Years ago I went camping in the Amazon rainforest (Madidi National Park) during the rainy season when the ground is most saturated. Laying in a tent while hearing the occasional crashing of massive trees in the distance brought some unpleasant thoughts to my mind. Pancakes, hydraulic presses, steamrollers, trash compactors... thoughts that didn't help me sleep.

If you look in the south of Chile where all the trees are located you will see trees that have lost their TOPS. The winds here are strong. The native trees here are very brittle and they lose their canopies. So in the woods is not a good thing, Jim

If a tree falls in the woods, does anyone hear it? They do in Los Lagos ;)

And it was loud too! The funny thing is how many Teenage boys would be attentive enough to hear it like Thomas did ! Jim
