This does happen right after the massive explosion so a person escaping isn't totally unreasonable. He baited him to try to get him to talk. When Hans says he's Clay, McClain sees Clay is from the 29th floor, who he knows won't be there per the security guard. He gives Hans an empty gun to control the way he's attacked. Hans falls for it and gives McClain a reason to kill him. If I recall correctly, McClain doesn't try to kill anyone until he's attacked by them. He has that line of morality that he doesn't cross. The empty gun gives him the chance to find out who Clay really is and the opportunity to kill another thought terrorist.

I don't get it, your implying that only rich people can laugh to this show?
