In this video, I am answering the following questions:
1 why is black wrong for her?
2 what neutral can she wear instead?
3 what does black do to her color type compared to the suggested neutral color?
This analysis is conducted according to my science-based Ray Color Analysis method.

Thank you so much for your scientific approach to best color application. I find it so interesting yet somewhat challenging to comprehend. Would you possibly film a self color analysis? I look forward to becoming a client❤️

Yes, I can release a self analysis. I feel you that it is challenging to comprehend. You're not alone. It took more than a decade for me to develop this system that would be accurate, inclusive, highly personalized, and based in science.

I think that's why I like black sooo much. My hair is so dark brown and neutral that it's like, an instant facelift for me and with my gray eyes too black just frames everything and brings you right into focus on me, my face, and my eyes. Which a persons hair color choice should be doing if it's right. I wish I could wear brown though. It'd open me up to a lot more neutrals. My navy needs to be very particular too. But some stone grays are nice for a neutral for me with enough yellow to not hurtle it to warm, not too light either or it washes me out, can't be too cool to hurtle it to the majorly cool side either. I can only wear very particular grays. Which, funny enough, when I chose my car color it is a specific chalk gray with black rims and I naturally gravitate to those neutrals in clothes, makeup, and yes, automobiles too lol, it just took me years to realize why I subconsciously choose things like that. It mimics ME and my colors. Guess that's a whole level of extra choosing your car to mimic your color analysis.😂

Hi Ella! Is the blue effect only outdoors or should blue root skin colors also avoid blue sweaters indoors during winter?
@ellaraystyle
@ellaraystyle 3 ай бұрын
that depends on the Sub Root Skin Color, chroma, and depth of the skin tone as well as the blue color hue, chroma, and depth. The effect can happen both outside and inside depending on your type. For example, dark skin tones struggle with this effect much more than lighter skin tones within the Orange Root Skin Color Family (Blue). This effect happens with clothing colors and blue/cool lighting temperature, and for some types with natural light as well.

0:15 is true...once I said my friend that black don't suit everybody and she was denying...that myth needs to die. Black is one of that colirs that is bot flattering for me,but since is everywhere,I use it😢.

Her natural hair color, you can see on the very roots seems to react partially similarly to lighting like mine does. This seems like the photo is taken on a rather cloudy day (but with a lighter grey sky), might be wrong, but it looks like that to me. The hair color looks softened and lighter, more "transparent" due to her hair being on the finer side. These are assumptions of mine, really, of course I've never seen her in person. But my hair does a similar thing. The color goes softer, looks lighter or... really just more pale actually. If I am in the shades or indoor lighting, my haircolor looks way more rich, more intense, and darker. I bet it's the same in her case. That's why indoors I can look like I border high contrast, but in outdoor lighting, you can clearly see, I am definitely NOT high contrast. And that's a very important factor when it comes to choosing colors and color combinations. In certain outdoor lighting, my hair color can actually even look brighter, more dense, more intense, but it's a VERY specific setting being needed to achieve this "interaction". And in that specific setting, my eyes and skin will look more bright and the overall contrast (both in value and hue) will look more intense as well. That's to me the most flattering lighting I could ever be in. And the one I prefer for myself. It enhances the warmth in my overall coloring, enhances really just everything about me and interacts with my coloring like a very flattering filter, giving me the opportunity to wear colors that also enhance what the lighting enhances, whithout overpowering any of my features. That's also the lighting that makes me feel most energetic and happy. Which is why I chose all warm lighting for my apartment.

I believe black is a natural COLOR SOFTENER so the color itself has a tendency to look nice on someone with some SOFTNESS about them. The color can also look HARDER on someone with MORE CONTRAST about them. And finally, the color will look too dark and HEAVY around the face on BLENDED and really LIGHTER complexions.

Uhul. I LOVE brown. I realized that I look really good in it, and also in purple. I think those are the colors that look best on me. But I also look good with green and blue. I thought I had "cold skin", but I realized that I have very yellow skin (I'm white and I'm from Brazil). Also, I look good in shades of orange, but red and yellow look horrible. I've never liked the cold skin/warm skin theory, because there are so many variations, like what I said myself. Even if the colors are cold or warm, there are huge palettes, as well as the contrast, the intensity of the color and many other things that I can't remember now. Anyway.

What other alternatives would you recommend for someone who finds that black washes them out, but equally hates the colour brown?

this explains it why you hate brown. This is a general recommendation: Warm greys and taupes would be an alternative. Here it will matter a lot what chroma, depth, and contrast you have to find the right shades.

I used to wear almost all black for years and years and I thought it looked great on me, but after starting to wear lighter and clearer colours that suit my skin better I’ve realised how wrong this illusion of black being a classic colour was for me. Every time I try to wear all black now I look dragged down and tired. It really does nothing for me.

@@ellaraystyle I don't. I am used to the 16 seasons, so I roughly fall into Soft Autumn on that system. I am sort of warm, but not extremely warm toned.

This is too generic, so the colors that you get recommended by the seasonal analysis can only be generic and are off every time. You will also never see the full spectrum of your best colors because they focus so much on warm vs cool colors - which scientifically speaking is a big mistake. If you are monochromatic (brown hair + brown eyes), you might not see the dissonance because you can wear many more colors compared to other color types. But if you have different colors in your hair, eyes, and skin (for example, brown hair + blue eyes) you will see the dissonance with seasonal colors much more. You will never feel home in your skin. The seasonal analysis is not based on science which is why a lot of mistakes are being done, unfortunately (aside from the system being outdated, flawed, and exclusive). My system is based on science to avoid any mistakes and have the highest accuracy and personalization to not leave anyone behind.
