In an isolated island far from Humans, if there exists a small tribal community and they do not know anything about god or devil… they just follow the nature and fulfill the needs of their body … will these people have salvation from Krishna or not since they do not worship god and they do not stop eating meat

@@bhaskaradgual8850 why is it that everytime when such videos come out, people only talk about the outliers or exceptional cases? Then again, concepts like these are less about religion or God and more about being born a human and the capacity of his consciousness. The more human consciousness, the more closer you are to Krishna consciousness. Hare Krishna! 🙏

To give a little context to my question: A few days ago, I was talking to a person of the Gaudya Vaishnavism belief, who said to me: "It is absolutely necessary to grow in spiritual awareness, to adopt a vegetarian diet, because only then can we advance in understanding that we are not these bodies, remembering that animals also carry eternal souls like ours. It is not possible to relativize this." Well, what I replied to this person is that certainly, if we can choose, we should choose that behavior that doesn't hurt anyone, and that should include all other beings, including insects and plants. But that when this is not possible, we must accept the Lord's arrangement, and follow our conditioned existence with tranquility, taking refuge in His causeless mercy, understanding that in fact we are not our bodies, we are eternal souls, portions of God, but that we live here conditioned by limitations that the Lord himself conceived. So I would give this person the example of the Inuit people, who people more commonly characterize as "Eskimos". These people have lived for a long time in this world in a region where it is not possible to live without hunting and fishing. They need to hunt and fish to maintain their material bodies, because in the place where God gave them birth, there is no way to plow fields, cultivate trees and raise cows to collect their milk (if you consider here a person who thinks that drinking milk is ok...). They do need to kill seals, catch fish, and make use of animal skins to protect themselves from severe weather conditions. Is it then that these people cannot chant the names and glories of the Lord, offer their food to God, and eat the prasada (consecrated food) that they can offer to the Lord? You see, every Inuit is an eternal soul, living in this world as a human being. Could it be that these eternal souls cannot develop a loving relationship with God because of the configuration of their births? It makes no sense. So, concretely speaking, we need to be humble. If then you can live sustaining your body on a vegetarian diet, that is fine and should be encouraged. But that will be thanks to the Lord's arrangement, which allowed us to live this way. Is this way of thinking of mine obscured, according to the understanding of the faith that you teach?

Thank you for reaching out, I totally understand your humble heart that we should not impose absolute standards on everyone. To give context to the clip, Srila Prabhupada is speaking to a person from a sophisticated amercian society where despite having vegetables, grains, fruits and milk in abundance, people are running slaugther houses to mercilessly kill animals in unimaginable numbers to satisfy their taste buds. The act of mercilessly killing animals in mechanized slaughter houses is an act of barbarism. As far as the Eskimos are concerned, its justified that they are put in a situation however they do not run slaughter houses, they work hard to hunt their food. They have been put in such a drastic condition of life due to their past activities. So, if they with a humble heart understand as you mentioned everything and perform bhakti, its upto them and God to decide. We are no one to judge. However, when sophisticated civilizations become maddened with wealth and power and engage in mass scale slaughter to satisfy their taste buds it has no justification. Hope this clarifies. This is not to judge or hurt anyone however truth needs to be established, for compassion in this world is not just for humans but for all other living beings too. Giving the pain of death to another living entity is much higher than the pain of controlling one's urge to eat meat. Here is a section where Narada Muni is mentioning this, which Srila Prabhupada is repeating here, Srimad Bhagavatam: Canto Chapter 10 Text 8: Nārada Muni said: Among all the attractions of material enjoyment, the attraction of riches bewilders one’s intelligence more than having beautiful bodily features, taking birth in an aristocratic family, and being learned. When one is uneducated but falsely puffed up by wealth, the result is that one engages his wealth in enjoying wine, women and gambling. Text 9: Unable to control their senses, rascals who are falsely proud of their riches or their birth in aristocratic families are so cruel that to maintain their perishable bodies, which they think will never grow old or die, they kill poor animals without mercy. Sometimes they kill animals merely to enjoy an excursion. Text 10: While living one may be proud of one’s body, thinking oneself a very big man, minister, president or even demigod, but whatever one may be, after death this body will turn either into worms, into stool or into ashes. If one kills poor animals to satisfy the temporary whims of this body, one does not know that he will suffer in his next birth, for such a sinful miscreant must go to hell and suffer the results of his actions. Text 11: While alive, does this body belong to its employer, to the self, to the father, the mother, or the mother’s father? Does it belong to the person who takes it away by force, to the slave master who purchases it, or to the sons who burn it in the fire? Or, if the body is not burned, does it belong to the dogs that eat it? Among the many possible claimants, who is the rightful claimant? Not to ascertain this but instead to maintain the body by sinful activities is not good. Text 12: This body, after all, is produced by the unmanifested nature and again annihilated and merged in the natural elements. Therefore, it is the common property of everyone. Under the circumstances, who but a rascal claims this property as his own and while maintaining it commits such sinful activities as killing animals just to satisfy his whims? Unless one is a rascal, one cannot commit such sinful activities. Text 13: Atheistic fools and rascals who are very much proud of wealth fail to see things as they are. Therefore, returning them to poverty is the proper ointment for their eyes so they may see things as they are. At least a poverty-stricken man can realize how painful poverty is, and therefore he will not want others to be in a painful condition like his own. Text 14: By seeing their faces, one whose body has been pricked by pins can understand the pain of others who are pinpricked. Realizing that this pain is the same for everyone, he does not want others to suffer in this way. But one who has never been pricked by pins cannot understand this pain. Text 15: A poverty-stricken man must automatically undergo austerities and penances because he does not have the wealth to possess anything. Thus his false prestige is vanquished. Always in need of food, shelter and clothing, he must be satisfied with what is obtained by the mercy of providence. Undergoing such compulsory austerities is good for him because this purifies him and completely frees him from false ego. Text 16: Always hungry, longing for sufficient food, a poverty-stricken man gradually becomes weaker and weaker. Having no extra potency, his senses are automatically pacified. A poverty-stricken man, therefore, is unable to perform harmful, envious activities. In other words, such a man automatically gains the results of the austerities and penances adopted voluntarily by saintly persons. Text 17: Saintly persons may freely associate with those who are poverty-stricken, but not with those who are rich. A poverty-stricken man, by association with saintly persons, very soon becomes uninterested in material desires, and the dirty things within the core of his heart are cleansed away.

