Yes, definitely the right time while there are still a few around in decent condition. They are deteriorating: you see some pretty shabby examples on the road. Neglected, really, but still redeemable. It's not a sports car but it drives nicely and has a solid feel. Mine's a 180 BHP FWD cheap version and quite fast enough to lose your licence. The interior is well screwed together and comfortable. It is, of course, mainly about the unique and lovely looks, so don't be tempted to mess about with it with after market "mods". Originality is everything with an 8N.
@TheParrottBros4 жыл бұрын
Very well said, your right there is still a small amount of well looked after cars, a small amount of salvageable good cars that require moderate tlc, then there is the 7-10 owner, sub £1k cars that cost more to maintain yearly than they are worth. While I love the originality of the TT 8n I am adding a few alterations to enhance the performance and handling for what I’d like to use it for. Exterior wise I will keep it looking original. Thanks for your comment
@quietenglishman41794 жыл бұрын
@@TheParrottBros Your promotion of this special car is important and comes at just the right time. In fact, just in time as the number of decent examples diminishes. The original TT holds such a special place in the history of car design, it needs a strong following. We're not talking about modifying old Fiestas or Corsas which are good enough cars but hardly special. Of course, you're right: at the moment maintenance, tax and insurance (for younger people) do make TT ownership very expensive. I recently paid £500 to have the cambelt changed, for example. Keep up the good work.

Just bought an 02 quattro roadster with baseball glove interior for $1700 USD about a week ago. It has 200k miles the interior was trashed and already have another set of seats for it and it has some electrical issues I'm currently trying to work out. It just needs some TLC, the prices are going up on them here in the states. I was finding them wrecked for over $3000. A guy I know has 3 of them and he paid $2000usd for one one that the people lost the key and car was left outside for 3 years with the windows half down and not running. I remember a time pre pandemic where you could get TTs for REAL cheap out here. You could get some choice ones for under 7k. Rn it’s seems they’ve kinda inflated but I bet part of that is just how the used car market has kinda increased in price overall.
@TheParrottBros3 жыл бұрын
Yeah for sure, the whole used car market is at an all time high as there is simply a shortage of cars, the TT's were on there way up price wise anyway as they hit there low and now the older ones that need too much work are being broken for parts, i would say if your still looking i would get one sooner rather than later

Dude I love my TT. But if you buy a real lemon the repair bill can go to 5k before you know it. Clutch kit is more expensive than the 911, 600-700 for the full parts kit only. Turbo and mani may be cracked, auxilliaries, sensors etc some are expensive, 500-1000 for decent shocks and springs if they are knackered, plus about 300-400 per month for 98 fuel. None of the above would you buy used from the facebook group. Lovely car but certainly not cheap to keep in top shape. And you need at least 150 quid to fix these rear doors in the back seats to close properly :p
@TheParrottBros4 жыл бұрын
They are great, however you are right if you don’t check that has the right service history and it hasn’t been loved then there is a good possibility you could buy a car that needs a lot more work than the value of the vehicle, This Nogaro blue one is exactly that, I will spend at least twice the value of the vehicle making it back to a good working order, that being said I have met loads of TT owners who have had to spend very little and have had their cars for long time. When your buying a Tt it’s important to check the service history, make sure it’s had all the relevant maintenance and repairs.

The Parrott Bro’s can imagine them being rather different, I was never huge on the backend looking the same as the front end of the tt but I must admit kind of like a tumour they grow on ya 😂, I hear they don’t do to badly on fuel? It is a tough call as the 1.8 T is great for tuning potential however the 3.2 V6 sounds unbelievable, I guess it’s a slimmer choice of availability as well as the price being a lot higher?
