Yes! They nailed what it's like for everyone in their twenties. It gets a lot better in your forties, though. At least, for me and everyone I know. It's the place where you realize that you're both special and not special, and that's just fine. Plus, after adulting for 20+ years, you have the experience to know that you really can handle life, both the wonderful and the shitty. You just go on with your bad selves, millenials. You're rock stars, growing up in the culture we're in. ETA: Jessica made a good point, in that perhaps it's not *everyone* in their twenties. I was basing it off of my own experience, and those of my friends back then. I argue that it's not an invention out of sheer boredom - I mean, I was dealing with some real shit back then, yet all these questions came up. Just happened naturally, at the same time as the real problems.

kateknowsnothing - continually marching towards irrelevance, there isn't a thing in this world we don't want to fix. Yet there isn't enough time. Its all useless. All the skills I have are used by someone else, a self serving someone, to further perpetuate endless suffering in the name of greed. worse still they are nameless and faceless. if I work towards some kind of real change, the crippling weight of the ever rising cost of living will drag me to the bottom. Beyond that, endless ridicule , even hatred by the old jaded shits who gave up on trying to save anyone but themselves a long ass time ago. on one hand I serve myself and selfishly work for money, or I serve myself and work to change the world... it all seems selfish - i really do want to sleep the days away. every dime I pay in taxes goes to kill a person. every product i buy further exploits those unlucky enough to not be born wealthy. it gets better? no - the idea that anyone can live with themselves in the USA is simply ignorance or numbness.

For the longest time, you think *"it's gotta just be me, right?"* Then... you maybe get _uncomfortably_ honest with some people in conversation, be it friends, maybe that odd semi-distant family member that you can actually _kind of_ talk to, or just some stranger at a bar who's also trying to drown the same feeling but won't actually admit it until somebody brings it up - that kind of bizarre interaction two strangers can have when they know that they can actually open up about something trivial or deep and the honesty is okay because they never worry about judgment because they never actually have to see each other again after they discuss it, and if they do in passing, _it's just that._ Then you stumble across across a cartoon video series... on a comedy channel... that perfectly sums up exactly that feeling... and as you start reading the comments, you just sit there thinking _"holy. fucking. shit."_ And it *isn't* *just* *you.* ...... This series couldn't have come at a better time. And fuck nostalgia.

I saw this years ago around when it first came out. I was 22 and struggling in my 5th year of college pursuing a liberal arts degree. My family had just gotten done interrogating me about what I was going to do with my life, truth be told I had no clue and I'm pretty sure that they sensed that, it was very embarrassing ...at 26 things are going well for me now, but gotta love how fate or the algorithm tugs on the ole heartstrings by randomly recommending an old one like this. I'd like to think the universe sent me this video to leave words of encouragement for someone whos searching to see so here it is If you're in a tough spot just know that no matter what you do, your highest highs and lowest lows are still ahead of you. Being down on yourself and indecisive when things aren't going well won't do anything for you. Try new things and think different. Things that worked for me were waking up at 5am for exercise, reading, and Googling "____jobs for people with _____ certifications". -

@niklashansen54327 жыл бұрын
I really like the way you framed that (punny-pun-pun). In a way, you can equate that to social media where you also also put up a frame while looking at other peoples frames. Both in nostalgia and social media, your frame consists of the selected good parts whether it is a conscious choice or a selective view. Neither is something you should aspire too. But neither is inherently bad or good either. Both nostalgia and social media can serve a purpose if used for its prober purpose - seeing what made you and what now defines you. All of it affects you and the person you are today. I´d like to see a follow up video on that topic from People Watching. Thoughts?

Loved the whole series! (this is coming from a 14 year old who has no experience in adult life) I honestly can't wait for a second season (maybe even a third, but ONLY if adding that extra season doesn't deteriorate from this Amazing series) The internet needs more of this stuff. It really does.

I'm so very grateful for these little cartoons. I just graduated high school, moving across the country for college, and there's nothing I fear more than failure, and wasting my youth. A friend of mine died last week, someone I've known throughout high school. I've been isolated, and alone with my own self destructive thoughts. My thoughts often betray me, I think about some really awful things. I feel guilty that the death of my friend is what it took to purge suicidal thoughts from my mind. But having something so honest, so comforting in the fact that it isn't promising a miracle cure really helped me feel better about myself. I don't think anyone will necessarily read this, but I just had to put it out there that this series has really, profoundly uplifted me.

@neonfroot27 күн бұрын
Teen angst and waurter life crisis are the same. People think teens snd twenties are different just because of the legal treatment but it's not. Very few people manage to become different in their twenties compared to their teens. In fact, part of why growing up sucks is because society for the past two centuries has infantilised young people.

