I have had succes’s with a “cage” around my hive openings. The mesh is just big enough to allow the bees in and out. The queen needs to be in the hive already and the mesh needs to put up at night. The a much langer cage around the whole hive, so that the bees have a decent chance of flyingeniør off and not being attacked as they leave or enter the hive.

My hives entry faces my fence. This means they fly high from the outset so my neighbours don't even know I keep them... I only wear a hat with veil as I flinch when they investigate my ears. I've never been stung, so far 😊 Hearing them is the wings managing the temperature. I might consider some shade when in the final position. A fascinating hobby and great for kids. They communicate by dance 😋

Being in Chile in a rural area like in Portugal I’m sure bees are everywhere but last Spring I was washing the dishes and heard a sound I never heard before…you guessed it a swarm of bees about 400 meters away…yes the sound is that loud. I went to investigate and saw them everywhere in the flowering aromo trees. I’m not set up for bees so it was quite interesting to see them there and the next day they were all gone. Nature is absolutely magical when you take time to observe it. Well done Trixie with your Portuguese… sad to hear her school bee was “sleeping”. Can’t wait to see your finished barn and the children settled in each of their room. What an epic moment that will be for all of you. Would like to see more of your mom and her partner working the land :). Have a fantastic week friends…enjoy the Spring…everything looks so beautiful and green. Will you be getting some chickens soon?

You guys are so brave! I love bees from a distance 😂 I would never harm one that’s for sure and I make sure I have flowers in my garden and will leave dandelions for them too but if I hear one or one comes close I absolutely poop my pants, scream and run 😂 It’s a childhood fear I cannot shift! So watching this I was having a slight panic attack but it complete awe of your awesomeness and how they were cleaning out the hives 😮 so amazing! Well done to yous and the bees 🐝

A scary episode for me who was chased down and stung by a bee earlier this year. I went into anaphylactic shock and an ambulance ride and two nights in hospital later I was fine. All of this drama on our 45th wedding anniversary! My advice is to respect their space…..Fortunately most people are fine but definitely get a bee suit or two.
@ginkodragon4 ай бұрын
When you are allergic to bee stings, bees are scary, but I am not and love to pet their wings as they feed on the juices of fallen fruit! FYI, I don't know if you have them there, but some bees are more aggressive than others. We were chased once by wild bees as we were picking wild berries, and there are African iced bees that are very aggressive!

As you say, never a dull moment! Nature doesn’t really care about anybody else’s time table. Hopefully y your next video you have managed to find a bee expert near you who can offer guidance in their upkeep. The house understandably had to take a back seat once the bees arrived. So near to the end. It’s all looking good. As to the mess, a messy home is a happy home! You can’t have 3 children and a perfectly tidy house. It’s just not possible, plus you are at present quite literally living on a building site! Once the barn make over is completed then is the time to start clearing up and being tidy. ❤

Your house is looking so good! It is so cool that you are eating your meals in your barn house now! Im anxious to see your cute kids bed down in their own rooms! You have been rasing them right! They are absolute gems! You guys are so funny aboutprocedure to be: 1. One hour before dark start out by smoking the bees that may be bearding to get them back in the hive 2. Close up bees entrance with a rag and duct tape 3. Use a frost cloth on bees, if needed to net the whole hive 4. For light, use a red light in the dark as bees cannot see red 5. Move bees to new location 6. Put sugar water in the internal hive feeder 7. Leave in beehive for 1 to 3 days, this seems to reboot the hives orientation 8. Put a branch/grass in front of hive entrance to tell bees they are in a new location the bees. Bees are good for the farm. But to move the hive, the procedure should be: 1. Lovely episode! Your instinct serves you well, you can tell an enormous amount about your hive by the sound the colony makes. It was one of the first things I was taught about beekeeping. Being gentle with bees, as though visiting a friend’s house is also key, as they can be guided in their response to you, by how you approach them. Good luck and here’s to a good natured Queen Bee some gorgeous honey soon!

Are you using the Waterdrop to fill the ice cube trays? Lol. I used to have a notepad that would have been perfect for you. Unfortunately, I used it all. It said, across the top, "Dumb Things I Gotta Do Today!" It's definitely for the woman who has too many things on her list, and not enough hours in the day to get it done. Crikey! It's an invasion! Moving bee hives is the kind of job that requires more bravery than I have. You are both admirable. Nuts, but admirable! Clutching 10,000 bees to my chest and running around in the dark seems like an insane plan. Of course, I'm night blind. That would be a plan doomed to failure. Good luck on bee keeping! I wish you every success. Blessed Be ( or bee)!
@ew1hoastesned4 ай бұрын
So nice that so many bees flew to you, they have chosen the place with you dear people. I have an idea, couldn't you drape a large net over the two apiaries to keep the hornets away, where the meshes are so small that only the bees can get in, but not the larger hornets??? However, I am not a bee connoisseur. I wish you good luck and dear Kayla, you don't have to apologise for the alleged mess, I beg you, as hard as you toil, there is something left behind, completely normal, I think your home is so beautiful, and from week to week more and more beautiful. Good luck and continue Toi,toi,toi. Elke Weiß will stay healthy until next week...
