People have been trying to break us JT and JB since ‘21. Beloved after his rookie run, sure. But then in ‘19 he failed to make “the jump” and it’s been downhill since. He had an incredible run in ‘22 before running out of gas and dealing with injuries in the finals yet people hold the finals against him despite the fact that he hard carried the team there. In ‘21 he was pretty much the only uninjured Celtic and put up 50 4 times in a month to close out the season with his supporting cast being the ghost of Kemba, Tristan Thompson, Romeo Langford, Evan Fournier, and Marcus Smart (good but just a role player). If he doesn’t sprain his ankle last year they probably complete the 0-3 comeback. This year teams have sold out on defending him more than ever before despite having his best roster because they fear him that much. I know he’s shooting badly in the finals but his defense, rebounding, and playmaking have been elite and he’s regularly collapsing the defense to kickstart our offense. And yet he’s constantly shit on because he had a bad finals series and the narrative makes people feel good about hating Boston.

Tatum is struggling from the field. However he is still rebounding making great passes and defending at a high level. He does get double and triple teamed. Every time he has the ball. The offense is running through him. This is the best team he's been on in 2022. The Celtics didn't have a true point guard like Jrue holiday. Marcus smart was a great defender but a poor ball handler and shooter. Tatum will erupt in one or both of these games in Dallas.

Like Game 7 last year, why do players like Curry in 2016 or Luka now get a pass when they are hurt yet Tatum clearly was hurt after the first play of that game and it’s his fault. He is having the same growing pains Lebron had before 2012, that Kobe had while playing with Shaq, but no one questions them now. The same people that question him also said his team isn’t as good as their record says because they play in the East yet now they carry him.

The whole starting 5 see's doubles or triples on drives against the mavs. Tatum is the point forward, so of course he would see more if he's driving. Tatum is not getting prime Lebron treatment or even the treatment nets KD got vs the celtics a few years ago. Even in the pacers series, he was seeing regular star coverage, the same coverage JB saw. Tatum led most stats in the pacers series, but people that watched the series clear as day could see that JB had a bigger impact.