Nostalgia is bullcrap. You only see things how your mind wants to interpret them. What you thought as a great experience, was in fact not so great after all, sometimes. Nostalgia can be broken by a remake or reboot. It can prevent the future from happening. Just because you want to keep things the way they were. And when someone does go to change that, you get upset with them, especially when they ruin it. There is nothing from 2000, 2010, and 2020 +, that I can say I want to remember. As far as I'm concerned, nothing eventful ever happened. I can't honestly remember anything I did a week ago. You asked me one thing that happened a decade ago that I can remember with full detail, I can't give you one thing. If you only live in the past, you're already dead. If you only live for the future, you're not living in the present. If you're living for the present, it's already left, by the mere thought of trying to think of it.

Very true, perfect example is I found my old toys I played with as a kid. I remember the nostalgia playing with them...then looked at them and realized how shitty they look.
@neonfroot27 күн бұрын
The problem with nostalgia is that it makes people more intolerant of newer generations. It makes people exaggerate any flaws or slights of their juniors. Look at how Millennials treat Gen Z and Gen Alpha

This is a gem of animation. As much as I want more... I don't want this to ever have the possibility to lose its genuine dialogue, deep and real perspectives, and wholesome and honest personality. This is true beauty, raw and unfiltered.

4:57 I and many others don't want the world to go back to how it was, we are trying to change it by saying "Never More" to the way of life of those who came before us and with their brokenness attempted to corrupt what humanity we had left.
@oOoCassandraSteeloOo7 жыл бұрын
I'm not obsessed with nostalgia; I'm sick of people saying how everything is getting worse and worse and pretending that putting an effort into anything is worthless because of it. I get that people seem to be nostalgic all the time because they forgot the bad things from the past and were much younger, maybe even too young to understand the bad things. But damn, stop making remakes, reboots, prequels, sequels etc.; bringing back the past won't do shit. Allow yourself to care about the future in a positive way. I mean, goddammit, you can't wait for someone else to do it for you.
@bacht47997 жыл бұрын
Cassandra Steel totally agree my words again life is NOW not yesterday or the future not because we not should learn from past or get ready for the future but we should stop sitting with us Nirvana cd and Star Wars DVD and say " this is only things there matter make it back to this " no thanks let's sometimes else take over now and then and MOVE ON that's would be nice please 😃😊😎
@ShaunDreclin7 жыл бұрын
Cassandra Steel sometimes bringing back things from the past flops, sometimes it doesn't. there are some stories you can tell a hundred times and they will still be great. 30 years from now I bet we will be seeing new lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, avengers, etc remakes.

Pretty sure it was the episode with the male and female "just friends" talking about how they met. Then when they go back to the same cafe later in life, their waiter is the red headed bearded guy, with the same tatoos.

The other half resonates more with those who have already dipped their toes in adulthood and have had some hardship. It's easy to look back and yearn for the time where you were still a kid, having no worries other than have you done your homework yet. But at the same time, you realize how much more you have now than what you had back then. And sometimes that makes you value who you are now even more .
@neonfroot27 күн бұрын
@@RVBMichaelJCaboose Kids can experience hardship too you know. We need to stop assuming that kids don't experience any difficulties in life just because they're not allowed to work or pay bills. And I think most of the struggles of adulthood are due to postmodern society infantilising young people.
@RVBMichaelJCaboose27 күн бұрын
@@neonfroot not saying they don't and maybe looking back and realizing that what I experienced as a kid wasn't that big a deal does trivialize what I went through. to completely separate the parents from being perpetrators, society in places like schools or playgrounds can definitely be a source of hardship because of stigma from your peers. Still, I think that if one is able to see the bigger picture once they come of age, saying that shit wasn't that tough as a kid shows how much they've grown as they have a better handle on contemporary bullshit. Time moves in one direction and we can't always focus on then. that's why, i think, adults would tell kids it isn't so bad because they want to instill the hope that things will get better for the kids.

I'm pretty sure a big theme of this series is that pretty much nobody has this whole life thing figured out, but get better at masking that, especially from themselves, as time goes on. And how it's important to continue on with what you have to do to live and thrive despite that. Existentialism isn't exclusive to the young, or else we wouldn't even have common understanding of terms like mid-life crisis.

Thank you! Something that has an optimistic look to the future instead of the same bullshit of being stuck in nostalgia.Nostalgia is great at times when I need it, like me leaving my first apartment of 7 years and making the letting go process easier. But im so tired of the constant bitching about the past (typically the 50s or 80s/90s) being so much better and how today is basically the end times. It's not, im from the 90's and while times were great and carefree, doesn't take away from today either though...not always great but no period in time is, and people need to stop acting like that isn't the case. I became a Marine in 2010 and from there life just became this journey. My memories of the 90s is a cozy one playing video games with cousins and family (mario64 etc), enjoying what most other 90s kids did. But you're out of your fucking mind if you think id stay stuck in the 90s nostalgia of childhood, and never joining the corps. Man the 2010s were crazy, basically a story of a kid leaving home and never looking back. Been out 6 years and i will say that my time in the corps will always overtake my 90s nostalgia. Not because the 2010s were this objectively better time but because I made them so :)
