The umbilical cord is wrapped around the baby awkwardly causing mom to carry the baby by the tail. Starting 28:23-31:30 if you look closely, you can see the cord is wrapped around the baby's arm and thigh. Mom has to figure that out so she can place baby on her chest.

Reminds me of Betsy, she was always so independent and did not stay at the milk bar. Bossy was always having to hold her back because she wanted to explore. She rarely was at the milk bar and just stayed there long enough to get a bit of nourishment. She weaned very quickly, actually, she weaned herself. I have never seen a monkey do that before. Unfortunately, she was killed by a speeding car.

When the mom has milk and the baby is hungry, it's sad when the mother doesn't allow her baby to nurse. Milk doesn't stay in the stomach long so hunger hits often and macaque monkeys don't start getting jaw teeth until about 7 months old so until then they need milk often and soft foods would help. It's rare if a mom shares a few bites of what she's eating with her baby.
