, were recording their journey and powering through, or even giving motivation to others. Then in 2022, about march to may, the video was removed from Nintendo, after 91 million people had hit the checkpoint, and nearly 1/5 of which recorded their progress. It was heart breaking, and something I’ll never forget.

I don't care about zelda, mario, or whatever else they make. Let me buy a genuine Pokemon Emerald and a GBA SP so I can relive my childhood for less than $200...

@@AkameGaKillfan777 I didn't mention other titles because I haven't played any, therefore I don't know their flaws. I've heard that people are pissed about zelda ports being sold as full priced games and I've seen how they ignore fans and just make carbon copy mario games that no one asks for. Other than that, I know very little of their main popular titles.

Maybe if people actually stopped putting in the effort to talk about their games, like carefully editing gameplays or recreating the soundtrack themselves, they would actually lose money and notice they are outdated.

it's such inexcusable behaviour when several of their bigger soundtracks (Splatoon 2 and Fire Emblem Three Houses immediately come to mind) have been released physically in full, but ONLY in japan for a timed collectors release they already compiled the soundtracks, the work is done, just upload them on a streaming service or offer the same physical discs worldwide (I can guarantee they'd sell more copies of their soundtracks if you could just buy the CDs/DVDs individually instead of with a bunch of merch that not everyone cares about)

Thanks a lot for shining light on this serious issue that greatly impacts the video game cover and remix community. Nintendo's stance on licensing forces constraints on musicians' creativity, which is a pity since there are many unlicenseable favorite Nintendo tunes that people would love to see covered more frequently. And we appreciate the Line Them Up! shoutout! In addition to all the musicians, many game composers (including Donkey Kong/Rare series composers David Wise, Robin Beanland, and Grant Kirkhope) joined us and the team to perform on that project. We were scared about the possibility of Line Them Up! receiving a takedown (and still are scared, to be honest), but we did it anyway out of love for the VGM community and Origami King's soundtrack. The fact that so many composers joined us shows that your point about Nintendo's stance on fan projects doing a disservice to the original composers and their music is spot-on.

Dude I swear Nintendo is the worst when it comes to taking shit down. Seriously, why take down rom sites when you aren't going to sell said ROMs? They could literally partner with the people that make stuff like project 64 to sell their old stuff

It simple, most of the rom sites they take down are pirating the games and making a profit, that is why they take it down. And for why they don’t higher them, to them, they are already untrustworthy.

@@hi-i-am-atan no, if the service includes nes, snes or switch games that people have to pay in the pirate or rom site, they are, in Nintendo’ s eyes, affecting their revenue. This is not only the switch, but also the Wii U and 3ds eshop games. Along those platform online store are still active, Nintendo can put pirating rom sites to court and shut them down. Edit: It’s just explaining Nintendo’s mentality in going after pirating rom sites. I don’t support neither side in this process.