@@gaur_sharan Firstly, thank you very much for the answer! Yes, certainly Swami Prabhupada's guidance was for practitioners who live in cities and have access to a wide variety of foods. I have no doubt that the merciful choice argument is indisputable: If we have the opportunity to feed ourselves without causing suffering, why should we not choose this option? OK perfect. But here I am asking about the concept of offering to the Lord. Could we not consider that the heart of the issue of a "good offering" is not precisely the offerer's love for God? In this case, a person ignorant about the condition of animals as jivas (eternal souls only clothed in the "clothes" of a primitive being), but still a worshiper of God (with imperfect knowledge), could not offer God his food "in the way of ignorance" but with the right spiritual attitude? And in the case of the example of the Eskimos, wouldn't it be possible to preach the path of Caitanya to people with such characteristics? Objectively: could a Vaishnava missionary among the Eskimos ignore this regulatory principle? Thank you very much in advance!
@gaur_sharan10 ай бұрын
@@devotoderamakrishna Krishna does say he prefers fruits, water or leaf however the main thing is love. As I said earlier, God is unlimited and his mercy too so if a person offers with love and remembers Krishna that will purify them. Sheila Prabhupada in his compassionate mood once said if a person genuinely appreciates while drinking wine that the taste of wine is also coming from God he can be purified. As far as outreach is concerned, if a Vaishnava ever plans an outreach to Eskimos then he might have to instruct them according to time, place and circumstances.

If it’s a question of morality, who are we to say a plants life/consciousness is more valuable than an animals? All life has a beginning and an end, and something MUST die in order for other life to continue. If we don’t eat the animal, the microbes in the soil will, and eventually they will die to nourish the plants - it’s the cycle of life! Fruit seems to be the only plant that wants to be eaten, the tree deliberately placed the seeds inside it, but vegetables; they’re different! For example celery, you are eating the plant- is this ethical? Why is this okay and not meat? Abstaining from meat is a good thing though for a number of reasons, it makes your consciousness lighter and more receptive to subtle energies. You also stop absorbing the hormones from animals, and give your digestive system a break. It’s healthier for your gut microbiome too, but we also see in people who avoid meat and fish for long periods of time, can be deficient in some nutrition. But do what you like.. for periods of intense introspection be vegetarian, fast, do yoga and mediation. Life is cyclical, so we go in and out of phases. Anyway - I’m not anything. I don’t subscribe to labels or absolutes. I eat meat some days, and other times I go weeks without. I notice pro’s and con’s - so just listen to your intuition. Your own guiding mechanism is tuned perfectly to where you are in life, and what you need. You are so incredibly unique, and your path is SO UNIQUE. Like a snowflake - similar, but no one has your exact DNA and life experience - so trust that everything will happen when it needs to. If you want to experience being vegetarian, if your intuition falls you to try it or that it holds answers, then DO IT. But don’t switch to being a ‘vegetarian’. Labels create resistance and limitations, just live in the present moment and make your decisions here and here only.

