Why NOBODY Plays Punisher in Marvel Snap

Join me as I break down why Punisher is one of the worst and least-played cards in Marvel Snap! Please note that I filmed this before the recent change to Thanos' Mind Stone in the most recent OTA update. My notes about Mobius still mostly apply, so I'll leave that section in the video.

I feel like that combined power effect would be too overpowered for a series 1 but it’s a great card idea if Punisher was Series 3 or 4.

I would be very curious to see a deck that would make him shine, but maybe that's not possible given how much is stacked against him to make him suboptimal.

That Punisher rework for afflicted power is really interesting, although it does raise a question. How does it interact with Man Thing? With Knull Destroy effects are conclusively resolved, whereas his effect is Ongoing. If they insist on keeping his effect, he should be 3-1 with +2. That way he works in Ravonna Goblin decks.

Hey, thanks for the comment! Man-Thing never crossed my mind when I came up with the idea, but I think his damage would count towards Punisher's Ongoing effect. Things get tricky if you involve Luke Cage; I'm thinking that if an opponent plays him, he would prevent Punisher from gaining more points after Luke hits the board, but he wouldn't negate all the damage that came before that point. It probably isn't a perfect suggestion, but I wanted to give Punisher some kind of synergy with cards that deal damage. I really like your suggestion as the Goblins have natural synergy with Punisher. Hopefully Second Dinner gives the card the love it deserves someday.

I don’t think it would be too broken if he counted all “possible” damage. Even if Luke cage is on the board, it would mean that punisher would have the exact same counters as knull. The only difference is that Luke cage counters the rest of your deck, whereas armor counters knulls deck

I think this all depends on High Evo Abom; if it still counts for their discount it should work otherwise it'll be inconsistent game logic

I really like that 5/0 rework. Debuff decks currently only have abomination as a “finisher” and he is a bad one as 9 power isn’t all that great for a win condition. I think that rework could take cards like hazard, man-thing, and the high evo package to make a never before seen deck! It’s such a cool idea
