I have one of these and I LOVE him! He's got so much personality, and he's always so exited to see me lol. He's with 4 blood parrots and one platinum parrot and it's the cutest bunch of fish ever. They all get along, just occasional little squabbles but even those are adorable lol.

I had one polar blue cichlid and finally found another and put the new one in with my other one. Literally 24 hours later they had dug out a hole underneath an overturned flowerpot and were ferociously guarding it. I verified there were eggs in there and within a the week the babies hatched. It’s without a doubt the quickest and easiest breeding of any fish I’ve ever seen. They are also extremely fun and personable fish.

I have a blue polar parrot fish last month its so small when i bought it and now its literally big and it recognizes me like when i come closer to her tank it come out of its hiding spot and wiggles but when other people come to the tank it stays hidden in its hiding spot and i just think its sweet :)

I had to put my lil male blue polar in my community freshwater 30 gal my 75 gal cichlid tank they beat on him so bad his fins wear tore off ,I found out they truly don't get that big ither idk but he seems to do fine with my corys ,loach ,two zebra danios 4 creek minnows two PARIDISE gourmis ,two Betta ,two guppies an they all get along it's crazy

I have one of these growing some sorta bump on his head. I know some fish like flower horns can grow a head bump but I haven't seen any convicts with this. Is this because hes sick or is it something else?

Convict males develop these bumps or nuchal humps. It's just fatty tissue that develops on mature or larger 3-3.5 inch fish.

it says that they can be with tetras, but theyre chasing them so ive removed my tetras. They were with my danios ive observed them and theyre not chasing my danios even if they will swim infront of them, the next morning i saw one danio floating and saw that they bit his head off poor fish.

General consensus is 3.5"-4", however, they are a hybrid of a hybrid, so there is going to be some difference. I've seen blood parrots max out at 5" but also get bigger than 8" for example.

I am breeding two pairs each pair in a 20 gallon and even with their babies there's still enough room. Very soon I'm going to be transferring the babies into a 10 gallon grow out tank to move them along into their own 20 tank at some point but right now in a 20 gallon works fine

When they start laying eggs and the babies hatch you get around I would say a hundred, very difficult to count 😊 but there's always some lost and one of my couple it's probably left with about 30 to 40 babies 😁

So I have heard two different stories about how they came about. First story is it's a hybrid cross of a male convict and female parrot. The other story is that it's not a hybrid and simply just a deformed short convict cichlid. So which is true? I'm leaning more toward it being a hybrid.

My male polar blue paired up with a female Honduran red point, the result is perfect Honduran Red point babies as the short bodied gene is recessive. I lean towards the short bodied convict and Honduran Red point hybrid explanation, my polar blue has all the colouring of a male Honduran red point shades of blue but a lovely red tail fin.

These aren't part parrot. They are short body convict/hrp. Real parrot convict crosses look like big brownish chunky convicts. Males are also sterile. Some do fade though.
