Well my friend, if you didnt know, in the late 1700s (1797) when the Spain still controlled Trinidad and was under treat of a british invasion, the Spanish governor (Chacon) invited all the catholic planters from the other islands to come settle with their slaves in Trinidad with a promise of free land. The majority of the caribbean islands at that time were french speaking, so the names and culture were the same. The main language in Trinidad at that period with the influx of those many peoples was french or french patois up until the 1960s. that is why we Trinis also call avocado zaboka. @@stillirise7813 I have. Most Africans think Jamaican food is bland. I think it's because they don't use much salt.

Not just the embassy though, some unpatriotic Trinis say it too.

Thank you for coming to Trinidad 🇹🇹🇹🇹 and showcasing our melting pot of culture, people and cuisine. This video was highly anticipated indeed. Mark you have to come back...so many more to try like the local sweets like kurma, fudge, sugarcake; stew fish & chicken....a Sunday themed menu...too much to type here. The warmest of our Trinbagonian culture came through in this video. Well done 👍👍

I’m a British born Grenadian that has travelled across the Caribbean and can say that Trinidad and Tobago has some of the best food on offer. Great to see Mark try the mauby, for many it’s not for them but I find it absolutely delicious. Seeing the roti and doubles makes me hungry for the food and a trip to T&T.

Catch a Groove Mauby is a great drink. Its also a "cooling" or herbal cleanse for the body. Mauby should be served chilled and not too sweet to give you that bitter-sweet taste. Its delicious.
