Growing up in the 80's oxtails, chicken and turkey necks and chicken feet was very cheap. My mom (RIP) only bought oxtails and chicken feet on special occasions back then. Oxtails was around 89 cents a pound and after I moved out and got my own place in the 90's, it was around $1.89 to $.199 a pound depending on where purchased. Nowadays I can't afford to buy oxtails unless it's on sale and even then it is too expensive. For me I would have to buy and make it for a special occasions. Thanks David for another great video.

Hey David. To think what was once considered scraps is now costing an arm & a leg. I’m like 😮 when I see the price of chicken wings in the store. Lawd all I want is the gravy over rice and peas 🙌🏼😂. I don’t eat oxtail. Love the flavor of the gravy. The fella at Gaucho ranch very informative. How are you at Myrtle’s eating the oxtail with no rice n peas? And the next spot too ? True David. If the taste and flavor is there, folks will pay. But less. My husband used to eat oxtail bout 1 a week. Now it’s every now and then. Thanks David. It’s a worldwide issue the cost. 💲

Good one David. Oxtail is expensive here in Toronto as well. The fresh cut oxtail is much more expensive than the frozen. Thank goodness, I don't eat meat anymore. All those dishes looked so scrumptious, though. It's rice and beans; red beans/kidney beans are beans. Peas are different types of vegetables. Anyway, it's true that some oxtail lovers will pay the price no matter what it is , but it better taste good. Happy to see Trinidad featured too. It's the seasonings and spices that make the difference. Glad you enjoyed all of them.😋❤

Without watching im gonna say because it has skyrocketed in popularity. Its an off cut so there is really no reason for the price to go up unless demand is outstripping supply (which i would find hard to believe).

I am a Jamaican but I blame us Jamaicans for the price of oxtail to be so high. I know that oxtails sell and cook around the world but you never hear or see any other country/Island people posting about oxtails like Jamaicans we do that because of how we cook oxtails is soooo delicious and most people don’t matter where they come from the way we Jamaicans talk about it makes people want to try it and when they do they too enjoy it and post it as well and next thing so much people want to buy and try to cook it like us that’s why the price keeps going up because it’s in demand so yes I blame us 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲😀😀

@@Davidsbeenhere if you ever get a chance to try a burger that is made from ground oxtail, i highly recommend it - the flavor is amazing you can also grind your own oxtail burger at home if you have a dedicated grinder or a grinder attachment for a stand mixer (i.e. kitchenaid)

In this video he talks about the price of Ox tail,And I agree, the price of ox tail has gotten through the roof, and when he went to a restaurant that had it on the menu, it was very expensive, same thing here in the Bronx, downstairs they want 21 bucks for 3 pieces, across the street same thing, so I decided forget it,like buying ham hocks, pigs feet same thing, besides you can't eat the bones, the saturated fat is no good for your body, so I decided that whatever I want to eat, it's much better to stay away from these things, but I have many different options it's not like I am going starving or hungry, money isn't a issue or problem, and I don't even like FILET MIGNON,just a nice steak, pork chops, chicken thighs, wings, stuff like that.