Many of us have been raised eating non-veg right after our birth. We have continued on this path. How is that our fault? Many of us do not go out and kill/slaughter a chicken, goat, fish and then cook and eat them. By not committing ourselves any form of such act to satisfy our own taste buds, how are we committing any sin? If I go to a restaurant and order a plate of nice mutton korma with parata, how am I guilty of killing an animal?
@gaur_sharan9 ай бұрын
Hare Krishna Debji, The purpose is not to make you feel bad or blame anyone; the principle is to avoid possible violence against living entities. Forget about the past, family, habits, etc. However, it's not a sound or honest reason to say that I am not slaughtering, so I am not responsible. If we eat then we are part of the cause.
@debchatterjee67089 ай бұрын
@@gaur_sharan Hare Krishna Gaur Sharan ji: Any food we take (vegan, vegetarian or non-vegetarian) comes in some way or the other by extinguishing some form of life. So if I constantly think that I cannot avoid responsibility, that by consuming food of some form, I am killing life - then human survival becomes impossible. It is analogous to the concept of Sankhya yoga, that any form of action can lead to enslavement through Maya; therefore it is better to abandon all forms of action altogether. Maybe that is not really fully realisable. My own take is that we are all in one way or other bound by maya in whatever we do. (Lord Krishna expounds this concept in chapter 18 of the Sree Bhagavad Gita.) So without engaging in the most compulsive way in actions that are inspired by personal greed in our everyday life, we can lead our lives. The judge of our actions is Lord Krishna and it is best left up to him. Jai Shree Krishna! Om tat sat!

@@mousuminandi8204 Hare Krishna Mousumiji, Pranams. I am glad and grateful that you are asking for a follow-up so I can further clarify. If you see comment for which I replied, one who made the comment defended meat eating saying we are omnivores according to science so there is nothing wrong in eating meat. So, I placed a counter saying, all other omnivore mammals can eat both veggies and meat raw however humans cannot eat meat raw, rather even under cooked meat has lead to so many deaths in India. Just google for yourself - "deaths due to undercooked meat in India". So the bottomline of my argument is just because science says we are omnivore mammals we are not same as other omnivore mammals. Be it vegetables or meat, we need them to be cooked for our stomach acid is not made for such diet. Though there are people who remain healthy eating just a raw vegetarian diet. Also consider a small kitten, if there is a mango and a small mice before it, what it would be eager to eat. If you walk in and find a kitten eating on a mice, will you be surprised. However, if you keep mango and a mice before a small baby, which one. will it grab to eat, and will you be ok walking into room seeing a baby eating the mice, you will find it odd. so we are not just any omnivore mammal like cats, dogs, monkeys. Science has a very materialistic, bodily concept of categorization. They don't consider the difference in consciousness and ability to exercise the freewill available for the humans over animals. Its very unfortunate that in the name of science and advancement, we are happy to identify ourselves with animals and are unable to recognize the special ability to make spiritual advancement in human form of life. Hope this clarifies, and feel free to express your thoughts, doubts or questions. Hare Krishna Jai Srila Prabhupada.

What's the point in comparing man to a tiger when he apparently does not have a degree in biology? There are many animals humans can kill with their own hands and feast upon? So does that make it okay for me to eat an armadillo? And he keeps talking about the consciousness, isn't our intelligence and social structure not the only reason we've ever been able to kill and eat bigger animals? Many primates which have teeth exactly like us also eat meat in the wild, so he's wrong about our teeth being built for vegetables. Besides, a pure vegetarian diet can in no way give you vitamin b12, is he going to say it's healthy to live that way?
@thirdeyeblind38 ай бұрын
you cannot just bite into a armadillo and eat it, but you can eat many fruits and veggies and milk products and have enough b12. if we have intelligence enough to dominate and eat all animals then we should get enough compassion to not do that. If we want to stay on the same animalistic consciousness then like Prabhupada is saying we can go back down into similar animalistic bodily experiences. If we manage to raise the consciousness then we can participate in higher planes of existence.
@1245aryan8 ай бұрын
@@thirdeyeblind3 Yes but I can use a knife to carve up that armadillo just the way a vegetarian would do with a vegetable or fruit. Plants just do not have the vitamin b12 to the extent that a non-specialised, every-day diet would fulfill your body's requirement. Oh yes you're being real compassionate to that cow when you tie it up in your yard and extract all the milk which was meant for the calf. Why does our intelligence also have to accompany compassion? And why does this compassion of yours not extend to plants? are they any lesser than animals in your grand scheme? What do you mean by animalistic consciousness? Could you please be more clear?

food is not just for the upkeep of the body it also affects your consciousness. Voluntary violence numbs your consciousness.
